Eric is alot better now thanks for the wishes, Now if only l could lose this cough, it sounds like l am a smoker and l have never smoked in my life.
Were having a quiet Easter as a family just DH Eric and I as all our family is back in Ontario.
And since Eric only eats baby food, Bear(DH) and I will have to eat his share of the turkey. Were making sqwash and sweet potatoes and a head of brocoliie to go with it.
It's snowing again here has been for the last 5 days and l am sick of it, dosen't mother nature know its April?
We head home to Ontario in 15 days to see family and l can't wait, been counting down the days for almost 2 months. My birthday is in 20 days and l will be turning the big 40 so as sad as that makes me l will be happy to be celebrating it with my family.
I thought I would be bored to-day as it is a holiday and everything is closed. And I knew I wouldn't be going for my mall walk either. It's still too cold to walk outside. This week has been quite cold again and have had a little bit of snow but not enough to settle on the roads. Anyway I had a friend over to watch the hockey game last night and I ended up going to bed late and sleeping in this morning. So by the time I had breakfast the morning was almost gone. Getting a few chores done to-day, like laundry, ironing and cleaning the kitchen.
Melf - When I go to Wendy's I usually have the chicken strips and sometimes the baked potato with cheese. Definitely not legal but I only do it once in a while. Sometimes if I want to avoid too many starches I will have a small chili with the strips. This is one of the sides that you can have with the combo. Don't know if it would be the same for you. A small chili with a salad is good too. Hope your back is better to-day. Good for you getting out and walking even though you were sore.
BOB - I'll be having all the family over on Sunday for dinner including my dil's mom and dad and brother. There will be fourteen of us. I'll be cooking roast lamb and chicken parmesan plus all the trimmings. How do you put those pics in the middle of the post? I tried to put one in and it came out at the end of my post.
Ericsmommy - Glad to hear that Eric is better. Hope your cough is better soon. Where abouts in Ontario will you be visiting? I live just north of the GTA and we've had some cold temperatures again the last few days. Today it is -5C. I haven't been out yet to-day but yesterday it was cold and windy. I hope it warms up again soon.
Solly, Thin, Fruitloupe, Monet -
Well I think the washing machine has stopped so better get to it and throw some things in the dryer.
I am from Sarnia, but Dh is from Toronto, so we are visiting Sarnia for a week, and then Toronto area, have to see people in Burlington, mississauga,Whitby and Toronto, my FIL lives in Furgus so we will be going there too, It's tiring just thinking about it, but l can't wait to see everyone.
Yeah it's -5 here today too but Sunday they are calling for +15 so l got my fingers crossed.
Sounds like you will be busy in the kitchen making all that great food.
I just had a class with two students. They both did wonderfully. I played with Kaeleb for a bit then put him down for a nap. He is MAD. Laura is still not feeling very well. At least she is better than she was. She seems to get everything that goes around. I think Justin brings it home from the pharmacy and gives it to her, cause she doesn't go out all that much!
I have lamb in the oven for the Seder tonight. I need to go fix the Charoset. I have been running all day. I am looking forward to a few days off before I have to hit the ground running again. Monday, I have to cook for 50 again. Then the next weekend, I am catering a wedding.
The weather has turned cold here. Tom is going to open the pool this weekend anyway. I can't wait!
I need to go get stuff done, but wanted to check in. Love to you all!
We always do a fish dinner at my sister's for Good Friday. Today was no different except that I did not touch the rice & crawfish ettouffe, nor did I indulge in the desserts. I did have some of the fried fish but I brought a large bag of salad mix as my contribution to the side dishes. I had a large salad, fish, & green beans. I also brought 2 - 20 oz bottle of water & drank both of them while I was there. I feel good about today & pray that I can do as well Sunday as we will have BBQ at DD's. I'm thinking of doing "Just Like Stuffed Baked Potatoes" which is of course cauliflower. I think it will help me stay away from the potato salad. I'm also making Jello Eggs so I'll be able to enjoy those. I've been making them the last couple of years & the kids just love them! I never tell that they are SF!
Here's some for all of us this weekend!
Of course they don't have one for the REASON for this special holiday, but have a Blessed Resurrection Day everyone!
Prep Time: 10 min
Total Time: 3 hr 10 min
Makes: 6 "eggs" or 12 servings, 1/2 of an egg each
List of Ingredients
JELL-O EGG JIGGLERS Egg Mold
1-1/2 cups boiling water (Do not add cold water.)
***You can also use Apple Juice instead of water but then it's not SB legal**
1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Brand Gelatin, any flavor (I use SF)
Recipe
WIPE inside of both sides of egg mold and along rims lightly with oil, using paper towel. (Or, spray mold lightly with cooking spray.) Close mold, matching up the rims of the egg halves. Snap each of the six individual egg halves together until each of the six eggs are firmly sealed. Inspect each egg to make sure it is closed and sealed. Place mold, fill-side up, on tray.
STIR boiling water into dry gelatin mix in large bowl at least 3 min. until completely dissolved. Pour into measuring cup with pour spout. Immediately pour into mold through fill-holes until each egg is filled just to top of the egg shape. (Any remaining gelatin mixture can be poured into a custard cup.)
REFRIGERATE at least 3 hours or until firm. Open mold using a dull flat knife to gently pry between the halves of each egg. (Do not pull on the handle.) Turn mold over and shake gently to unmold eggs. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
It's seems I pop in only now and then lately! It's just that yesterday was another one of those days. Had the NH of course in the morning, came home to let Bitsy out and then to entertain, afterwards four of us we out for dinner. Came home in time to let Bitsy out and then went off to church. By the time I got home for good I was all tuckered out! Choir sang for the service.
Remeber I said I was going back to choir and an ew member would be picking me up? Well, after supper I usually get comfy to hunker down for the night. I was just about to change when the phone rang. It was Tara saying she had knocked at the door and there was no answer. Wondered if I was going to choir. I said yes I would see her tomorrow (Thursday) night. She said no, it was tonight (Wednesday). I don't know why I thought Thursday night. At any rate, I threw on a pair of jeans and she came round again and we went to choir. I was rather embarrassed, nice way to impress a new acquaintance!
By the way, that paella was a hit. Lori said to put it on the "make again list".
Today all I did was straighten up and dust. Even went and laid down for a snooze. Was just pooped.
Ashley is filming/directing a wedding scene tonight at a plantation. Lori is going to be either the mother of the bride or an extra at the wedding and reception. The scene is outdoors. They are going to freeze their tushes off! Ashley is the first female ever to direct the spring film.
MONET: Glad your piggy banks made it and you were pleased with the glazes. It is good to go around and check out what other people are doing with ceramics. It makes you realize how good/bad are your efforts in comparison. The more work you do you will find your style evolving. Also good to have the kind of friend you do, to be able to critique each others works.
Hit the ground running?!? You're always running! Don't you ever want to just hibernate?
TECH: Loved the pictures it was worth the time it took to crop them.
ROSALIE: I think most of us have days when Wendy's wins! Don't know when you find time to do household chores, you're always on the go.
THIN: Nice that the kids had a good report for cardio appointment. Chili Cheese Fries!! Don't know if I could resist. Hot dogs taste so much better when cooked over a bonfire on a stick. We always had to have toasted (sometimes burnt) marshmallows too.
SOLLY: Spirit is what keeps us going. I know if I miss coming here a little spirit is missing.
MELF: Hope the back is feeling better. Pretty good when a secondary road is better than the interstate. Too bad you didn't have time to look us up. Isn't it great that Missy is doing so well? I hope the "willpower dust" you sent works!
MISSY: Hope you have a good weekend. Hope Terry isn't too miserable. I love to play games, sounds like a fun time for you.
BOB: 5 a.m.?!? Are you crazy? I'm just turning over and trying to get a couple of hours sleep!! Hope all goes well with your little talk with the Manager.
MO: Good that Eric is better. Funny we all have traditions. I would never think of a turkey for Easter. My family always had ham. DH's family always had lamb. Since both familys gathered at our house we would fix both. They seemed to have basically the same side dishes so it was just the meat that was extra. Besides with 15-23 people for dinner we needed extra meat so why not keep everyone happy?
The weather is really strange. We were in the 80'sF and this aftenoon it was 60'F and dropping fast!
I think I got everyone. I'm sure with the holiday the board will be slow, so there won't be as many posts for us to read and reply to.
The Seder tonight went well. I fixed the lamb, and I was so pleased with how it turned out. Such an easy recipe and just delicious! The organization tonight was not as good in previous years. It was still fun. The table host was trying to make me comfortable so she made dessert and made a flourless chocolate cake. Oy! It was yummy! And yes, I ate a piece! I ate some of the traditional foods as well, but we used whole wheat matzos, and I made the charoset using agave and nothing illegal. It is just apples, walknuts and cinnamon mainly.
I am exhausted, so I need to go get ready for bed.
I know most of you are too young for the 50s, but I can remember a simpler time. See what 50 years will do.

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fell down when he saw him. Murphy had never been seen in church in his life.
After Mass, the priest caught up with Murphy and said, "Murphy, I am so glad you decided to come to Mass, what made you come?
Murphy said, "I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat. I know that McGlynn had a hat just like me hat, and I knew that McGlynn come to church every Sunday I also knew that McGlynn had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church. so, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."
The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that you didn't steal McGlynn's hat. What changed your mind?"
Murphy said, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 Commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal McGlynn's hat."
The priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' you decided you would rather do without your hat than Burn in ****, right?"
Murphy shook his head and said, "No, Father, after you talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat.

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants
I saw a woman wearing a sweat shirt with "Guess" on it. So I said "Implants?" She hit me.
How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America?
I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose-fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose-fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place!
When I was young we used to go "skinny dipping," now I just "chunky dunk."
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over? AMEN, AMEN !!
Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?
Wouldn't you know it...Brain cells come and brain cells go, but FATcells live forever.
Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside?
Bumper sticker of the year: "If you can read this, thank a teacher -and, since it's in English, thank a soldier"
And remember: life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
It's a lazy day here on the West Coast of FLA....Here it is almost 5 p.m. and I haven't even thought about what to fix for supper....guess I better get a move on.
ROSALIE...I'll PM you the link to the site where I get all my little additives...all you do is pick the one you want and copy/paste right after the line you want to use it on. Sounds like a full house for you on Sunday..
Have a good time and enjoy each and every person there!
MONET...Glad everything went well...what are you fixing for Easter dinner?
SEF...keep those fingers crossed about the talk with the Manager...I NEED IT!
MELF...Where do you get the egg molds?
MO...I'm so glad to hear that Eric is better...what's on your agenda for Easter?
