Excellent way to start your 21st! Yay, team!

I did 4.5 miles this morning and 2 yesterday on the treadmill. Which is like running through, uh, muck for me. I can't believe how much I used to run on a treadmill (before the advent of the iPod, no less). Now it's definitely all about bargaining with myself to get through the workout. (I've started doing the Runner's World marathon training schedule, which means I have to ramp up my running a lot.)

I thinking about buying a treadmill for the inevitable 85 degree days coming up here soon... Some people seem to love them, some hate them. Anything I should look for?

If you really want to get a home treadmill (and you're sure you're going to use it! v. important!) go for QUALITY. A crappy treadmill is just a waste of time, space, and money. I'm not sure what the brand at my gym is -- I'll check the name next time I'm in there. But you want adjustable speeds (newer models have preprogrammed buttons so that you can hit to go directly to 4mph or 6mph, for instance) and adjustable incline. Lots of treadmills have number pads where you can just "dial" what speed you want to go, which is also good (instead of having to hit the up/down buttons over and over again). You need something solid!

I have an elliptical trainer and a stationary bike now, and they get a lot of use, so I'm pretty sure I would actually use the treadmill. DH would probably just hang stuff on it. I went cheap with my first elliptical and it broke after three months, so I totally learned my lesson on picking out equipment... Thanks for the info Diane! I've never actually been on a treadmill, so I know nothing about them. At least I had been on an elliptical when I picked it out, so wasn't as intimidated. Treadmill is all new...

Today has been a crazy day! Thanks for the birthday wishes . I went shopping after my classes and found an awesome dress from French Connection to wear for my party/night out tomorrow night. I'm soo excited

Midwife -- it was sooo cold near the water!! Probably around -20, I couldn't handle it which is why I slowly made my way back north lol. And yes Toronto is quite exotic! It's the most multicultural city in the world so we have "little ___" everything and multiple china towns. I think about 40-50% of Torontonians are immigrants, its the most amazing thing, I know people from all over the world!

Shannon - I personally think the treadmill is brutally boring. I can never tell whether I'm tired or just bored and can never go over 4 miles. Maybe if you had a tv to watch it might help.

Hello---

Haven't been on here almost a week, but I kept track of my miles each day.

Saturday:4.25;
Sunday: 3.5;
Monday: 3.25;
Tuesday: 3.5;
Wednesday: 3.5;
Thursday: 3 miles.

I would have liked to do a bit better but was a bit under the weather this week, so I'll just make up for it when I feel better and rested.

That puts me at 21 miles so far. I need 979 more miles for 2009, and also have a daily goal for today of 4 miles.

Didn't go to the gym today, but I did go to the mall and walk around for like 2 hours...so that has to be like 1 mile, right?
