MBN thanks for the advice, I'd feel horrible if I got an injury. I wouldn't usually count walking but I DID wake up early to do it, so 6 miles PLUS I did 45 minutes on the bike so really I tried hahah.

In more exciting news, I have the Garmin Forerunner 405!!!!! It's charging right now, I'm dying with excitement. I'm going clubbing tonight so I can't use it until tomorrow. I'll be drinking tonight so running tomorrow will probably be hard, but maybe I can push through since I'm so excited about this watch!

Well in my case...

1)if you wake up one morning and scratch the back of your leg and think "wow! My legs are getting really toned" (when normally they have a nice cottage cheesy cushy fat layer) that is a tight ball of muscle left over from your weights workout the day before.
2) If after your warmup that tight ball of muscle still FEELS like a tight ball of muscle, dont feel that just because you are the one who is coaching the other girls in the workout today you are **** bound and obligated to finished the 6 x 800 workout in freezing cold weather.
3)And certainly when you are running the 800's and your brain is saying "this is STUPID my left leg feels really really tight" refer to #2 again. Stop. Dont push on because you convinced the others to do 800's and you are trying to coach one girl on how to pace an 800.

So in other words. Listen to your freaking body and dont get caught up in what you are "supposed" to do that day.

45 minute run today, outside run for a change! What a difference from the treadmill.

Ennay, I'm really sorry to hear about your injury and Boston. Hope you heal up fast.

So, I went skiing yesterday and did a ton of runs for 3 miles. The day ended, however, with a spectacular fall. (Think backwards, inverted swan dive off the mountain into the trees.) Yikes!!! No permanent damage but that is only because I was wearing a helmet. So, if you are doing a helmet-y thing... please, please wear it!!!

I'm still here! I'm just coming off an injury so I can finally start adding serious miles again. (Yes, I ramped up too fast. I'll never learn.)

Ennay, I'm so sorry to hear about your hamstring and Boston I'm babying my shin right now and it sucks.

MBN, congrats on an awesome season!

urockmom, glad you're ok! You must have a hard head

Finished 12 miles this morning. I'm still about 50 miles behind where I need to be, but I'm catching up. 220/1500 right now.

Daylight savings is on Sunday, so while I feel bad for all of you morning runners getting an extra hour of darkness it's awesome for me because I can run after work and still catch some sun (which is at a premium here.)

I definitely would like to join this challenge. I know I am a bit late but one of the goals I have is to walk every day, so I will try for a 1000 miles this year if you do not mind me joining....if it proves to be too challenging at this point I will decrease it to around 800 but for now my goal is 1000. This will give me something to work towards and hold me accountable, since I announced my intentions here.

Good luck everyone, this challenge is perfect!

8 miles today.

I'm starting the Runner's World marathon training schedule (for people who just want to finish) next week, planning on a late June marathon!

+5 today!

I've been doing .5 mile quick walk warmup, 1-1.5 mile of running steady, then sprint intervals for the rest of the distance, gradually increasing the distance as I go along. Have been doing 4 miles, today was my first day moving up to 5... Did more walking in the extra mile than sprinting, don't want to get hurt... I can really feel a difference with the sprinting, though - my tummy measurement is down an inch in two weeks! Woo hoo!

Flutter, go ahead and join in! Welcome.

Is anyone following any online training schedules that they can share the link for? I'm looking for a half marathon or advanced 10K one now, I know there's lots out there but was wondering if anyone has done or is doing one they liked.

I'm on week 11 of C210K:

river, I like Hal Higdon's schedules. Some of them don't have the weekly mileage I like so I usually add or subtract as needed but keep the structure of the program.

5.91 miles. I love my garmin. I'm gonna force myself to take tomorrow off so I can do a long run Tuesday. I'm trying to stretch more and really listen to my body to avoid injury. And ennay I can understand why you'd feel you had to keep going if you were the one the one teaching the class. I hope you heal fast!
