Snacks - Boiled eggs, cheese sticks, limited nuts (walnuts have a zero carb effect when you net off fibre from the carbs in them pretty much).

Breakfast - Atkins shakes, bacon & eggs . . . steak? (dont laugh some of my friends do eat steak for breakfast! ha!)

So NO veggies for 2 weeks??? Thats pretty hardcore. If you just tracked your carbs and kept them to 20 or less per day you would still have AMAZING results.

There are some in just about everything so unless you are purely just eating meat & egg whites you wont be at zero for the day.

I'm sure he couldn't have meant no veg for 2 weeks. That would just be stupid! What veggies are low carb?

Anything green is your friend!!!

Actually I found you a list:
http://www.atkins.com/Program/FourPh...FoodsList.aspx

I would not recommend zero carb. There are loads of people out there who are fans, but from my experience in the LC area, veggies are your friend

It sounds like what your doctor is suggesting is Atkins Induction or Stillmans (another LC plan).

http://www.aboutatkinsdiet.com/atkin...tion_phase.htm

http://www.lowcarb.org/stillman.html (I would not do this for more than 2 weeks)

Also, just a tip - if you are going to start soon, may I suggest making a start tmro morning - you may feel awful the first few days so best to have that over the weekend than try and be at work when you want to throw up. By day 4 you will feel like a stick insect (all the bloat will be gone) and have more energy.

I would also recommend LOADS of water and I stuck to more lean meats when I did it - like chicken and fish bcos it made me feel better than inhaling too much red meat.

Check out South Beach diet as well - it's less extreme than Atkins, and has phases where you eat less carbs, then increase etc. My friend had good results with it (and she was already skinny, she just wanted a 6 pack!!). She does have terrible farts though... and I know she drinks a raw egg with protein powder for breakfast which makes me want to hurl. Being thinner isn't worth that haha!

Yes yes, SB

I am pooped. I did a 45 minute pilates class tonight and 30 min run on the treadmill. I forgot a bottle of water and was totally dehydrated, ended up going back to the office to get some panadol and water so I could feel better before coming home. Feeling much better tonight and so glad I went

TGI(almost)F!!!!

Ooh Danni that sounds dangerous, I couldn't do any sort of run without water!

Had my first carb free breakfast - a chicken sausage omelette. Not bad.

Still feeling absolutely miserable with my face all sore and swollen. On antibiotics now though so hopefully the infection will die down soon.

Looking forward to doing lots of research today about low carb cooking and will check out the south beach diet too, thanks Gen. Don't know about having a raw egg with protein powder though - gak!

So sorry to hear you are not feeling great

I dont want to go to work today, have such a headache this morn.

I think I may just go in jeans . . .

Am going to try to go for a little run tonight too just to stretch out my bits after the pilates.

I had oatmeal for breakfast - love it!

8g per 1/2 cup of cooked carrot. No idea if that is high or low!

Supposedly. They are also high GI but at the end of the day I am a firm believer that fruit & veggies are not what made me fat.

ok i get the whole idea of high protien but what worries me is the cost how can you afford to eat so much meat...??? and ketosis is not very good for you either.. .. i guess im just a worrier...

I think the idea of sb is much better then atkins.. lean protien with veg and some fruit.. the thing is though any plan you cant stick to long term isnt gonna make to much a difference in the long run...

So do you think say a few high protien... low carb days a week as oppossed to all the time would be benificial? i know your doctor said 2 weeks julia.. i get that... but what to do after that?? less carbs?

im only asking for my own benefit... lol... i could handle a few high protien low carb days... but couldnt go low carb for long... lol .. and im more then keen to get things moving in the right direction since today im showing yet another gain... i know TOM is very close and 200grams is nothing really but still... GRRRRRR.... i want to be losing not gaining
