Talking Day 4!!!!!

AHHHHH I am so excited. It has gotten much easier to curb my cravings for anything sweet. Last night I will admit I went ahead and rewarded myself some Mint Chocolate chip ice cream. I figured I earned it. Before I ate it however I made sure I was not going to feel guilty about it. I knew what I was doing, I made the choice to splurge on myself. So there was no guilt or worthless feeling. It felt great to reward myself like that. I did learn though, that it is not something I want to do again. After I wrote everything down minus the ice cream the myfitnesspal menu said that I would lose 6 lbs less in 5 weeks then when I put the ice cream in it. It was amazing to see that in print like that only because I was able to see the results. I thought about the extra 6 lbs that could effect me this week.

Today was pretty easy. Its amazing at how when I first started I couldnt even imagine being on this diet for a year let alone another day. It was hard to think about other things then food. That is how much I had relied on food to get me through every day. I keep cheating and weighing myself every morning. I have lost 6 lbs. YEAHHHHHH

Goal for tomorrow? DO NOT WEIGH IN I will weigh myself on Friday Dec 2nd. Then post it.

My one concern right now is drinking. I go out with my husband on Saturday nights and I enjoy a few cocktails or beers. I really do not want to stop this at all. If it sabotages my diet, like I know it will, I know I will have to get rid of it. Maybe baby steps and take away a few things at a time.

Overall I am a very happy woman. I am on the road to success and its getting easier with each day.

Bunny~once I got past preconditioning, I didn't really crave sweets. The couple of times I had taken a small taste of a sweet treat, I thought it was too sweet and definitely didn't want it. Well, on our long car ride last week, we stopped at Braum's and let the kids get some ice cream. I tasted my son's mint chocolate chip and good gravy it was delicious! I had to race out of the parking lot and get back on the road before I was tempted to buy some for myself!

I enjoy my adult beverages, too, but I have cut them completely out for now. I really miss wine (okay, I did have some over Thanksgiving) but right now losing weight is more important to me. My MRC counselor said if I really felt like I had to have a drink, make it vodka. It burns off faster. Also, challenge yourself...drink 2 glasses of water before you allow yourself an alcoholic drink. I did that with soda when I was on Weight Watchers.

Bunny and Big Hog,
i heard vodka is better too plus you can nurse your drink and keep adding ice and club soda or diet tonic water. at the bar this past friday, i asked for a tall glass for the vodka soda (i add a splash of cranberry juice and lots of limes) and i drank the water, got more and kept adding the water and ice to the vodka drink. i'm usually a Michelob Ultra Beer kind of girl but made the switch when i go out. on vacation this Sept at the beach i mixed tequila w/ the Pink Lemonade HNS and sugar free margarita mix (like 15 cal.)and lost 2 lbs that week!!! i did drink extra water too that whole week.
not part of the plan, but i read that some of the counselors told people if they were going to drink, cut out one carb and fruit for that day....
i also try to walk or ride the bike more too. i know it doesn't seem worth it to some people but i like to go out!!! and also try to dance to burn activity points!!!

I just discovered that the bars are dangerous for me. I bought them for an upcoming trip and I can't keep out of them! I ate 2 in one day. Ok, 1 1/2. I had better not get them again.

I made MRC's BBQ Chicken sandwich recipe. It was okay. I also made...gah...I forgot what they're called. They're supposed to be mock mashed potatoes made with cauliflower. It was too watery and bland. South Beach diet has a really good recipe, but I'm not sure if it's MRC-friendly. I'll have to dig it up.

I just looked it up...it has an ounce of half & half to 4 cups of cauliflower. That seems pretty minute.

Also, I am craving coffee in the afternoons SO bad! We have a Keurig but no decaf K cups. That is on my must purchase list.

I'm also starting to think about exercise. When I went to WI yesterday, the counselor asked about my plans because she said it's a huge part of maintenance. I love running, just not on the treadmill (which I do own) and not out in the cold (so like now-March.) I have some really good Beach Body programs...I think I am going to start with Insanity after Christmas. I'll probably die, lol.
i hate to say this but some of their recipes are not that great at all. i'm starting to look at some of the South Beach recipes or Atkins for variety... i need permanant substitutes for the things that i used to eat so.....have to find some alternatives. i love my Gold Gym exercise bike for the afternoon exercise. i roll out of bed every am and walk my 2-3 puppies (one of my girls is 16 so usually take her for a slower walk after the power walk) for a few miles, rain or shine, cold or hot. they pull me out of bed and are great trainers!

i was going to ask you about them and how they worked out. i got the Bariwise last week (variety pack) and they are too crazy good, even better than candy. i had one for lunch w/ celery and then one before dinner. i had 2 spoonfuls of cottage cheese for breakfast so was super hungry! not a typical day, sales meeting, then sales training YIKES, then worked late as usual. i usually have one a day but i need to limit them to 3 a week like the plan says. they work for me when i'm on the road and don't want to be tempted w/ fast food. i keep one in the pantry at a time and hide the rest so i can't see them. also have a couple in my glove compartment for emergencies. OMG, i might starve or something! i was used to keeping fruit in the car or nuts but w/ this diet, can't really do that. hey, what about turkey jerky? protein right?

They will help you make a substitution if need be or arrange your diet so that it fits your needs. At the beginning, I could not take any of the powdered drinks, and that is what I bought. I would be so sick after digesting them, and the center told me to try the gel as that did not have the same type of artificial sugar in it that I was allergic to.

Hope this helps. Congrats on your weight loss. That is a decent weight loss for the weeks you mentioned..

Wishing you the best on your new challenge.

Even though my stomach does fine the after taste is blah! So I will talk to them when I get in on Friday afternoon. I am able to only get into the clinic 1 per week and was not in town last week. I did not know there was a gel available. I like the Crystal light with a whey protein (I can even cook with it).
Thanks, I have found many tips when doing an internet search, I kept getting pointed over here, so I thought I would join and become more active with the group! Look forward to posting more and getting more support!

Rough day! Hopefully it will get better tomorrow. The munchkin has the stomach bug again, but worse. This morning, we woke up to a crib covered in vomit.

Oh what fun!...But, I did stay on plan.

And let me just add, my sweet husband brought me home a grilled chicken salad from Cracker Barrel. There was an extra biscuit left. I used to be able to eat 3 or 4 at a shot. Not any more. I just keep repeating, only 9.5 pounds to go! Bye bye, biscuit!
