I too wouldn't mind trying the B12-B6 combo. Just wondering what the combination does to your body and why it kick starts your loss?

B6 and B12 supplements.
The homocysteine level increases during weight loss. B6 and B12 Supplementation help to reduce these levels. Homocysteine is an amino acid in the blood. Epidemiological studies have shown that too much homocysteine in the blood (plasma) is related to a higher risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease. Still not sure why/how the ruduction of it effects weightloss though. Extra Toxins in the body maybe? Reduction of stress? |
What dose of the B-12 and B-6 are you taking Karen or anyone else out there? I bought some, but as you can imagine there all different ranges. I bought B-6 200 mg and B-12 2500 mg. I just want to be sure I don't over do it. Does anyone have MRC's bottles to tell me what their dose is? I'd greatly appreciate it!

B Vitamins Part of Weightloss — B12 and B6
April 25th, 2009 | medicine, tools As part of my weightloss plan one of the suggestions is to have a vitamin B12 injection and potentially take a B6 supplement. For the time being I have chosen not to get the additional injection, but instead am taking a 500 mcg B12 supplement and a 100 mg B6 supplement. Here is what my doctor says about vitamin B12 and vitamin B6. Vitamin B12 is also called a Cobalamine and is one of the eight water-soluble B vitamins. All of these B vitamins help the body in converting carbohydrates into glucose or sugar, which is burned in order to produce energy for proper body function. These are often referred to as B complex vitamins, and are essential for the breakdown of fats and proteins. They help maintain muscle tone, protect the mucus lining in the digestive tract and mouth, and promote upkeep of nervous system and the organs like the liver, skin, hair, and eyes. Cobalamine is an excellent anti-stress vitamin since it is believed to enhance the health functioning of the immune system and improve the body's ability to fight stressful conditions. B12 injections have been found to frequently improve energy levels and general well-being. They also support thyroid function to regulate energy levels. B12 also reduces water retention owing to its diuretic attributes. Vitamin B6, also called pyridoxine, is another of the eight water-soluble B vitamins. Pyridoxine can help with weight loss through a stimulating effect of the thyroid. This can be especially helpful for hormone balance in women when water retention is an issue. Lastly, patients seem to find the pyridoxine alleviates cravings consistently I found this about the B6 and B12 vitamin supplements - kind of interesting |

We are going to the Inn of the Mountain Gods. One of the guys that we are going with is big into golf and my husband enjoys it also. He plays in a golf tournament up there every year and so they are going to go and play golf one day. We are also going to go to the races. Another thing that I have never done. Where are you from in Texas? |

I was taking B12 a few times a week although I tried to take it daily but not consistently. The B6 I used only when I was retaining water and would take 1 or 2 which usually helped. The B12 I purchase is Solaray brand, 2000 mcg of Cyanocobalamin, sugar free sublingual lozenges. Sublingual (under the tongue) absorption is almost equal to receiving B12 injections. The B6 is Life Fitness brand 100 mg per tablet and incredibly bitter tasting, yuck! I've read the explanations below and it sounds very reasonable to me :0) Hope it works for ya! |

Hi all! I've taken a break from MRC for the last few months. I think I'm about 10lbs. up so I'm ready to get back on and get it off and maybe a few more. When I hit maintenance, it was the weekend of my daughters graduation so we went straight into parties, then I went on vacation to California, then home to Nebraska and a week long family reunion, the 4th of July, and finished off my splurges yesterday with celebrating my MIL birthday. Whew....it was fun but I sure feel the weight coming back. Not weighing myself right now. I don't want to be shocked! My clothes are starting to get tight and I gave away all my bigger clothes so I would have to get back on if I gained. I think I will precondition today and tomorrow and get back on the green menu after that.
It's amazing how many new people I see. I hope to get to know you all! |
