You are right--measurements sometimes tell the story better than the scale. I started out in size 14 pants that were way too tight but refused to buy 16s. Breaking a couple of zippers got me motivated, for sure!
I finally got back into size 12, then they were getting big (no, I guess I was getting smaller!). On December 6, I stopped at an outlet mall and bought two pairs of pants, one size 10 and the same style in size 8. My goal was the get into the 8 by Christmas. I did it, though they were snug. That was a good reminder to stay on program and not eat too much! Wellllll, today, the 8 is comfortable!
So, I guess I'm back on track. I'll miss my goal of 140 by Jan. 1, but should be at 145, so I'm definitely moving in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. Let's go for it big time!

Right on Meiho!!! What a great NSV for you!

Yes, it's so much easier when you don't have the rolls in the way.

Thanks and Happy New Year everyne!
Sometimes it happens - we plateau. Usually when you plateau and you're sticking to plan, you will continue to lose inches even if the lbs aren't coming off. The holidays tend to be a stressful time, even when we don't have company or travel, and stress makes us retain water (well, it does me!). Just stick to the plan, keep drinking your water, up your exercise a bit if you can, and the weight will start coming off again. Usually after a plateau you get a big drop on the scale. But always remember, the scale isn't always the best measure of your progress, even though our weigh-ins make us focus on the scale. How are your clothes fitting?

Bonnie-
Isn't that the most amazing feeling! I was shocked at what a diff. that 40 lbs made! How was the skiing at Vail? We were so cold at steamboat but it was fun! We are hoping to go up again next weekend.

I am so glad to be back on this board! Just reading through the recent posts gets me more motivated to get back on track and drop these final pounds for good. I really struggled with sweets while at my mom's house last week. I did really well w/ meals, but couldn't stop myself from sneaking cookies, fudge, etc. UGGHHH. And I felt so bad for having done it. I haven't been back on the scale yet but I just felt FAT immediately after eating that crap. I was totally OP today and am glad to finally be home where I have more control over my food environment! I bought size 10 jeans for the first time in 4+ years last week and I am not going to backtrack! This is the week that I should finally bite the bullet and take my 14's and 16's to consignment...the nail in the coffin so to speak.

To those of you who celebrated the holidays and stayed OP--WAY TO GO!!!

Congrats on joining MRC and on your upcoming wedding!! Welcome to the board. Keep coming back and posting and you'll find lots of great support in this group. It has helped me a lot! Also be sure to check out the recipe thread. That's helped me keep from eating the same thing day in and day out and getting bored with my food!

I've been reading and keeping up on all the posts over the last week but with a house full of family in town, I didn't get time to post. Congrats to everyone who stayed OP over Christmas! Way to go with all the great losses. Today is a new day if you had difficulties. It's time to make a U-turn and get back on track for the new year.

I too was able to stay pretty much OP over the Christmas and had a great present for myself on Friday. I got to sign the 50lb board! YEAH!! It was funny that I was so focused on getting to 50 that when I got there I almost felt like I was done! Now I have to get refocused on the next 50+. I plan to sign up today for the weeks it will take to make it to my final goal to take advantage of some specials my center is running. I originally only signed up for 50lbs so I could make sure I could follow the program and that I would lose weight.

Welcome to all the newbies! You will love the support you receive here!
Congrats on all those losses! I'm dreading walking into the center today! I need to do measurements also. I have already decided to sign up for some extra weeks and take off an extra 10-15 lbs. We'll see what they say! I'm just glad to be back home and have my controled boundries and not having anyone saying that oh one cookie won't hurt you! Actually it wasn't the sweets that hurt me it was eating out and not having good foods available at meal time! ughhhh! Well done and over and we are on to a new week!

congrats! 50 pounds in 3 or 4 months is a great accomplishment!!! what a present to give yourself!

i have lost a little over 10 pounds in a month...it's a little slow. i know some of the not perfect things OP i do...like eating regular salad dressing and drinking coffee, sometimes not enough water to drink....but i am focused..i am proud to say i got through thanksgiving, Christmas, 3 family birthdays (including my own), without a sweet! no cookies, cakes, candy.....that is something i am so proud of! we went out to eat yesterday for my birthday...my husband said "why don't you just order anything today since it's your birthday!" but i stuck to the chicken salad.....i feel like if i give in to "anything" i will break this cycle that i am on....it's kind of empowering. So, this next month i plan on working on small goals...like getting all my water in....excercing more....eating less salad dressing.

i am still so thankful for this forum!! thanks to all who give so much much input!

I did have my first weigh in today and I lost 2.5lbs since Friday. WOW!! What it in these pills?? I am not as hungry during the day and I am sleeping better too.

I was really dreading going to WI today, but I stayed the same since last Monday. It would have been much better had I been able to have a loss, but I will take the staying the same.

I am going to spend the month of January focusing on exercise. It is something that I haven't been serious about since starting this program and I know that it will be important in the long run.

I just signed up for an additional 34 weeks since my center was doing a special until the end of the year. In theory I should have no trouble making my goal by the end of that time. I think the final date was August 14th or something like that.
