  • Quote: Hi Denise, My goodness, what a scare. I'm a little behind on posts, but I just read the update and I'm so thrilled that they think it's not Sickle Cell disease. What a relief!

We haven't herd from Donuts in ages. Denise - have you run into him at the center?

I am so excited for you!!!! It's good to see such a great loss this far into program too! You have to promise to continue on the maintainers thread when you are done. I miss our old friends who have stopped posting - you have been doing this with me since the beginning, so I just couldn't handle losing touch with you!!
Definitely a relief! Just waiting on the test results now.....

I haven't heard from him at all... he is MIA. He hasn't been at the center either (I've asked). I also sent him a PM thinking maybe he was lurking but I never heard back, so... I don't know what to say. Hopefully he'll show up and say hello eventually.

Thank you, I'm so excited too! I will continue on the threads; this has been a support for me and I've made too many friends here to just walk away. You all are family now!

Has anyone tried to make pudding out of the flavored whey protein? Just wondering. I bought unflavored whey protein and egg whites. I will try my first experiment today at lunch. Wal-Mart has drink mixes that are like Crystal Light but under $2. I bought a few of those to flavor my new supplement mixtures. Do you mix these shakes up in a blender?
Didn't they used to make sugar-free Kool-aid mixes? It has been so long since I even bought Kool-aid that I was surprised not to find any.
I am over my sinus infection, but still have a nasty cough. Two more days of antibiotics. I hope to see the water weight go from being sick as soon as I get off the antibiotics. The 6 day steroid pill pack made me retain water, too. I am going to to try to be faithful to a "T" this week because next week we go to Disney World with Mark's brother, Joe. Joe just got back 2 weeks ago from Afghanistan. Disney world gives all servicemen a free 5-day park hopper pass. His wife will get in for about $130 total. We already have season passes. We also got into a moderate Disney resort for $89 a night (Go to mousesavers dot com to get similar deals). Anyhow, we also bought the meal plan. I am concerned about staying on my diet. 2 years ago I went to Disney for 4 days and lost 6 lbs. Maybe I can do that again!!!!!
Let's all work hard to keep focused on our goals!
I never tried making pudding - sorry. I just shake them up in my Tupperware shaker thingy or use a whisk for hot ones. I like to put the egg whites in with an egg for breakfast for an omelet or a big pile of scrambled eggs. I haven't looked for sugar-free Koolaid for awhile, but they did used to make it. I also like the diet Ocean Spray for mixing up the drinks - only 5 calories, I think.
Glad you're getting over your sinus infection - those are miserable. We're looking for a time to do the Disney thing too this year - weren't planning on a trip there this year until we got the info on that deal, it's too good to pass up. (My husband is retired A.F.) Which moderate are you staying at? We stayed at Coronado Springs a few years ago and really liked it.
  • Good Morning!
We all have reservations at Port Orleans Riverside Resort. We will not know if we are staying in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend until we get there. I called yesterday to ensure I get a first floor room or a room near and elevator. I read up on it and alligator Bayou does not have stairs. I hope to do away with my cane eventually. I go tomorrow to see doctor to schedule surgery on my right knee.
We also bought the meal plan that pays for 2 meals a day. We have made reservations for most of the meals already. We will be traveling with my 3 month old nephew so we will probably move at a slow pace around the parks.
Do you add water to the egg white or whey powder/egg white mixture? It seemed quite strong. This morning I had whey powder and orange Crystal light. What brand whey powder do you buy? The diet Ocean Spray Cranberry juice - is it the juice or the pouches like Crystal Light?
Congrats on all of the recent loses. Have a great MRC day!

I just mix up Crystal Lite as usual (or use the bottled kind since it has splenda instead of aspartame) & add the whey powder or egg white to it & shake it up. And the Diet Ocean Spray is bottled juice - you have to check the bottles, I think there's a "lite" too, but I'm pretty sure it's the "diet" that's only 5 calories per serving. If it's too strong add more water - and check the whey protein to be sure you're getting about 12-15 grams of protein, their serving size might have more than you need. I got mine at GNC, it was GNC Pro Performance plain unflavored whey protein powder, came in a pouch.
Hope you have a great time at Disney, I'd like to stay at Port Orleans sometime (I'd like to stay at a LOT of their resorts!) Wish we still had our RV for Disney trips, we loved camping there, but I have to say we get a lot more use out of our pool than we did the RV (sold the RV & had pool put in).
  • OK Meemo, one more question concerning the Pro Performance whey powder. What is "one scoop"? There is a line all the way around the scoop about 2/3 way up the scoop. Is the that the "one scoop" line or is "one scoop" all the way to the top of the scoop. Not trying to be difficult; just want to get it right. I do not think I will be able to tolerate the egg whites, but I mixed the whey powder with orange Crystal Light this morning and like it.Thanks for having patience with me.:-)

To tell you the truth, I don't remember! I think a scoop is the full scoop. But I think I figured out that about 2/3 of a full scoop came out to about the right amount for 12-15 grams of protein. I ended up using a baby formula scoop, figured out that 2 of those were about the right amount according the the grams they measure by. I'm not trying to be difficult either - I just haven't used the whey protein for awhile (still have a bunch of chocolate that I use in place of creamy hot cocoa).
