It depends what you are doing. If you are doing cardio. Eat within an hour before your workout so that you can have the energy to do your whole workout.

If you are going to be strength training intense then you will want to eat before and have an HNS after so that your body has the protein for rebuilding the muscle and some carbs for energy.

If you start feeling hungry eat your creamy in the afternoon instead of the evening so that you have the carbs when you need them.

I hope this makes sense.

She figures she'll get a good work out, get a tan and save gas - can't lose! She was pretty tired yesterday! She realized that her slacking off on work outs her last semester caught up to her. Seeing me smaller than her really freaked her out! She's struggled her whole life to stay thin (lost about 40lbs in 10th grade and has kept it off). She's trying really hard to be supportive of me, but I'm not allowed to mention my actual weight or my size of clothing. We had a good talk on the ride home from college and she discussed what her triggers are on how she fights with body image problems. I told her I've worked very hard to get where I am and I still have a long fight ahead of me - I'm not going to contain my excitement and only she can work on her own issues, but realizing she has an issue is a healthy step. I can definately live with our ground rules. Besides, it helps me keep the focus off the scale and more on the healthy changes in my life! Speaking of scale - time to go wi! Have a great day everyone!
You are doing so great with your daughter. You sounds so supportive and proud of her. She is so lucky.

I have only 4.5 pounds to go before I hit 100 gone, by Saturday I should almost be there, so I think it is fine to go ahead with the photo shoot 1/2 pound and I get to wave goodbye to the 180's
MRC also wants me to write up my testimonial, and they are getting ready to do my 100 pounds lost recognition award at our center. They want to submit me for the main website. How exciting! I feel like I am in a whirlwind right now.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Darren, 18 miles on bike is no joke!! Great job!!
Woo-hoo!!!! You are on fire. I love you reward BTW

The only bright spot is that I've managed to stay on plan. I even tested positive on the ketostix yesterday so that was a plus. I think since Vegas, I've only managed to do that a couple of times.

I was down 2 more pounds from last week and only 2.5 from signing that 40 lb board. I am working hard to try and make that by Saturday. Actually, I want to get down 3.5 by Saturday so I can finally kiss the 300's good-bye.

I just broke down and had a regular caffeinated coffee though. First one in weeks but my butt was dragging and I could barely keep my eyes open at my desk. I've been out of my ADWL so I haven't been taking anything other than the MRC6 and a multi. I'm even out of flax. Thankfully payday is Thursday so I can restock everything! Plus I think I want to pick up some of that Seathin. I looked at the local health food store but didn't see it there so I guess I will be making a trip to GNC in the mall.

*sigh* Back to work I guess. I will try and update my blog and get caught up with you all tonight. Hope you each have a wonderful day and good luck to anyone weighing in today.
Glad your back. You are doing so well!!! You can do this

So...maybe I had a 3 lb. loss! Here's to hoping so. If I do have a loss like that - I made the 20 lb. board!!!!

A little NSV this a.m. - I put on some shorts. Shorts from several years ago! Button fly size 12, no problem!!!! Not tight anywhere! Yay!

I've pretty much quit all supplements except the flax & B6. I ran out & just can't afford to keep replacing them. Occassionally I throw in an enhanser or Apple Cider Vinegar to mix my body up a bit. I know they aren't going to like this - they ask me everytime to add a new supplement. One girl says Hoodia, another says Cortitrim... But, I think I may try the Sea Thin & Green Tea capsuls Donuts mentioned just to keep my body guessing. Besides they are both less than the 6 week supply of Coritrim for $75 that was recommended to me! Jeepers! Just can't do that kinda spending right now - gotta have gas & that's what I spent yesterday to fill up my Expedition!
Good job on the shorts. That 20 lb. board will be yours!!!!

Default Lurking

Hello everyone! I haven't posted much lately, but I have been "lurking". Congrats to all the losers this week.
I can really relate to the post about dysfunctional childhoods/families and to depression. I have delt with it all...I am just not able to discuss it here. It amazes me to find out that we all have similar experiences! Thank you for sharing your stories ladies. I think the talk of it all made me withdrawl a bit.
I can definitely say that the "battle of the buldge" that I am dealing with definitely reflects my "scars" from childhood. I am finding it difficult to stay motivated these days...I WI today for 1 lb loss. I have lost 19 of the 40 that I want to lose! Even though I haven't posted much lately, I really rely on this site to pull me through.

thanks Donuts for the ideas on supplements. I am thinking of trying the Seathin. Hope everyone has a great week and stays OP!

Had wi today and was down 1.5 lbs. Had to do my "confessional". I really lost control of my eating the evening of mothers day. I was good all day long - lunch, an evening party. And then I was left alone in the house and mad at my DH for going on an endless amount of rescue and fire calls (he's a volunteer). I knew what I was doing, and just didn't stop myself. In fact, my house is so cleaned out of bad things that I really had to hunt to find their stashes. We had a good laugh today and talked about things I could do differently. Luckily, I don't have this emotional problem very often. And luckily, it didn't affect my weight loss too bad. I increased the water all day on Monday and had an extra hard workout.

Goal4Life - I'm so excited about your Glamour shots. What a great reward to yourself. You have been so consistent through the whole plan - superstar!

mspiggy13 - I get my MSM from freelife dot com. They are a direct selling company so I think my membership fee is $35 per year. I like the quality of their products - they are pharmaceutical grade and have a really good reputation. However, they are pricey too. I've taken their MSM and multi-vitamin for the past 10 years. The only thing I added for MRC is the flax seed oil.

blueyedangel - Way to go on the size 12's! I'm not sure if I will get down to that size. I'm still in a 14. OH, my consultant did say I'm within 15 lbs of goal now. When I get to 10 lbs within goal I can possibly start the stabilization process. Have a good day - back to work!

I do not think those with thyroid disease should take the following MRC products:
All Day Weight Loss or Metabolic Enhancer. That's what my center told me.

I was told the same.
My doctor told me not to use their Vitamin as designed either. I can take one mid-day and one at night but the morning one will mess with the absorption of synthroid.

Deanna I had been wondering about you. You are such a beautiful lady, some people are just born with beautiful features and you are one of them. I hope you can stay motivated. One thing that sometimes helps me (sometimes it doesnt) is I think of the alternative. I can either try and do this and do it well or I can stay depressed and fat. Every couple of days I get discouraged and want to say forget it I dont care anymore, but I wait, I stay OP and wait and a couple days later that feeling is gone and I am ready again, then here it comes again. Its such a ridiculous cycle that I get so tired of but I stick with it and I hope you will too, you have done really really well, almost 20 lbs gone. You are half way there!!

Thanks. I appreciate your response. I am going through exactly that! I want to lose the weight...If i quit now, I will surely gain it all back. It's the emotional eating that is most difficult. I think I am a bit sad and lonely right now and that is why I am struggling. I have been trying to push that sadness down...writing about it now is making me deal with it (probably a good thing).

Hi guys. WI yesterday and was down 1.8 for a total of 10.2. (Sheldon, you were right). They didn't mention the 10 lb board though. The person who did my wi was not someone I had seen before, so maybe she forgot?

Feeling very good and staying OP this week. I can really tell that my clothes are getting baggy on me. A few items have already been put into the donation bag. I also cleaned my closet out this past weekend and found a lot of things that I should be able to wear after another 10 lbs. I love finding clothes I forgot I own.

I'm going to try and get some of the Sea Thin this week.

It's a deal!!! I was down 2 at WI today!! Since the ticker doesn't reflect 1/2's I'm actually at 174.5, so I still need another 1.5 to get the board.

We CAN do it Rocki! Hang in there with me!!!

Now, I'm off to walk on the treadmill and watch American Idol... Gotta support our local celebrity (David Cook is from Blue Springs MO, just up the road a bit from me)

Default Metabolic Research Center more questions and need help!

Hello to all,
I also have a few questions to add to the ones above.
I am wanting to go in tomorrow for a consultation at MRC.
I know that they have meal replacements. Do theirs contain soy or soy products? I am sensitive to soy and need to be careful. Also is there a lot of art. sweetners in the food items they sell? I know that this is not like Jenny Craig, but do you purchase their food/meal products. I was reading some of the past post and they are talking about soup mixes from MRC. Is this a meal replacer?
Do you all cook for your families and then cook for yourselves, or can you cook for the whole family? We tend to cook with whole foods and little to no processed foods.
Also I was reading Donuts post today and he spoke on Green Tea, CortiTrim, and Sea Thin. Are these sold by MRC? and what are they?
What does life after MRC look like to those of you who have reached maintenance?

I have been on and off of WW for 3 years and I confess I am a WW failure for not being able to stop eating snacks hear and there and sabotaging everything! I will lose a few and then celebrate!...with food What draws me to MRC is the more one on one counseling. I know I am a big emotional eater and would love some help and insight into this area! But I also feel that for me this is a spiritual issue.... I guess I am pretty discouraged right now.
I know it will not come off all tomorrow but I would just like it to go down consistently and continue to go down! It is also hard to see the weight only go down by half pounds!
Have any of you out there who are on MRC dealt with emotional eating!
Sorry for all the questions, I want to know as much about this from people who have been on it before I go in. I just don't want to fail at another program!

I'm sorry our talk made you withdraw a little. I know what you mean 'cuz I use to be the same way until I learned there are so many more disfunctional families than functional ones! I realized I wasn't the only one & my situation certainly wasn't the worst either. There are times I can talk openly about my childhood, other times I can't.

As for staying motivated - lately I've been having problems also. To be honest I'm suprised I lost at all at WI today. I'm usually fine for breakfast, but lunch & dinner - nope... Not eating bad stuff. Just not eating off the menu. I have resigned myself to be completely OP beginning tomorrow. It's kinda like 3MM said, it's a cycle for me. I do great for a week, then just wanna say "screw it"!

You've lost 19 pounds Deanna! THAT is something to be very proud of. It's an amazing accomplishment!

Shineon - Way to go on the loss today!!!! You're awesome inspiration!

Goal4Life - The Glamour Shots is a cool idea. I've always wanted to go there. But, I hate my picture taken. Maybe one of these days I'll have your confidence.

Boomer - Congratulations on the loss at WI today! Great start! 10 pounds already!!!! You're doing awesome!

Shineon - Won't be long until you are in a 12. I promise!!! You are practically melting away!!!
