Question

My breakfast is a yogurt smoothie - 0 grams of fat and a granola bar dipped in chocolate - 7 grams and a flavored sugar free water. I had another granola bar for a mid morning snack and for lunch I had a lean pocket and now I'm eating some rice pudding. This afternoon I'll have some yogurt and for dinner I'll have some ground turkey and a veggie and then top it off with sliced peaches and whipped cream. I certainly don't feel deprived. My exercise tonight will be scraping the wall paper from the walls. Don't give up, you'll start losing faster than you know it! :smug::carrot: |
I lost 10 pounds, but it was my first week of doing ANYTHING, so you know what that means: water weight. I know not to expect so much this week, but I'd love to hit that first target (238). I'm still doing well and enjoying the new meals I am preparing from the alli site. Last night, my daughter and I made honey mustard chicken on the grill, corn on the cob, and had strawberry/blueberry shortcake with angelfood cake and ff Coolwhip. What's not to love about that?? I am starting to like to cook (miracles do happen!). It's exciting to try something new--gives you something to look forward to, which helps when you are hungry and trying hard to make it home without stopping at McDonald's.
Good luck everyone! Julie |
Paula, how are your clothes fitting (the same, tighter or looser)? I have learned by pure accident that when I eat more protein I lose faster. I eat a lot of hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs (whites only) and skinless boneless chicken breasts. For me pure sources of protein seem to really help my weight loss. Hang in there!

Hello all, I hope everyone is enjoying their successess. Tomorrow will be one week on Alli, and the last weight in I'd lost 4lbs. So I'm happy about that, I believe I would have had a 2lb loss, but Alli helped with the other 2lbs.
One of the main reasons I like this diet pill is because it promotes diet, exercise and just doing it the right way. In this it makes me feel like I"m doing it myself, not something else doing the work for me. It will make me in the long run feel like I've accomplished it on my own. No matter how long this road is for me and others, I hope that we never forget that we did this on our own, not just with the "pill", because the pill won't do a thing if you are not dieting. Someone told me the other day that its an "accelerate" (Sp?) Meaning it helps you speed up maybe what you've already lost, give you 2 extra lbs to your 3 lbs. Something similar to that. I said I wasn't sure people would like you calling it that, but thats what others may see. Anyway, good luck to all, and I hope we all keep achieving this success however long it takes. |
Julie WTG, 10 lbs!! :broc:
Shandee 4 lbs is great! :carrot: Quote:
SASCS Havent really noticed a difference in the clothes yet. I will try to pay more attention to my protein sources. Thanks for all your help! :thanks: |
pjbeau, glad to hear that your body is starting to cooperate. Will you be getting lots of exercise when you camp? if so that will be good for you.
Hopefully me Alli will arrive tomorrow (remember, it was help up in Customs?) I am really anxious to start. |
Paula - I love your posts, can relate to how you feel about 'this time.' I've been taking alli for one week, lost 2 pounds. I'd been dieting for several weeks before that (have lost 15 total), so didn't expect the BIG loss you see from people their first week. I feel pretty good - no TE's, no problems. I think the biggest AHA or me has been that the trick is eating ENOUGH fat without going OVER. Because alli is only effective if you eat some fat/calories for it to do it's magic on. If you eat too low fat, it doesn't have any thing to work with. Good luck, and hang in there. This IS your time.
|
Thingirl - Yes, I plan on walking some of the trails. This is a large campground with paved roads, so I'm going to ride my bike a couple times a day too.
Santafe - Thanks for the nice words. |
Hello! I've been thinking about giving Alli a try, but then talk myself out of it saying its too expensive and that I can eat low fat on my own but lets face it. If that were the case I wouldnt be almost 100lbs overweight. So I spent the morning reading through your posts and I have to say, your support of one another is amazing! I've decided I'm going to give Alli a try. I deserve it! I figure the cost of Alli is MUCH less than the cost of diabetes, heart disease or any other disease I am risking by being this weight.
I am going to do my couple of days of low fat eating and get started. Probably not the best time to start with the 4th upon us but like someone else here said is there ever a good time? I can still celebrate the 4th and not eat like a piggy. My family is going camping this weekend its just going to take a little extra planning thats all. I can do it! Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. And thank you all for such great insite. I think what stuck out to me the most is that, this isnt a magic pill, its a tool. If something can make me more mindful of what I put in my mouth than it really truly could save my life. Thats worth all the money in the world isnt it? |
Melissa - :welcome2:
My family is going camping this weekend too. Like you said, just a little planning and we can stay on track. I have already prepared and frozen my extra-lean burgers, and I plan of having a ton of fruit a raw veggies available for my munchies. Oh, and drink lots of water. Good luck! |
I began Alli on Tuesday, June 26 and have just now found this forum. I've dealt with a lot of slack from my friends for taking Alli since I'm not technically obese, but I'm desperate to lose about 15 pounds. It seems that no matter how much I exercise and watch what I eat, nothing works to slim down my thighs and badonkadonk butt. I live in Charleston, SC about 10 minutes from the beach, and for once I want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit and maybe get a little more confidence from it all.
I haven't experienced any of the adverse effects that are listed with the pills. I've always had issues with umm...err...constipation and often take probiotics to help...umm...err...eliminate. Does anyone know if probiotics are still okay to use while on Alli? |

On a side note ladies a TMI FYI;): be careful when eating anything with sorbitol or malitol in it. Those sugar alcohols can cause a person to have loose BMs on a regular day(like in sugar free fudgsicles). I'm betting they would NOT be a pretty combo when taking alli.:o Even if you normally have a high threshhold before you get side effcts from the sweeteners, I wouldn't push it with alli. Just eat cautiously :) |
Well I am 1 week in and had my "check-in" on the Alli website. I didnt lose, well I did, but then it came back...I had lost 2lbs within the first 3-4 days, then when I weighed in today I was right where I started, but I think it is water retention! I feel PUFFY!!! I am sure within a day or so I will show a pretty good loss for last week, well at least 2 lbs...lol
So here is to another week!!! Good luck all |
I'm starting my 2nd week, I feel great. My weight in is thursday.
|
today is my first week on alli. I gained 3 pounds @_@
But my TOM is just around the corner, so I think it might be that. *Crosses fingers* |
Wow... everyone is doing GREAT! My tom showed up this weekend and I am really really bloated... so I put off my official weigh in. The scale said that I am up 2lbs from my lowest point. Understandable...my weight can fluctuate by 5 pounds when tom is here! :)
I am going camping in three weeks too...and I have been really struggling with what to do. I asked dh if he thought I should take the pills, we will be camping at a "primitive campground" no toilets...only out houses! Ugh! But Like the rest of you... I don't want to quit taking the pills go camping and come back with an extra 5lbs to lose! I need to learn how to behave all the time...not just when I want to. So I think I will continue my alli regimen... cross my fingers... and take a porta potti in case of emergency! It is so great to hear how everyone is doing! Keep it up! :) |
My favorite dessert
Now that it's summer time, my favorite cool off dessert (not ice cream!) is an italian ice. They have 0 fat grams. It's a nice treat on a hot day - or if you're craving something sweet. And don't mind getting red lips and a tongue if you eat the cherry! :D
It's fun being on alli. It's made me more imaginative when thinking about food instead of the same ol burgers and fries. Alli has strengthened my will power too when sweets or high fat foods are in front of me. It makes me think of the "after I eat it" - running to the bathroom. I can't say it enough - I **love** seeing those little orange oil spills! |

HI all - glad everyone is doing so well. I still keep going back and forth. I have changed my diet over the last few days to eat more of what I think I would eat if I was taking Alli. My diet was mostly protein and very low carb with a good smattering of healty fats. I have added a bit more carbs and decreased the fat and I have dropped a couple of pounds. I also changed up my workouts using Jillian Michaels book Maiking the Cut. I am still tempted to give it a try and may pick them up today at Walmart. Will keep you all posted and hope you all have a TE free day! Suzyq
|
I have not had one orange oil spill.I am on day 4.Do you think I am doing something wrong?
|
Fitbyforty: I have been on for one week, and haven't had any TE's of any kind. I think we are doing it EXACTLY right. Eating well, staying under the fat grams (but not too far under, so that we get the benefit!). That's the whole thing - if you do it right, and follow the plan, you shouldn't experience anything unpleasant. Good luck.
|
You sound like me....I am on day 3 and no orange spill. I am eating low fat to begin with because I do WW Points. I am wondering if this will work on me because of the low fat I am already eating. I normally do not eat more than 7-9 gms of fat per meal.
|
I have been on Alli for almost two weeks. No TE or any oily orange things. I have definitely lost weight and inches. I thought I was eating pretty low fat, but was surprised at some foods when I started using FitDay.com. I know my portion sizes were off too. So between Alli and FitDay.com I am being more conscious about my choices and portion sizes. I have notice in some of the previous posts that many people are making better choices even when they forget their pills at home or didn't take one. Since I wasn't born with willpower I am willing to purchase it in this little pill. For me it is working. Keep up the good work everyone!!! I can't wait to change my tracker on Thursday!

hi all
I have been reading this forum for a while now. I have been on Alli for a week and half I think..am noticing majour weightloss.. I am not 100% careful in what i eat but I know its much smaller portions. I have not had any real TE (one time I saw them orange oil blobs.. I was like WOOOWW)... not gasy or anything like that. I exercise at least 4 or 5 days a week (I do a 45 min spin class or hop on the pre-core for like a half hour or so). I am at 255 lbs so I have a LOT to loose. I do have a question though.. and I may be very guilty for my own actions... but.. I LOVE watermelon.. when I say I LOVE.. I mean.. I REALLY REALLY LOVE WATERMELON.. and fruit in general..... now I know its good to have fruit.. but... could you have too much fruit.. I could eat a whole watermelon ALL BY MYSELF in like 1 day if I am home.. or 2 days while I am at work.. I also eat lots of other fruit.. cherries... nectarins.. peaches.. all that beautiful summer fruit. Now.. even know those things don't have fat.. they have TONS OF CALORIES.. I looked it up on fitday.. and a watermelon could have up to 2000 calories!.. so my question is.... is fruit is what making me not loosing weight as fast as others...??? Thanks all Sherry P.S I don't JUST eat fruit.. I have a normal breakky /lunch dinner and snaks.. the fruit is something extra.... |
Wow, I lost a total of TEN pounds since my first day (last Tuesday). TEN POUNDS. If you look at my FitDay on Sunday, there is no justification for this....... my hubby's work cookout had all these food items that the whole family enjoys, and of course, I went way over on that day.
I will say, I have played tennis twice this week, as well as tried out the new 3 lb hula hoop I ordered yesterday for about 15 minutes, so maybe different exercises have been helping out a bit. Ten pounds? After what I ate on Sunday? :?: |
Wow, congratulations on the 10lb loss Steelslady. I've been on Alli for about a week now, My weigh-ins are sporadic, so not sure when I'll do the next one, I had 4lbs last week. Congrats to everyone who just had a weigh-in/loss.

Hi Egyptian Princess- It is great that you love fruit, but if you are having it on top of your three meals and snacks it might be too many calories. Have you tracked your calories on fitday? I eat a lot of fruit too. I have berries with my oatmeal for breakfast, a piece of fruit and some protein for a mid-morning snack. Usually salad and chicken for lunch-no fruit. Another piece of fruit and protein (like low-fat peanut butter-I have actually found one I like) for a mid-afternoon snack, some cut up fruit with my dinner and maybe some fruit and protein before bedtime. I love the variety in the summer. I am tracking my calories on fitday and it has REALLY helped me stay within my caloric limits. Hope this helps-Fruit is better than junk food and think of all the healthy fiber you are eating!

I've officially started
Well, I've started! I wanted to wait till today to get in a full healthy day first.
So far I'm having a hard time fitting in enough calories w/out going over the daily fat limit. I don't want to have too little calories and go into starvation mode. I'm eating fruit and veggies out the *** and still need more calories!!! |
Started Alli today!
Hello to you all:) My name is Dee and I just started Alli today after reading all of your posts for the past two weeks. It's nice to have knowledge of what you are getting into! This seems like a great forum and I look forward to meeting you all. It'll be nice to have support from women who know what you are going through. Talk to you soon!

Alright I'm discouraged. I've been eating a low fat diet and taking ALLI for almost 2 weeks now. I've been eating low fat the whole time with the exception of 4 cheats that were contained to one meal each..I know that's bad but we happened to be at restaurants that didn't have low fat fare. Anyways I haven't lost a single pound and I'm gassy all the time.
What's the deal??? I had a baby in October and once I went back on birth control pills I gained 15 pounds and it seems like my weight won't budge. I'm not giving up but I'm giving it one more week and if I'm still not losing I'm going to talk to my doctor about it. I'm eating Kashi cereal with skim milk, or a 100 calorie english muffin with a wedge of laughing cow light cheese for breakfast. Lunch is a Weight Watchers entree with some brocolli or other veggie on the side. Supper is lean meat on the grill with roasted veggies and fruit and of course lots of water. Before this I was eating LOTS of chocolate, ice cream and fatty fried foods so why am I not making progress?? |
Discouraged
:stress: I know what you mean about being discouraged. I dropped 6 pounds the first two weeks of my diet and since I've started taking the Alli two weeks ago, I've gained a pound each week! I know I wasn't on plan last Friday because I was at a meeting out of town and it was either eat a little of what was served or not eat at all. But I'm going to keep on truckin' and do the best I can. It has to budge eventually in the right direction!
Had my first little TE episode, nothing horrible, just the slick in the toilet bowl. At least I know the stuff is working! I'm trying to not over do the fruit or the carbs. Tonight I think I'll have some swordfish for dinner and some steamed veggies. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July! |
Okay, despite my trepidation about this I'm actually considering purchasing a starter pack. My question is, however... Do you think it's really worth the money? It seems so expensive!! I am a poor college student so when making a purchase this big on something that may or may not work, I am a little nervous. Any advice?

Aces & Bobbi,
I'm curious, are you eating the full amount of calories suggsted in your program? I'm noticing alot of people mention that they still limit their calories to 1200/1300 even though their program suggests 1800. I'm curious because Alli prevents us from absorbing calories. So, if someone is eating only a 1200 calorie diet and a portion of that isn't even digested...perhaps that's putting your body into starvation mode resulting in no loss or a gain?? I'm following the ww program instead of the alli program and always eating at the high end of my range to make sure I'm eating enough but I'm limiting my fat to 15 per meal (and 50 grams per day). It's amazing how much MORE I eat because the low fat foods are so few points!! |
Lessthan,
I've only just started so I can't answer the "is it worth it question". But for me, I'm using this to get me started. Give me the willpower to get through the first couple of months (which is when I tend to cheat and just "start over tomorrow"). I know once the weigh starts coming off then I'll have the motivation to do it on my own. |
Good morning all, happy birthday USA! :celebrate:
I eat my calories allotted to me, staying between 1600 and 1700 per day. I think maybe my system is just readjusting itself. We'll see come Saturday which is my official weigh in day. I have plumbing duty today - both toilets in the house are getting new guts. One was leaking until I shut off the water supply for it. Since I'm fixing one, I'll just replace the innards in both. Don't want them going out if I may be needing them quickly! :D |
Hi everybody, my Alli finally arrived today! Taking my first pill with dinner tonight.
Hope everyone is enjoying the 4th of July. :) |
