Thumbs up working out is easier and easier

well, i did it again yesterday. i did a yoga tape and my 15 mins on gazelle, and situps and pushups!

i'm struggling this week with eating well..but i think all of the "bad food" is now out of the house, and i should be able to do better. i started making sure to take no money with me when i leave so that i will not be tempted to stop off at mcdonalds on the way home from work, and that alone should bring off a few pounds.

oh, and we went to the drive-in movie last night, i usually so much at that thing, but last night, i kept it really moderate, i had some sweet tarts (instead of chocolate) and a small order of french fries instead of a value meal. i read something on one of the threads, i don't remember which one...she said she doesn't think of it as a diet, but as individual choices that have to be made. what is healthy, what will be better for my body, etc...and i think that is what it is coming down to for me. if i really want something greasy and i deprive myself, i will get frustrated. but if i eat it in moderation, it will be more likely a lifestyle change instead of a "diet"...
so, that's where i am today. i think i am going to go do some cardio this afternoon and go back to the yoga before i get ready for bed. hey, maybe i'll even get in more than an hour!

Thumbs up Day 3 and goin strong!

Mornin Chiickas,

Day 3 checked off. 65 min. on the elliptical.

Looks like we are all hanging in there. Good to see the progress.

Hey Vicki-Is Goya the same as bitter melon? The bumpy looking cucmber thingy? It is really popular in asia neh? I understand you have to soak it in salt water to get rid of the bitter. Let me know how it is!

Holly-sounds like you are making solid decisions. You are making great lifestyle changes. It has to be gradual. We are letting go of things that have been part of our lives for a long time. You are doing great.

Evening Chiickas,
Day three down! 40 min on treadmill and 20 on bike. I just got back from the gym. I am so tired.
Shrink,
The more you exercise the more it will help with your food. You are so right about not having it in the house.Diets are temporary, some people do luck out and keep it off. making a lifestyle change is what I have done. It has been easier since my hubby has done it too. It is so about being healthy now.
1nce,
Yes, it is that nasty bitter stuff. I don't want to soak it in salt because of swelling. But I am gonna try it in stir fry. I am gonna use chicken and not Tofu like the Okinawans do.I can't believe you can't find a job as an Xray Tech. My dad is a Radioligist, he would have been thrilled if I was an Xray Tech. Who knows I am going back to school starting this fall. Is your hubby navy, mine is.
Amy,
Did you get my reply to your pm? I sent one back. Isn't that girl who won surviver from where you are from? Tina?
Well, I am out of here and off to bed. By the way my 16 yr old son got his license today.

Thumbs up Hump day over!

Well, just got home from the gym. Another 65min on the elliptical-woohoo! Looks like everyone else is right on track

Vicki-Yip-my husband is Navy. 23 years. Another 2 and I think we are done. About the job, I had a great Xray job back in the US, I hated to leave it. The base we are attached to here is quite small. Nothing like Okinawa or Yokosuka. More small town-relatively speaking. We don't even have a hospital, just a clinic that is overmanned with enlisted Xray techs already. Anything the clinic can't handle gets shipped out to a Japanese hospital or flown to Okinawa or Yokosuka. I might try to work on my mammo certification prior to returning to the US. Might as well take advantage of all this free time! How did the goya turn out?? I am anxious to hear what you thought. Have you enjoyed the japanese food so far? When ever my husband passes through Okinawa, he alway eats at "Sams by the sea" He loves that place. Have you been?

Thumbs up Done?

Hey all!
I am trying to remember. . . Is this 1 week challenge M-F or 7 days?
Anyhoo. . .5 Days down! Woohoo! I really wanted to peek at the dang scale again, but saved myself by drinking water and coffee. I won't get on the scale after anything enters my body. It messes with my head enough already
Hope everybody had a great day!
Vicki-thanks for the B-day wishes I am 42!
So-your hubby works with the ammo? Is that right? My husband is a GSM, but has been a craftmaster for a few years now. How long does your hubby plan to stay in?

5 Days!!!!!

Hey shrink and everyone else! I am 5'4" and 162 lbs (down from 169) I am losing my baby weight also and desperately trying to be toned and slimmer than I was even before my babies (3yr old daughter and 8 week old son) I bounced back great after child number one but this last baby took a big toll on my body. I have been following the Atkins nutritional approach for 8 days and have lost 7 lbs and 3 1/4 inches from my stomach and 1 inch off my thigh and hips! I am eating this way for life! right now my exercise routine consist of "callanetics" and carmen electras aerobic striptease workouts and sometimes I do "slim in 6" If you wanna start a daily check in on progress I would love to join!

Smile Morning Mom!

Welcome! Sounds like you are doing great on the exercise. Did you want to do a week long commitment or what did you have in mind?

Hey all,
I have been so busy the last two days. I got through another dental appt yesterday. Big step for me.
I didn't work out last night but Fri is our date night. Today we got up early and went and walked the shops. This is all outside. I think I lost a gallon of sweat.I found a skateboard shop for the boys. We are going to a movie later and then run home and eat then off to the gym.I like to keep Saturdays busy and leave Sundays for cleaning and catching up on things.
1nce you are ahead of the game. I thought it was exercise 5 nights out of a week for an hour. Anyway, you go girl. I weigh every Monday morning before I eat a thing. I can drink a bottle water and be up two so I don't step on it or I freak out.
About Hubby, He does do Ammo. He is undecided right now about how long he will stay in. He is going back to school this fall to finish up. Sea Duty interfered with school. I think if he makes senior he will stay in.
Mom, Glad to see you again. 1nce, mom is a military wife too. Mom, we would love to have ya. Just tell your progress everyday.
Amy,
I talked to my bestfriend and I''l pm you the info.
Keep up the fight girls.
Vicki

Thumbs up Saaaaaaaaaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I did it! Two days off and I plan to do it again next week! I am dying to get on the scale, but will wait till Monday morning as well.

Hey Mom! East coast! I moved here from Virginia Beach, where I called home. My oldest son is still there. I miss the east coast.

Hey Vicki-way to get through the DDS! I was a dental asst. for 5 years. It's what really got me interested in the medical field and pushed me to go back to school.

You guys have a great weekend. See you at the scale on Monday Vicki!

Hey all,
Today is Sunday for me. We went to the gym last night so I completed day 5. For some reason I was so sore last night. I could hardly sleep.I hope it was fat burning. I sent my family a pic with the digital camera. It was so nice to get all the nice emails back. Some times I think the brain tries to trick us by making you think you haven't lost or it doesn't show even though you have gone down sizes. Things like getting into smaller sizes are the ways to keep going even when the scale doesn't move. I only lost one last week so I am wanting a big lost. We will see.
1nce, I have one last Dental appt to get through this week. Hey, I was thinking today how I miss walmart, lynnhaven mall, bath and body, and just going shopping with the girls. I go here but you know what I mean. I have two bestfriends that I have been bestfriends with all my life and one of them is stationed in Italy and she has no exchange and she said the commisary is smaller than a 7-11.She was in Vb with me and we shopped almost every weekend together.Hubby's just aren't the same. I have met a few people here but most have little ones. I am so ready to start working. I worked 60 hrs a week in VB.
Well, I hope everyone is doing great! See, ya'll tomorrow on the scale.
Vicki

Smile TJmax, Panera, Zia Maries, Pier One, Target . . .

I could go on and on about the things I miss. The comissary here has only 3 checkout lines and the exchange is divided up into 3 different buildings. We are talking small. They are building a new one to have eveything under one roof, but don't think it will be done much before we leave here.

I am in the same boat when it comes to girlfriends. The one great friend I did make here moved back to Portsmouth a few months ago. Everyone else seems to have little ones. I want to go, do, and travel-w/o little ones in tow.

So-how cool! 5 Days! You did it!!! Doesn't it feel great? I have enjoyed sleeping in this weekend, but I am actually looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow. Are we on again for another 5? Or did you have something else in mind for next week?

I hear you about work too. I am going nuts. Thank goodness my boss called me to pick up two extra classes this week. I need to get out of this apartment!

I will be thinking about you and your dental appt. this week. You can do it-last one and its all over-till your next cleaning. I need to get in too. When my husband was in Kuwait he sent me dried figs-cracked a tooth on one but man were they yummy!

Mom & Amy-Are you still with us?? Chime in and let us know how you are doing.

Well, I am going to bed early again-just so I don't eat anymore. I will see you all after the big weigh in tomorrow!

Have a great night/day!
