HIS - There are some days when I can't think about anything except the run, but on the easier days, there's almost that zen-like mental state.
Amen to that!
I'm not bonking on runs, yet...I am hitting a wall later in the day though - mid-afternoon usually.
Linda - As a Raven's fan, I am all about seeing both Brady & Rothlisburger take big doo-doo's this weekend Go Chiefs!
I have to admit, I think I would have been disappointed with OIAJ as my first big breakfast in P3. I find OIAJ great for grab-n-go since you make it the night before...but there is something ethereal about seeing a plate of eggs, breakfast meat, yogurt and a slice of nut-buttered toast in front of you...like being at IHOP I guess too this far into maintenance, the shine of OIAJ has worn off some is the tangerine water enhancer new to IP?
Loser - I would love to go snowshoeing sometime! I hope DH & I can head west / NW to go skiing in February at some point!
- Positive: I woke up this morning and was able to go out and run
- Negative: I woke up this morning with tummy issues
Thought I was ok when I left out and took the hilliest route...at least today I made it to the gas station (no pre-run food either)...but I am still having issues
Needless to say, it wasn't my best run and I never reached the zen-state I love so much as I was too concerned with my belly.
I was also a little upset by the 3# scale jump this morning - and I just feel fat and bloated...but I know it goes with the tummy issues.
Curious if its the total increase in carbs...the broccoli and fresh garlic I had last night...or maybe even Saturday nights meal working through..? I know its not a flu b/c otherwise, I feel fine - had steel cut oats soaked in cashew milk overnight with 1/2 a banana for breakfast and a hard boiled egg with salt for snack.
I had an indulgence meal Saturday (DH fixed his amazing chili and I made fresh corn bread with honey) but I didn't think it was too horrible given the amount of exercise I had done (2,200 calories total for the day) - and Sunday morning the scale was fine.
Guess I will see where things shake out tomorrow.
...and RIP Ziggy / David Bowie - you are part of the stardust now

As a Dolphins Fan, I am right there with you on Brady and Big Ben!
Don't sweat the 3#, it is all related to tummy issues. You had a TON of fiber in the last 2-3 days (chili, oatmeal, broccoli) on top of everything else you ate. I feel certain that this is a direct result of that and when you are bloated from a lot of fiber, it wreaks havoc on the scale. Maybe try to keep it light and lean today (not a lot of fiber) and the issues will likely subside and the scale will regulate.

LOL!!!
Thanks Jenny...kind of was thinking that but too late - started the morning with a serving of steel cut oats and lunch was left overs from last night (oops)...tomorrow is cross training day so yes, I will definitely go light & lean. Once the bloating subsides though I should feel great
ETA - at least I know what the problem is - broccoli!!!!!!!!! I generally don't eat much - folks with hypothyroid are suppose to avoid them, especially raw...but yah, this is right up there with what cabbage does to me - omg I puffed like a puffer fish after lunch this afternoon

4 mile run for me today, and I reached a new PR for average minutes per mile: 8:57. NEVER did I think I could run at this pace, and that was on hills! I don't know if it's a result of the training or changes to my diet (yay carbs!) or a combination of both. Losing a couple of pounds since mid-December probably hasn't hurt, either. I'm currently hovering around 155/156, still hoping to drop down around 150 as my half marathon training increases.
No tummy troubles lately. I'm really careful not to eat a lot of fiber in the evening before a run that's over 2 miles, and that seems to be working.
RE: football. I live in Cowboys country but Jerry Jones is an idiot, so I have a hard time getting behind the local team. I wish they'd pick up RGIII. I cheer for Green Bay. Love Aaron Rodgers. Tom Brady, not so much.
Lmao - reformed Redskins fan here (can't stand Dan Snyder)...but it was a lot of fun in Washington when RGIII was the hot rookie...but he got too big for his britches - and I appreciate all the great QBs (Manning, Rogers, and even Brady) but Billi-cheat is a different story (luv u Linda )
Congrats on the PR my first goal with the 1/2 in early March is making sure I'll be able to make the distance - then this spring I am going to work on improving my times. The 9's I ran for the 5k don't really count...it was a mostly downhill course
And yah - learned my lesson about too much gaseous, fiberous foods. I ordered probiotics today - I lose my office in 4 - 6 weeks and go into open cube so I kind of have to take care of my issue
Hi all -
Last week our lunch at our friends new house was cancelled due to illness. It was rescheduled for this past Sunday. DH was nice enough to explain my diet to her and tell her that she should not worry about me as I would bring my own meal. Later she sent DH a recipe for feedback. She went out of her way to prepare a low carb meal with a cauliflower and chicken and what sounded like an IP friendly salad and dressing. It did have a few non IP olives that I picked out. It was very good. It was such a thoughtful thing to do.
Bitter cold here near the frozen tundra of Wisconsin (Go Pack). Walking outside is a no go as we had rain (now ice) before the cold spell. Went to gym today and spent a little time on the treadmill. Did a few, very short running intervals.
Time to begin packing for the cruise so I can send my suitcases down with my parents (they leave Thursday). I am hoping that the have good weather to travel.

I don't know why you are loosing your office but think about it...if you don't solve the little 'gaz' issue...they won't want you in the open cube area soooooo...you might get your office back!
Oh my peeps....I see it's going to be like talking politics through the playoffs....
Quick check in this morning before I go in to workout- things good-staying away from the scale this week-harder than I expected....
Yes Beth, it's a new product and i LOVE it - glad it's a freebie
Made pizza last night- OMG - why didn't I do this sooner????
Used Janeva's potato puree recipe for the crust some WF tomato basil sauce, 4 oz roast beef and left over grilled asparagus-with a side of romaine- simply YUMMY!!! Going to make anouther tonight with some chicken and WF bbq sauce.
Congrats on 8 minutes HIS!!!
Beth-Good luck with getting that worked out-
Sue- what a thoughtful friend!! Be careful with all that ice!!
Have a great day everyone

I keep forgetting to try this and have a potato puree packet just for that purpose!
Also, RE: Playoffs - I'm originally from Massachusetts - me and my parents have matching t-shirts that say GRONKOWSKI - POLISH FOR TOUCHDOWN with a picture of the polish falcon! So, I'm with you, Destony!

Beth- probiotics will do WONDERS for your issue I take (3) per day. (1) upon waking and wait at least 20-30 minutes before putting anything else in my stomach. (1) one hour before lunch and (1) one hour before dinner. However, I would recommend that you work up to that dosage. They are little miracle workers, though.
Mid-week check has me down to 145.2, so I am officially over the 20# mark and inching closer and closer to goal. Phew. I have to admit that it feels pretty darn good to know that I am more than halfway through this reboot. I feel armed and ready to tackle maintenance (the right way!) and I do not feel scared the way I did the first time.
jenny, I think it's awesome how informed you are about your diet. So many people on protocol just want to be TOLD what to eat and when, and then they're lost when they get to P4.
Linda, hahaha. I know that in Texas, football is right up there in importance with religion and guns. I never had pizza in P1, and still haven't had it in maintenance. The thing is, I grew up in a mainly Italian community in NJ, home of the best pizza on the planet, so I'm of the mindset that if I can't have the real thing, I'd rather not have it at all.
Sue, I lived in Oshkosh for two years. Wisconsin winters are something I'll be happy to never see again. BRRRRRRR. Be safe on the snow and ice.
Beth, I hope your issue is starting to resolve. Brussels sprouts definitely have that little side effect for me. I learned to have only about 1 cup, once a week, in P1.
I'm supposed to be tapering for the 10K on Saturday, but I'm discovering that 1) I'm not sure how much less to run, and 2) I don't like running less. I ended up signing up for a 5K at the end of the month, the one I mentioned earlier with all the swag. Today I have to decide about the half-marathon on May 1. I mean, I can wait longer to sign up, but the price goes up.
Weather is beautiful today, and it's supposed to stay this way all week - except Saturday. Of course. That's race day! Grrrr. They're predicting much colder temps and rain that morning. Grrrr again.
WI this morning, stayed the same (although my home scale showed a small loss), but inches lost, so not too bad.
If you all remember, a few days ago I mentioned that we're planning to go to Florida for a few weeks near the end of Feb. and I was debating about whether to phase off before then. Well, I've been going back and forth about that in my head - there's that part of me that doesn't want to stop before I get to goal, and there's that part of me that wants to be in P4 on vacation.
I'll be at my sister's for a week, and I could stay on P1 while I'm there, but the next couple of weeks, we'll be travelling around... a few friends down there to visit, plus some exploring to see what parts of FL we like, hoping to spend a month or maybe more down there next winter, and this is a good chance to see where we might like to be....so P1 would be doable but difficult, and lets face it, a major pain!
I had a talk with my coach about all this, and she says I'd probably have a better vacation if I was in P4 by then. She thinks even P2 or P3 wouldn't help all that much, and from what you all have posted about your experiences, P2&# are much better to do at home.
And when I get back, I wold probably have to go back to P1 to finish off to et to goal. My coach is doing a small reboot just now and said it wasn't hard for her to go back to P1, and she says I understand the program so well, so I shouldn't have a problem with that.
So if I do that, with the timing, I would start P2 Jan 24, and P3 Feb 7, P4 on Feb 20
I'm really nervous about P4 while away, won't have access to a scale for a lot of the time, I can see myself obsessing....

What do you all think? Any advice?
You can always tell by the way your clothes fit if the weight is creeping up. I guess it all depends on your confidence in yourself to not go crazy on P4. Really, if you stick to what you know (follow the P4 guidelines, keep eating P1 style lunches/dinners with the little bit of added fat and carbs, be super careful with alcohol and desserts), you should be fine. Would you have much time in P4 before you leave for FL, so you could at least get somewhat comfortable with it before you're away?
Just an aside about FL... my in-laws live in Palmetto, my SIL used to live in Sarasota. That whole Gulf coast area is very pretty, and it's within a reasonable drive to a major airport (Tampa) and only 2 hours from Orlando. My MIL, a former nurse, says the health care facilities in Tampa are very good. They do have to deal with the occasional hurricane, though. I think we may look at a part-time place in that area in a few years. My husband loves to fish, and the inland waterway is a great place for that.
