I tell people all the time eating out is easy unless the only choices are bad bar food. We make it hard in our own heads - all about what we're missing instead of what we're getting to have and gaining (or NOT gaining ) in the long run. It's all in the attitude, just like staying 100% committed over a long period of time!

Or - another problem arises if we fail to plan. I planned yesterday but then walked out the door w/o packet #3 and my salad dressing. I "made due" but wished I had run home to get them when we ended up staying out much later than usual. Today an emergency pack goes in DH's car, too. I already have two in mine.

Glad they got it right (from your other post). I never understand what is so hard to remember about meat, green veggies, salad? No brainier.

We had a great time out with friends yesterday for nite #2 of hubby's birthday weekend. 2 different groups of friends. 2 different "meals" (split my protein). Sometimes being the DD gets a bit old. I'll live thru it but . Even with the adult beverages, I'm learning what I can live without and what I'll be adding back. Lower carb choices in my future for sure!

Same here. I've really changed my thinking being on this plan. I no longer view this as a temporary change. There are some things that have to change permanently. If not, I'll just find myself back at my old weight again. After all, eating and drinking the way I was before IP was how I got to be overweight in the first place!

Default ugh

I must have "selective vision" or something

I was just doing a nutrition comparison for some alts and just noticed that my go-to morning packet, IP Dark Chocolate Pudding, has soy protein isolate in it.
I had checked all the labels back when I made the decision to go soy protein-free, due to thyroid problems, so I'm not sure how I missed that one

I like this one the best b/c it isn't as sweet as most of the others.
Well, back they go to the clinic at WI tomorrow morning and I'll exchange for items without it. AND I'll be on the search for a suitable replacement for my morning smoothies. In the meantime, I have a chocolate whey protein isolate that will have to do.

All this losing weight is hard enough, why can't SOME things just be easy

On another note, my reading has taken me to natural health practitioners who say that both soy and gluten should be avoided for hypothyroid AND that fluoridated water has contributed to a huge hypothyroid increase. I'll be buying my drinking water fluoride-free as much as I can (interesting how something "good" can have unintended negative side-effects too). I'm glad I already had made the gluten choice (due to how I felt). My lifestyle is really going to be VERY different in maintenance. P3 won't have the wheat bread. Even fun days won't be able to have items with gluten (I avoided soy before IP so that won't be a problem).

Lisa, I really admire your persistence and positive attitude. Whenever I want to whine about not having some treat I like, I'm going to think of you. For many of us, not having bread etc. is just "for now".

I had some of those "Simply" chips I bought on line (the gluten free etc.) and they were ok. The spicy ones I like better than the herb and garlic. I'm not sure if they fit in with your issues but they seemed "free" of everything (including taste! LOL... ok..not that bad!!)

Good Morning everyone! I'm looking forward to a great day. It is the start of my work conference today so the vacation ends and work begins. Some of it will be good, some probably boring. All of it OP for me because I have a plan with back-up in case plan A goes sour. I think it will be a late night tonight and a long day on Monday so I don't expect to be checking in much. Hope I can reconnect on Tuesday afternoon.

Lisa, keep patrolling all those new threads and get people posting more in the daily. This happened last year too for a couple months and made it really hard to stay on top of the good discussions.
And I can understand your frustration with your food selection right now. When I first went gluten, dairy and egg free a few years ago, I went crazy trying to find food options. I ended up craving cookies and things that I never bothered with before simply because I couldn't have them. Hence my regain of 65lbs from a previous loss. Gluten free food is readily available now but isn't the healthiest option for people that don't need it because it tends to be high in sugar, fat and low in whole grain slow carbs. Rice flour has a high glycemic index and can bring on carb cravings for me. However finding food that makes you feel bad and eliminating it will improve so many other things in your life that it makes it an easier choice.
(btw, I now eat eggs again because they didn't prove to be a problem and some limited dairy is ok. I tend to stick to non-dairy/non-soy cheese, almond milk when allowed but Greek yogurt works fine so it is my indulenge once I start phase 3.)

Thanks for the reminder...I'll have to get some b/c on a 2nd look ANOTHER Of my go-tos has WHEAT that I missed the first time...grrr...
Now I'm left with ONE of my four fav salty/crunchies grrr....

I already don't eat a lot of overly sweet items (bars, cookies).
I sure am glad the tigress plan is the one for me b/c I seem to be doing a LOT of growling! The whole thing that kept me going was the fact that there were SO.MANY.CHOICES and they met needs for sweet/salty/etc.
These limits are frustrating.

I HATE all this processed food and food processors who don't give a rats ^$$ about people's health -using the cheapest ingredients they can find, rather than the best!

I'm sorry that you're frustrated, but your little "tantrum" guys are actually making me laugh.

THere you go my entrepeneurial friend -- get that food line going for people like you who want good healthy food.
And if you can invent good tasting 0/0/0 chocolate for me, that would really be appreciated too

I'm not so entrepreneurial but I know folks who are. I'm gonna pitch it today! I'd just want free food and a beach (house-strike that) CONDO WITH A BOAT! for my input

I'm not sure my tantrum is over yet, btw.
My packet-I-can-have list has grown ever-smaller
How 'bout this one instead?

Hi everyone-
I'm going to DisneyWorld in about 3 weeks with about 30 4th graders for 7 days. I'm going to be 100% OP, and know the key is planning. So I'm asking if anyone has advice. Here is the situation, days start early (around 6am) and most likely will go 'til about 10pm. If I keep losing at my rate for the last month, I'll be 3-5 lbs away from goal when trip starts. I didn't get the Disney meal plan. I could move into Phase 2 or stay in Phase 1, and don't have a preference except whatever is easiest. My guess is staying in Phase 1 may be easier? If so, I think I'm gonna need extra packets, but don't know how many. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm anxious about having energy to keep up with the kids. I was also thinking to start walking this week to increase my endurance as I've done nothing physical since starting IP. Thanks so much!

My family went to Disneyland during my first idealnprotein go around and I did phase 1 the entire time- a little difficult to get veggies in but doable. I wore a pedometer and walked about 10 miles a day for 3 days. I did not add anything- I was too exhausted to worry about another packet or anything other than the fun. I kept up with a 8 and 9 year old and my husband and was 2 pounds down when it was over. Just scope out the few places that have salad bar and remember where they are. Above all- HAVE fun!

Grrrr!! That daily is frustrating!!!! Oh I'm so hungry, oh poor me I can't eat this or that, or poor me this is so restrictive!!!!

Just frustrated!!!! And maybe a teensy bit tired and emotional....maybe I'm burning estrogen and the elusive whoosh fairy is coming my way. Everything is annoying me today!!!! Poor DH. I banished him and his bowl full of chips to the basement!

Company is gone, house is clean, laundry is laundering....leftovers for supper but I need to take out some protein.....

Hahaha!
Must be something in the air! I just bit my husband's head off for being such a sugar addict as he grabbed a coke and handful of cookies! Who do you think brings that junk into the house for everyone else? Me! I am a bit *****y today. I think it is the freezing cold-icicles in the brain.....

NSV -- 5:27 pm and I've mastered the hungries with supper yet to go. This is a big deal for me because those hungry monsters ATTACK me (seriously -- I have to fight them off!) Today, I win the battle! Bring it on hungry monster -- I've got a boiled egg and a jug of veggie soup on my side if you try to come back at 8:00!
