Hi! I don't think we've ever corresponded, but I've seen you post a lot and find you so encouraging and bubbly!

These dresses both look beautiful on you. I love your story about the black one. It seems like it is perfect for NYE. The blue makes you look like a fairy princess. For some reason, it seems to suit your personality. Have fun at your events!!!!

Rainbow - you are beautiful in both dresses, and I hope NYE is still a go so that you can wear both gowns! I'm so glad you bought the black dress when you saw it, if only to give you a concrete goal to work towards. YOU DID IT, but I'm not surprised at all. You have the inner strength that it takes, and it will take you a long way. Enjoy the parties!

well ladies.....i went with the blue dress!!! i felt like cinderella!!! its been so hard for me to PUSH myself out into the public eye.

this is the first christmas office party i have been to!! in the past, i have missed out on a lot of fun activities because of my weight and low self esteem. it was nice, to just go, and not HIDE IN THE CORNER!!!

it was a lovely evening and i was mostly 100%. i did indulge in a tiny tiny cup of some she crab soup....otherwise, had salad, green beans, a small piece of chicken breast and a smaller piece of prime rib. NO WINE!!!!!! NO BREAD!!!! NO DESSERT!!!!

after dinner, we all enjoyed a fireplace and some music and then dh and i went walking in the starlight on the grounds!! the party was at one of the southern plantations here in charleston, so it was just a perfect night. they have horse and stables there, and buggy rides, only not open during the winter, even so, i laughed out loud at one point, thinking, over there in that barn is cinderellas carriage!! haha

later back inside...enjoying coffee and good conversation...dh leaned over and whispered in my ear...you looks absolutely radiant and you are the most beautiful woman in this room!!! i was floored!! it brought tears to my eyes but i held them in! he doesn't always express himself like that, so it was a very special moment. we exchanged smiles and i knew i had taken a giant leap forward in dragging myself out of obscurity and trying to get a life back living among others and not just hiding out in the house all the time. i just might get used to this socializing!!!!!!!! hahahaha its amazing how all the extra weight, only weighed me down more socially then physically!

thanks again ladies for all your love and encouragement and support!!!!!!!!!!

not sure yet about NYE....but i hope we can go somewhere i can wear my dress, if not, i will just wear it at home!!!!!!!!!!!!

That brought tears to my eyes! It really says it all. You looked really beautiful, and soooo happy! And it's as much about what's inside as what's outside. Our weight can have such an impact on our behavior and the way we feel about ourselves.

Congrats on doing so well at the party, too! That's great that you were able to resist so many temptations!! Keep up the good work!

P.S. And there's nothing wrong with having a private party at home for NYE. The black dress will be perfect either way.

Okay girlie, I'm crying too!
I bolded your comments above that "got me". The weight does so many things to us, doesn't it? And people think it is just about the physical when it is SO MUCH MORE!

You were radiantly beautiful in your blue dress. I'm glad hubby took the special moment to say so. Sometimes they miss those. I'm married to Man Of-Few-Words. It is probably best most of the time, but I do miss some of those sentiments from time-to-time. I'm so happy for you that your dh gave you that gem

thank you!!!! you are so right...our weight does have an impact on so much of the way we feel about ourselves! i had not truly realized how much of a social recluse i had become! i never minded going places, just dh and me...but avoided social activities!!!

i felt like singing....

I'm steppin' out with my baby Can't go wrong 'cause I'm in right It's for sure, not for maybe That I'm all dressed up tonight
Steppin' out with my honey Can't be bad to feel so good Never felt quite so sunny (only i was singing the word "skinny" instead!!! haha) And I keep on knockin' wood

i know what you mean about being married to a man of few words. so yes, those rare moments tend to really stick in my head...forever!! it was so nice of him to say that i i made sure to tell him later!

its funny...learning how to handle the "feeling pretty" feeling. its a very rare thing that i have that feeling! last night, well, we were a bit over dressed!!! and in the past i would have felt awful and so self conscious, but last night i just felt pride and felt like cinderella!! i love finding the strength to be confident in myself! it takes a lot of strength for me too!! dh is good for that!! he can sometimes be over cocky confident! hahaha but i think that is the british in him! hahaha even so, those rare spoken moments, just make my heart melt! i am one lucky lady!

Rainbow - another here who has tears in her eyes, after reading your post about your party last night. You looked beautiful - happy and vibrant. So glad that you had a great time - and your hubby's comments were so touching! Just wonderful. Give him a big hug for all of us.

Just checking in to say 'Hi!' to everyone here. I'm a bit under the weather - think one of these flu/cold bugs caught me. This is definitely a day for relaxing, sleeping, and taking it easy.

Congratulations to making it out to the party and yes you easily could have been Cinderella last night. DH made it to Prince Charming in my book with his sweat acknowledgement of YOU!

I cried too! I didn't post yesterday but was looking carefully at the dresses. Both are beautiful. I didn't comment because I couldn't decide on which I liked best. But when I read your story of how you got the dresses I really agreed with what your hubby said about the color of the blue one being so flattering and it being more festive than the black one which is more formal.
I was thinking about the black one even if you want to save it till next year it would likely be easy to take in.

Such a magical evening for a beautiful lady. I was thinking it was your "coming out" evening and I know hubby must have been busting his buttons with pride to escort you.

Sounds like a wonderful evening. May it be the first of many more to come.

I went shopping yesterday. I went to the mall, more to people watch than anything. LOL it was exactly how I remembered around Christmas time - very crowded, hard to park, lines, etc. However with the weight loss I didn't feel like the Good Year Blimp walking around in all the crowds, and walking from end to end of the mall, and being on my feet for all but a few minutes (waiting for a decaf Americano) was not an issue. I had to laugh hearing the ~9 y/o boy telling his father (who was headed into Victoria Secret, kids following) "I don't want to go in there"!
