Half Again: I half-chuckled at your Good Year Blimp comment. Not b/c it is funny but b/c I've felt it. We don't have to feel that way ANY MORE!

So, small NSV feels HUGE to me:
Yesterday I did a bunch of cleaning/rearranging. I would usually need to ice my back afterward. I was busy before the party and didn't have time. And today I was fine. The weight loss is affecting EVERY aspect of my life! Even my back/hip problems ( <--that's me trying to dance with a sore back <--and me moving better 45 lbs lighter)

At the party last nite, a friend came up to me, put his arm around me and said, "Did I hear you say you'd be fifty in March?" When I confirmed, he told me I looked like I was in my early forties Then he told me I looked great! I told him about IP (he would be a great candidate) and he told me he'd call me next week. He's looking for a new job and he's afraid he won't get interviews at his current weight (health insurance liability).

I hope he calls.

That conversation sure felt good!

thanks again ladies for all your love and encouragement and support!!!!!!!!!!

not sure yet about NYE....but i hope we can go somewhere i can wear my dress, if not, i will just wear it at home!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rainbow you looked stunning!!!
Maybe you and your husband can go away overnight NYE (easier said than done at this stage) and have a nice romantic dinner so you can wear the black dress.

Want to say, Rainbow, you looked stunning and you now have a beautiful eternal memory of last night and NIgel's words to you. How wonderful. Makes me all warm inside.

We all need to take a message from Rainbow about not letting weight weigh us down in all those other areas besides the physical.

Been busy busy, road trip again at the last minute. Trying to catch up today and now back to work again tomorrow. Counting down to retirement.

My WI was 1.8#. Being an analyst by trade, I analyzed what has changed, Being on alternatives, I've realized I switched to a protein bar that has probably too many carbs for me (I think I'm super sensitive). I will switch out to others to see if it will make a difference. Sure hope so. I'd like to get back up to my minimum 2# to get rid of these last 20+ lbs.

Sorry to hear about those who have found some nasty germs. Get well soon.

As for the headaches. I know some mentioned that they will go away (just carb withdrawls) but it is also with the withdrawls and extra water being eliminated there is an electrolyte imbalance. Take a teaspoon of salt on your hand and lick it off and drink a glass of water (or put the salt in the water). You should see the headache go away quickly. Soon, a couple more days, you'll be in ketosis and things will get even better.

For traveling, you need Rainbow's IP survival bag (see in in this thread, http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...18-12-a-5.html scroll down almost to the bottom of the page) She'll tell you it was a lifesaver. I travel a lot, but mine is not this cute and organized.

to the CENTURY CLUB. Nice to have you here with us.

Molly!!!!!! you are so right....THIS IS THE BEST BUNCH OF "FRIENDS" EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the tip about the headache....and salt....wow, that really worked!!!!

Just think, by the time the holidays roll around in 2013, you'll have to find some new fancy dresses...

This makes me think that I am going to have to start looking too. I have several long gowns that I usually wear only when we go on a cruise. Going to have to do some shopping to be prepared - you never know when I'll find a good deal...
ooooo yes.....can't wait to see your dress for your cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun. You deserve every minute as you've worked so hard to get where you are right now. The rest of the journey will be a piece of cake (just don't eat it).

Luv ya, gf

I'll need to find something formal around February to go to so I can wear one of one of them. They should fit around then I'd suspect.
not sure about NYE and outing yet. as you all know, dh said he was going to surprise me with snow this year for christmas, so will have to see. i'd sacrifice NYE out for some snow for christmas!! haha SNOW SNOW SNOW....I WANT SOME SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

if i get some snow, i will make a snow angel!!

awww maezy.....you say the sweetest things!!! well i won't be too small to wear it! hahaha its actually very very tight!!! the thing too is the top is more "revealing" than i have ever been comfortable wearing. it would definitely push me out of my comfort zone!! it IS sexy and me and the word sexy never really went together!! hahaha but i'm trying to bring sexy back!! oh no i didn't just type that!! hahahaha

thank you bubbleblower!! and WELCOME to an amazing thread with the most BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT, FRIENDLY, CARING, LOVING, AMAZING LADIES on 3fc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, CRY!! What a wonderful story!!! We are all transforming ourselves!!! It's so amazing!

You look stunning in both of the dresses! Your husband sounds like a wonderful guy, too.

Last year, I remember wishing and praying that some magic would come along and I could lose the excess 70 pounds I've been carrying around for so many years. I didn't really believe it would, but wondered if there was anything that would work for me.

It is so inspiring to read all of our stories and see our successes and share our challenges and triumphs. I'm so honored and humbled to be here among all of you amazing people who have the courage to take charge and change.
awww gf.... i do understand. i don't think it an accident that we are all on this journey at the same time and have found each other in these threads. this thread is contagious!! it inspires me every day!!!!!!!!!!

i tried a few years ago, to hang out on 3fc and i was in the over 300 crowd. and there are a lot of amazing ladies there...but, there was way too much complaining and excuse making....and i had no motivation oh my own, so just faded away like so many do. then i heard a motivation speaker say, look around you, and find someone who has the success you want, and then follow them and do what they do. i tried to "FIT" (no pun intended) into other 3fc groups, but surprisingly, as in real life, some threads are discriminating against very large ladies and well, i didn't FIT in! but here....even though i have way way more weight to lose than just about anyone on IP...YOU AMAZING LADIES have made me FEEL SKINNY even at 288 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! you all have just accepted me and encouraged me and lifted me up and without all of you i would never have even been able to fit into that little black dress and it would still be HIDING....like i did, in the back of a corner in a closet.

that is why i love this 50's plus thread so much!!! there is total acceptance!!!!!!!!!! it doesn't matter if we have tried and tried over the years to lose weight without success, or if we have just now started, or if we have 10 pounds to lose or 210 pounds to lose, ALL OF YOU understand and love and accept us all!!!

for me...that is half the battle right there!! its hard to step out in the eye of someone else and admit you have a problem with food. its even harder to go day in and day out...feeling the scrutiny of the entire population practically glaring at you in disgust when you are in public so its really no wonder that the bigger i got the more i hid away in the house.

having this newfound (i want to say confidence, but its not yet) courage, to just go be in social situations is liberating!!! The transforming of losing weight and the uplifting support found here in this thread, gosh, just gives the best tools for stepping into that courage!!!

i don't want to live the rest of my life, envious of others who LIVE life instead of letting life pass me by!!!

oh gosh, this is getting too long and too mushy!!!!!!! sorry!!

i just am EVER THANKFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO VERY VERY VERY THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU!!!!!

Congrats on doing so well at the party, too! That's great that you were able to resist so many temptations!! Keep up the good work!

P.S. And there's nothing wrong with having a private party at home for NYE. The black dress will be perfect either way.
YOU are so right about the WEIGHING OF THE WEIGHT!! and ooooo i love love love your idea about a private party!!!!!!!!!!!!! that settles it...black dress is on private party or public!! woohoo!!!

You were radiantly beautiful in your blue dress. I'm glad hubby took the special moment to say so. Sometimes they miss those. I'm married to Man Of-Few-Words. It is probably best most of the time, but I do miss some of those sentiments from time-to-time. I'm so happy for you that your dh gave you that gem
lisa....you are so right!!! its just not all about the excess fat and skin. there is so much more that weighs on us!! i feel like one of those documentary shows where the person literally TAKES OFF A FAT SUIT. i want this fat suit gone!!!

Just checking in to say 'Hi!' to everyone here. I'm a bit under the weather - think one of these flu/cold bugs caught me. This is definitely a day for relaxing, sleeping, and taking it easy.

ooo i love the way you think shedit!!!! i know...right...wasn't that sweet of him to say!! i told him last night again, thank you for the words, and he said well they are true, and was shrugging off me thanking him, and i said, listen, THANK YOU...those words meant a lot to me....and i just want to thank you for thinking them and even more for expressing them!!! i think he blushed!! some british people are not prone to express themselves often!!!

I was thinking about the black one even if you want to save it till next year it would likely be easy to take in.

Such a magical evening for a beautiful lady. I was thinking it was your "coming out" evening and I know hubby must have been busting his buttons with pride to escort you.

I had to laugh hearing the ~9 y/o boy telling his father (who was headed into Victoria Secret, kids following) "I don't want to go in there"!
omg that comment by the little boy cracked me up....not just because its funny....but i said the same thing about 7 years ago when my daughter took me to the mall and wanted to go shopping...i so dislike the mall and have not been back since!!!....she is a tiny thing, size 2...and wanted to go into VS and i was at my full weight and i said NOOOOO WAY....i don't want to go in THERE!!! hahahaha so i sat on a bench in the middle of the mall watching people go by. dh laughs at me b/c he says he is on lucky man because his wife hates shopping and hates the mall!! hahahaha

Dear Rainbow, you are inspiring for everyone you meet.

That's especially nice that it's your son. Children don't often appreciate their parents. You are so lucky.

I feel lucky to just know you through this forum. So sad you're a days drive away.

You'll laugh at our road trip. On the road for 10 hours, but within a 125 mile diameter circle. On a mission to find a car trailer to eventually haul all the classics north. Had to go south to Columbus since I left my phone at my desk at work and it has the GPS. Then back up to a town a ways north of Atlanta to check out a trailer. Real piece of junk. Back down to Atlanta to then go west almost to the Alabama state line to check another trailer. Bought it, so back home, southeast. Used a tank of gas on our Toyota Tacoma that gets 30+ mpg. Oh, some of the time was spent sitting in a convenience store parking lot with the Netbook checking Craigslist, calling ads.

Can't wait ot see where Nigel takes you for snow. Surprises are soooo exciting.

Time to cook dinner. DH is out helping a neighbor with car problems. Who knows when he'll be in.

Molly

P.S. You guys were on page 2. Boo.

i have NO idea where i am going to be on christmas morning!! i thought michigan but then last night nigel said it was a state he has never been to....so i am like, say what??? we went to windsor canada and drove right through michigan and over the ambassador bridge at detroit, so that rules out michigan! haha thats the only clue he said he will give me, other than its almost guaranteed snow and it will be cold!! so now i am off to find a REAL winter coat!! i don't even own anything thicker than a fleece hoodie and the raincoat i can now fit in to! haha

OMG!!! You will be driving right through here on your way to Alaska!!!!

Just joking but if you want snow I have at least a ton of it in my back yard you are welcome to.

I was thinking of you talking about fitting in at 288. It is all relative. I think the other day you mentioned your dress was size 20. At my heaviest I was 204 pounds. At 5'' I was a size 20. So the weight has way more space to spread out over when you are tall. I likely looked way heavier at 204 than you do at 288.

Halfagain's story about the little boy in the mall reminded me of a family I saw this weekend too. It was a mother, an elderly man and a tiny girl. The adults were speaking Mandarin. Granddad sat down and mom was obviously telling the little one to stay put with him till she came back. Mom was no sooner out of sight when the little girl had granddad by the hand leading him to the Disney store and the princess dresses. She couldn't have been more than 2 and had him wrapped right around her finger, So cute, she was a little princess to him for sure.
