I'm not too concerned about any contest, but I do HIGHLY suggest everyone make a before/after photo. I am not sure I have any before body shots, but did run across a face shot. WOW, I looked like I was stung by a bee and all swollen!! LOL

Today is really my first back on the program 100%. I tell ya, my morning chocolate shake was so good. I didn't tell you, I don't think, but I was able to pass up popcorn while activated with the military, but after driving over 700 miles in that bus one day I did have 3 slices of pizza. Boy what a mistake. My belly was mad at me for a couple of days.

Thanks everyone for the nice words. It really does mean a lot to most of us in Uniform. We do what we do because we love it, and a kind word goes a long way with us. (I did post my before/after photo to that facebook page)

Yo Big Dad...break that 250 barrier man! I am hoping next Monday to smack mine down...I would love some pancakes. I drive by this awesome country diner most days, and they have the BEST freakin pancakes around, and I have had them before and know how awesome they are and as I drive by there in the morning I can smell the aroma radiating out and into my car. Oh my God I almost pass out! And of course they use home made real maple syrup locally made which is too delicious to think about. You really suck for getting me going on this! haha!

I am going to have to change driving route when going that way. Can't take passing them by!

JW had 3 slices of pizza while away...said he paid dearly for it too...so what, bet it was worth it anyway! Haha! Good job keeping it to only 3 slices JW!

Have to go grab a bottle of water now...starving as usual!
Pancakes...thanks for that thought Big Dad....

HA, this made me laugh. With only 14 lbs to go I feel like I am at the starting line of a race waiting for the gun to go off. (The race being the rest of my life after this diet)

And speaking of racing, I asked my new couch about exercising. She said that since I've been on the program for so long to do what I feel good doing. She said for me to not over do it. I have the military PT (Physical Training) test next month. 2 mile run, as many push ups in 2 minutes and as many sit ups in 2 minutes. I told her that if I even wanted to think about passing it I needed to at least get out there and start jogging. She advised for me to take it really easy this week while my body jumps back into ketosis and to just feel it out. Eat an extra protein when doing the running.

So, here's to all of us. I just feel like we need to toast ourselves for what we have been able to do thus far. (Did I say toast, I'd love some toast )

Actually, it wasn't worth it. I did pay dearly the next morning, and not to be too gross, but the others in the office had to pay too.

Really, I felt like my stomach was tied into such a tight knot I thought I would have to just stop what I was doing and go lay down.

I do plan to have pizza again, one day, in Phase 4. But, I will have to work myself back up to having something like that. (I know the day after will be strict Phase I also) Going through that just proved to myself that although I didn't have any IP foods with me, I was doing a good job with watching what I did eat.

So you had a "bathroom episode" JW...big yank! Point is you had PIZZA...I think I remember it!

Pizza is the only item I will not allow in my house while I am on program. If my wife and sons or whomever want pizza, I make them leave and go have it out at the pizza joint. Not sure why, but pizza is the one thing I crave over sweets, pastries, etc...and the only part that would knock me out of ketosis is the crust, as the meat and cheese would be bad, but not effect my ketosis.
On Atkins, I would go out fro pizza, and eat the tops off the slices! YUM!

I am planning on atkins as my "2-week maintenance" after I finish phase 1...so will already be in ketosis which will make it easier to transition. Then I will do atkins phase 2 & 3 for a few weeks and on phase 4 I can have pizza! Phase 4 is keep my total carbs down to around 80 a day (for me), the total number of carbs varies by individual. Having done Atkins for a long time, I found my "dial in number" to be 80 for long term maintenance. Not that I ever reached goal...but I did experiment toward the end there when I was stalled for 3-4 months.

Anyway...gotta get back to work! Haha!
Of course I am thinking pancakes today now thanks to Big Dad....!

I wanted to pop in and give a big THANK YOU to usmcvet, JWD, and all the other servicement, first responders, emergency personal, and military veterans on today especially. I work for a defense contractor and am continuously amazed and proud of the Warfighters that I meet and work for. Heeding the call to service for our country and citizens is something that we all can't be thankful enough for.

I feel you JWD - I had pizza for the first time in Phase 4 this Saturday (it was my 'cheat day' we are allowed in P4) and it Totally Sucked. Save the Good Stuff for your first time back - the kiddie place pizza is terrible, not anything like I remembered - I couldn't even have the booze I had saved up for the cheat day either as I was ready to pass out I was so lethargic & miserable.

I made pizza at home using cauliflower and egg whites as the crust, roasted red pepper puree as the sauce, and a little veggie cheese w/some ground turkey - that was 1000 times better in taste and physical after effects! Seriously, you know it's bad when you feel too awful to drink booze...and I was "allowed"!!!
