You are not alone in this and that is why this site is so important. We are all faced with choices each day ( be it food or anything else) and that is the skill that is so important to learn both in this program and life. I am busy giving this speech to my 13 year old daughter on a daily basis. But I realize that it is something I am also learning with IP. I know if I don't follow through on this program and make the choice to not give up at goal and tweak, cheat or relax, I will gain the weight back.

I cheated for the fist time the other night, had pizza when my family was all sleeping. After 6 weeks...I cheated. Not sure why, just got weak and made a really bad choice. The next morning , a mear 5 hours later, I weighed myself and sure enough almost 2 pounds up.
I was really mad at myself. What a fool, why did I undo a week worth or work. But I realized I am going to have a set back from time to time, I am going to have slips and bad choices and the key and true lesson, is to not let it keep going. Lets face it - that is the hardest part. Once all the compliments go away, the motivation can slip. I think that is why this blog is so key.
You can do this! You are from Iowa! ( I grew up in Bettendorf). you took the first steps, beating yourself up will only kill the motivation!

Welcome back! I am so sorry for the loss of your son. That is one of the hardest losses anyone can face.

It will be good to have you here. Jump back in on the daily thread too, we have several more men participating now than before.

I've lost almost 5 pounds already (mostly water I"m sure) but I can feel the difference. AMAZING! It creeps on so slowly you forget how good it felt to be lighter, more alert, more energy, etc.

anyway, glad to have found this thread and connected with so many of the old gang. Next thing you know, we'll hear from Novak!
WELCOME Back!! I am so happy to see you. I love your advice and recipes!

The excuses I'm not going to make any more? My 100-year old father's dying; German food; slipped disc and pain killer after pain killer after pain killer. But I did this before, taking handfuls of pain killers for fibromyalgia, so I guess I can do it again. Or make a good dent in the goal. Cheers to all of us.
I have been wondering about you! How is life? I am so glad to see you here. It will be nice to have your wisdom around on the boards!

BUT today I had a good talk with my coach and we came up with a plan...I am staying on Phase 1 until a week before we head to our winter home in AZ and then will stay on Phase 2 until I get back here next spring. Then we will go through Phase 3 and 4 properly. I know this eating plan works...we just have to make the commitment to a life change of eating.
I agree with Carla...the scale isn't going to play such an important part of this journey....getting to a place where I feel healthy is my goal.
Cheers everyone...we can do it!!!!!
Sounds like a good plan I am doing well this time not watching the scale. I am a little over 3 weeks in and 12 pounds down. It is all good! A bit slower than last time but, I am still more than 70 pounds lighter than when I first started so, it seems reasonable. I am starting to notice a change in my clothing this week. AND,............ I am having energy I never had the first time around!

Should be a great time. Getting geared up to stay on program through out my time away from home. One thing I won't have to worry about is cheats in the cupboard calling my name. We're staying in cabins along the coast which should be supper fun with life long friends staying in cabins too. I just wished I liked seafood since I know they will have a shrimp boil / cookout one evening.

Hope everyone is well and doing great.
Enjoy the trip! I love the seafood so I am very jealous and sad that you will be missing out on shrimp and crab boils.

Just was wondering if there is anyone out there that is also battling hot flashes/night sweats. I started having them about 14 years ago, went on HRT 4 times over that period thinking after I hit 60 they should be gone. So last winter I weened off them...NOW for the last 4/5 months they have came back worse than ever...especially night sweats. Anyone got any suggestions...I hate waking up 4 or 5 times a night in wet bedding

Anyway other than that little problem I am great today.

Cheers Everyone!!!
I don't yet but, you might look into progesterone creme. It has helped some people. You can google it and its benefits.

I am at my 10lb "PUT DOWN THE FORK" mark, my jeans are starting to get tight, and I've had enough! So, here we go again! I am loaded up with all my IP favorites, fresh veggies in the fridge, my bottle of water in hand - and fingers on my keyboard!!

Welcome Back! I know you won't be here for long though!

Those of you who are tracking your food, could you tell me how many grams of sugar you get a day? I'd really appreciate it.

Reading all these posts helps soooo much! I made it through a weekend at our state fair with no cheats and did awesome. Then snapped and cheated Labor Day and for my birthday. My husband brought home cheesecake? I wanted to beat him and didnt resist the goodies for long. He felt bad and said he was sorry so I'll forgive him! ;-) Back on track today which feels good and I'm ready to go work out. I'm just frustrated and wonder why we feel we need treat ourselves because "Its our 30th Bday" or whatever the case may be. I felt horrible all night and my stomach hurt to make it worse.
Thanks for all your stories it really helps!

Default Hot flashes/night sweats

After a hellish night Tuesday I phoned our local Health Food store and told her my story. She offered a sample bottle of Nutri Meno to try (I found that amazing, a sample to try BEFORE putting out money!!). Anyway I took it last night an hour before bed and TA DA.....I slept all night long!! What a nice feeling to wake up refreshed.

I had a good day today with eating, helps to have celery ready to grab and eat (I am afraid that is where my down fall is...I need something to take the place of ready to go bad snacks.

I am reading a book called Wheat Belly, it is written by a heart specialist and boy does it open a person's eyes.

Anyone heard of Dana Carpender? She has written a ton of low carb cookbooks and has a blog called Hold the Toast. She also has a weekly podcast that is very interesting.

Well got to go clean up the kitchen...made Faux Potatoe Salad, it was so
delicious!!

Have a great evening everyone!!

Default Slowly but Surely

Well my days are really crazy as I guess I'm loosing my mind. In the past 2 weeks, I've fallen with my 4 year old that was riding a shopping basket. Banged my head and chipped a tooth on a board at our new house (we're building). Tried to ride a Power Wings (scooter) and face planted on the ground after trying to manouver a curve on a downward hill. Forgot my child's swimming bag (with suit, cap, goggles) for practice only after I traveled to the pool (30 min away) with 2 of her swim mates. Sent my husband to pick up my daughter from school and bring to Dance practice one week before it actually begins for the school year. I really think I need to get away.

The only good thing is I'm down to the weight I've been holding at since last Oct. Now's the hard part to get rid of those last few pounds that I should have done last year before quitting and reach my goal.

Loved Loved Loved moving my ticker today! Hope all has a great weekend.

Well today is day 5. I am really struggling....I just don't want to eat....the omelet that I loved so much my first go around is making me gag. I can barely choke down 1/2 the salad at lunch (no salad at dinner).

I am confident if I give it my all, this will only last 5-6 weeks....I just need to dig deep for the inner strength....

Morning all, I started my day with the blueberry pudding made as a smoothie. I hadn't had this pudding before, and did like it. Does anyone have a complete list of all the IP foods a person can order? There have been a number of new items since I did the program last. TIA

I'm not the only one! I'm so glad I found this thread!

I've been somewhat maintaining (up and down) alll summer. I was using the products as supplements here and there.

Today is Day 3 back OP! and now comes the weekend, I'm a little worried but I think as long as I have a meal plan laid out I should be fine.

I have 4 months to meet goal (and I'd like to go a little under that) I'm getting married at the begining of January and although the dress fits, it'll look that much better with 15Lbs gone!

Problem is....there are the usual events that I will 'have' to cheat on ie. jack and jill, Bachelorette, but I'm still confident that I can do it!

I'm going to be coming back to this Forum everyday, which helps with the accountability.

Good luck to all my Re-starter friends!

How is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone has had a good week. This week was my 10th weigh in since restarting IP. I am finally finished losing the weight that I gained back!!!! I don't really have a specific goal weight in mind that I am going for. I think I will know when I get to the weight that is right for me, so for now my goal is to lose 25 more pounds and then my coach and I will re-evaluate again. I am so excited to finally be done losing that weight for the second time and can now start working on the rest.

Welcome back to all! I love having this thread where we can all check in and know that others can relate.

I love seeing people's names that I recognize

I am not doing IP again (can't afford it) but am really trying to take control of my life while learning to love myself where I am at. Such a hard thing to balance for me. I come often to check up on my IPers though, I know it is a plan that works so I still like to give advice on rare occasions.

This might seem random but it's a quote that really resonated with me. I was watching TV the other night and it was a woman with bulimia in rehab and she wasn't finishing her meals, her coach told her she had to start eating or she had to go home, and added "the addiction is fighting harder than you are". That's kind of how I feel my life has been. So I'm really really really fighting now. Best of luck to all of you. I hope we all get the health and self love and smoking hot bodies we're fighting for.

"the addiction is fighting harder than you are" - Totally me!
I will have to use that every time I get ready to slip. I try to tell myself that my fat demon is just trying to make me fail. Sometimes that works.
Really, the more I read and repeat your statement the more motivating it becomes. Thanks so much for posting. That is the awesome thing about this site... You never know how one small statement or remark could help a fellow IP'er at any given moment.

Happy Saturday to everyone and again thanks for sharing to all!

You are right. Stick it out and you will do fine. Find new foods this time. Try the sauteed lettuce recipe, try your veggies warm, skip the omelet and go to smoothies or pancakes (crispy cereal packet is great for that). Try to do this differently and new and it may work. When I kept trying to do it as I did I was struggling. I switched it up and I am 3 weeks in and 13 pounds off. Keep trying new things! You will get there.
