How's this for IP!!!! First off I didn't have a lot to lose. Just hyper aware of the number on the scale. I have given myself about 4 lbs and if I go over I know I need to get my butt in gear. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO WHERE I WAS!!! Anyway, the scale crept up (all my fault). Monday I stared back Phase 1 and today was back down to my comfort zone. Now it was only 6 lbs but I know that I have the tools to get right back on the wagon. Just wanted to let people know that this works and it work for life. Good luck to all and watch those pounds melt away!!!!

Congratulations!! You deserve a big pat on the back for sticking through the first week! Great job.

It looks like we are around the same weight and have the same goal. I'm a planner and am hoping to be at goal and through all the phases by December 1st. That's a year later than I had planned when I started IP last year. I guess better late than never. I put a chart up on my frig that has total weight to lose. I'm marking down the pounds and somehow that makes it easier than having my weight up there. (Also, maybe I don't want my family to see what I weigh like they can't guess by looking at me)

I'm hoping to get to my clinic today or tomorrow. Depends on what today brings for me at work. I am so looking forward to marking down some pounds on my chart.

Keep up the good work!
I can't wait to hear your results. I just know you are going to do well and get to goal this time!

Thank you! That is so reassuring and encouraging. Glad you made it back to your comfort zone so easily.

Well, I am doing ok. Going a bit slower than I wanted but moving at least. I will weigh in on monday for an official number.

I finally peeked back at the boards and found this thread. So glad I did. I have a story much like several of you. I maintained well until the holidays hit and a slow creep started. I have made several attempts to get back, but not fully engaged. I now have 15# to get back where I was.

I know it was my own fault in not realizing how deceptively strong the carb cravings would be when I ate like I used to for even a short time. One day became the next. I feel bloated and don't like how my clothes fit. Also, I am embarassed when I see those people who just knew I would gain it all back. I don't want to be that person. But above all, I don't feel as good as I used to.

It helped me to come to the boards last time, and I am sure it will help me this time. I need to find a way to celebrate with family and friends without getting out of control. Thanks everyone!

So glad I stumbled into this thread! I too have the same story. I lost 43 pounds on IP last year and fell off the wagon at Thanksgiving. I was so proud of myself that I never thought I would be back where I am today, 31 pounds heavier!

I know there are many questions about maintaing your weight after IP. As many have said in this thread, you cannot think of it as life after IP, but forever after with IP.

Honestly, my problem is that I am a compulsive and emotional overeater! I hate to write that because I know that writing it means I am "claiming" it and that is bad kharma or something like that. Overeating truly is a disease. My addiction to food seems very much like the addiction of an alcoholic or drug addict.

I think of IP as my "tool" to get to a weight that is comfortable for me. I do realize, however, that I will never be successful on maintenance until I learn to control my addiction. I actually went to an Overeaters Anonymous meeting once. Maybe I should have gone back!

Anyway, that's my story. I wish there was a diet plan that really worked with the underlying disorder while you were losing weight. It seems like we focus all our energy on the diets themselves that we forget to address why we got here in the first place...

BTW: I just made it (almost) through day four. After many attempts to get back on plan, I think I got it this time!

Thanks everyone for being here and sharing your ups and downs!

Default Me too

Same sort of story. Sept 2010 started IP, 30 lbs in 10 weeks and with all the nice things being said to me I thought I was good. 7/8 lbs away from my goal and I quit. Over the year, I tried for a few times to start again but since I hovered gaining only between 4-7 lbs with exercise and eating healthy I thought I was good. Well did a vacation at the beginning of this month at an all exclusive and got back and in a matter of 3 weeks put on 10 lbs so I said Oh No when my clothes were getting tight. I actually gave away my larger clothes over the last year as I was the 45 lbs (did WW before IP) for 20 years so really don't want to go back there. Day 2 today and I actually am OK. It's been hard during the day as I think I have strep throat so started antibiotics so I rested today. But knowing I've started and already have seen the scale go down I feel like I can to this to the finish. So cool to see some of the same people are still here. And so glad to find this thread.

I also fell off the wagon about a year ago. I started IP April 2010, and lost about 60lbs. Last August I ended up having my gallbladder out unexpectedly, and had 3 days that I wasn't on plan while I was in the hospital. Right before I had surgery I was planning to start phasing off IP because I was getting a bit burned out on it. I attempted to restart the program until October so that I could phase out properly, but just couldn't get myself in gear to stay on plan. The pounds slowly started creeping back on. Then this past April I had surgery and packed on some more pounds while I sat around home for two weeks recovering. So, this past June I decided enough was enough and called my IP to get started back up again. I was able to get in the same day I called and jumped back in right away. I'm not going to lie, the first week was hard, much harder than the first time I started. It really sucked walking back into that office and getting on the scale again and seeing that I had gained back 25lbs. On the other hand I was really excited because I know IP works, and I once again had hope that I would make it to my weight goal. As of my weigh in 2 days ago I am 2lbs away from re-losing the 25lbs gained back. I'm thrilled to almost be done with losing this weight for the second time and achieving my next weight loss goals so I can phase out and maintain properly. This time around has been a struggle. I'm not losing near as fast as I did the first time, but I'm committed to doing this and doing it right. I wish all of you restarting the best, and really appreciate everyone sharing their story.

I'm restarting IP again as well. I started October 20, 2010 and ended beg of May, 2011 with a 50 pound weight loss. I was so sick of the diet and not exercising, I had to get off. Well, here I am 3.5 months later and I am sick of losing the same 7 pounds only to gain it back. I have maintained my loss (save 4 pounds), but only through running/jogging and working out at the gym 4-5 days a week and low carb dieting on South Beach. I have come reread the IP diet book and a light went off (again) about how losing weight is unnatural to the human body and how you need an unbalanced diet to pull energy/fuel from your fat storage. So, I am going back on it to get these last 40 pounds off so I can phase out properly. This is truly the only diet that works for me and I know many others feel the same way. I felt better on it as well-even though I felt psychologically deprived, when I chose to indulge in the foods I thought I was missing, I ended up feeling bloated and sick with joint aches (exactly like I felt before I went on IP last October). I learned my lesson. I'm back on until I reach my goal and determined to phase out like the book outlines.
I'm grateful for this forum and come here for support I'm also happy to see Carla on here-I remember you and your positive energy and great posts Happiness to all!

I am so right here with you! All week I have been wondering if they have a carbaholics anonymous group and would the overeaters anonymous accept me anyway.

I am an emotional eater, stress brings out the worst for me, and although I can learn what to do with diet, I think I need to spend a little time addressing the emotional part of what makes me eat too!

WOO HOO!! WELCOME BACK! So nice to see you again. It really does become so obvious that, no matter how much time goes by, you must always be working to stay on maintenance! I will be right there with you reaching goal this time!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is back and trying again. Well I'm not glad that any of us have gained back way but its nice to not feel like I'm the only one. I'm through about 1.5 weeks back on IP and starting to feel much better already. This really works and I'm going to stick to it until I reach a weight that I haven't been at since I was in the 14 years old. So i can be healthier at 31/32 than i was then.

Good morning! Beautiful day here in Iowa. Fall is in the air. I went for my weigh in and was down 2 pounds. I'll take it. I had been off and on plan for weeks. Had a good talk with my coach and she got me all pumped up along with all of you. I'm hoping for a better lost next week but for now I'm celebrating any pounds gone. I purchased the new Mango RTD and love it. Good luck everyone and keep in touch. We can do this!

AGREED!

I am amazed how much better I feel. It is such a rough road to get back on track once you start eating the way you did but, now that I am back at it, I find myself thinking "How could I possibly want to eat that way knowing how it makes me feel???"

I am so happy you are as motivated and Psyched as you are to get this done!

Fall??? UGHH!! No fall here, just 107 degrees plus and hot, dry winds. I will be so happy for October! Hopefully Halloween will be a cool night; it generally is!

2 pounds is still 2 in the right direction! Good for you!! Even if each week is just a steady 2 pounds you will be moving in the right direction.

I am hoping to get me some of the Mango smoothies when I go in next week. I can't wait to taste it!

Just a question for all those "back at this", do you find anything is harder than last time, easier than last time, or you are doing something differently?

Carla, I been watching your weather and it is hot there! My daughter still lives in the area so I read online newspapers to see what is happening in the area. We are getting down into the 50's at night and 80's in the daytime. Don't you hate those dust storms? Awful I bet.

On your question about being back on program, I have come at this program at a different approach this time. I'm not so worried about losing the weight fast like the first time around. I just want to see a steady downward trend. It has taken the pressure off of me by doing so. I also find I didn't get the headache like last time but I'm still fighting my habit of nibbling at night. Sometimes I just have to go to bed so I won't cheat. I swear food talks to me from the frig at night.

I am curious. I am not anywhere near maintenance but my question for the ones that reached their weight loss goal, did you go through maintenance or did you just stop cold turkey and go back to not watching what you ate?

The only thing I found more difficult was getting started. The first time I was all ready to go and went with it from the get go. I got the headaches and withdrawl and just dealt with it and kept going. That was my hardest part restarting. The IP brain was kicking my butt at work. I have a very thought intensive job and the hard time focusing associated with starting up the diet was a killer for me because I had so much going on. So I would have a hard time thinking or get a headache and head straight for some chocolate which would just lead me to other junk food. Its one of those snowball effect things for me once I start I just have "a little bit more" mentality. Not good. Fortunately things are in a bit of a lull and i was able to get thru that first week without any issue so now I can just keep going.
