I would also report the cardiologist to the governing body for physicians in your area. I am a patient advocate and know that it is clearly and unequivocally unacceptable to berate and abuse a patient. Many people I know that have weight struggles are struggling with other issues too, not the least of which is self-esteem. Who needs some ***hole yelling at you when clearly you are not gaining weight. Don't take that kind of nonsense. Too bad I'm not in your area, I'd go in and give them a piece of my mind for you!

 I agree with 2manysizes completely!! What you're describing isn't normal.

I know I am not drinking all the water I should so that may be it too?? HELP. I feel discouragement creeping in..........

I'm not knowledgeable about the veggies but if you're not adding extra fat? Here's what I do for drinking the water. I have the typical 16.9 oz. bottles - you can refill them from another source but it's a good way to measure. Four of those is over 64 oz. Drink the water at ROOM TEMPERATURE. You can chug down 8 oz. or more very quickly. I discovered that I can't do it when it's cold from the refrigerator. I line up 4 or 5 bottles for the day. I like to have gotten through 2 1/2 by noon. By 3 - 5p.m. I like to have at least 2 more done so that I am not up as much during the night. It can depend on the day. It is harder when I am out all day running errands - both remembering and finding public bathrooms.

Sammy - your coach is not getting enough therapy! Has she done IP herself? I have known a number of women that have gotten divorced and they lost weight because they were so unhappy they couldn't eat. I called it the divorce diet. My coach, who lost 50 lbs. herself on IP said that except for the first week she doesn't see a lot of the big weight losses, over an average of 3 - 4 lbs a week, on women. She does on men. Now, I don't know how many people she sees. This is a good diet. You are doing very well. I don't know if you can switch clinics but I would call around and ask. Your coach sounds worse than no coach at all. Both my husband and I see some world class doctors - absolutely tops in their fields - and while they may not be the jolliest of people they are always courteous. You deserve to be treated respectfully.

"My weight loss was slow my 5th and 6th week as well. It has picked back up. I don't think it has anything to do with the veggies being browned or sauteed. It is just a pattern in the weight loss. Many of us have seen it. Stick to plan and you will be fine."

Thank you Whosinthemirror!! I appreciate your experience and the pep talk! I like the food and am doing well overall..... just a "blip" then. Glad to see others have gone through the same thing!! :D

That is something I didn't think of....to drink at room temperature. You are right though, I am much slower when it's icy cold. I have seen others say their weight loss slows if they aren't drinking their water. I like the idea of premeasured bottles cuz it's so easy to lose track!!!
And I need to go back to measuring the oil I use. I didn't think browning vegetables was a problem except for onions, that I was told to avoid.

You are all so helpful and wonderful here! I appreciate you all so much!!!!

I'm sorry your coach isn't helpful. My coach yells at me, berates me, belittles me, tells me on weeks where I've lost 3 lbs. that I'm not working hard enough, blames my lack of energy on me, when I showed a 1 lb. loss of muscle mass instead of all fat loss - she yelled at me again and told me they were going to "terminate" me from the program. I'm in week 8. My losses have been 5, 4, 3, .5, .5. 2, 0. We have to turn in our journals every week and those are scrutinized by the local IP sales rep - who then has the Dr. call us at home and tell us what we're not doing right. They get confused, they forget some of my medical history and things that we've already discussed she brings up again as if we never talked about them. I'm constantly explaining myself, they make me feel like a child. I hate going there. I started to lose steam 3 weeks ago, I just felt crappy about going in to the office, I started to question the program, I ate more protein than I should - never ate foods off program, just more than I should. I started this diet (my coach is my cardiologist) because my blood pressure was 180/110. Three weeks in she checked my blood pressure again (right after picking a fight with me) and it was still 150/90. She yelled that this program probably wasn't going to help me, that I was obviously a Type A personality - told me I should get therapy - then closed the door and proceeded to tell me that she was now in therapy for the first time in her life because she was having marital problems !! - I'm not a type A, am no stranger to therapy. Anyway, I have had minimal weight loss the last 3 weeks (3 lbs. and some inches) but when they took my blood pressure yesterday it has come down to 120/80. I was euphoric, so happy. They were pleased for my BP victory, but told me that if I didn't lose 3 lbs a week from now on, they're going to "terminate" me. It's all I can do to remain positive and try to convince myself that this diet is for me - not for them. And not for them to make me feel like s***.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience... It's time to report them to IP and switch coaches!

I have so much respect for those who've been on it months! My coach hasn't been doing this for long and I don't think he has a lot of clients so he couldn't do sample boxes and won't let me return opened boxes of stuff I don't like or exchange packets. Is there anybody else in a similar situation that would like to trade packets? For example, I've tried the WB yogurt drink twice, it was actually the first thing I ate, but I hate it, with a passion. I still have 5 packets left, so I would love to trade, maybe sell them. I also have a hard time eating that chocolate and strawberry puddings, but I love vanilla.
Anybody have any ideas?

Sell the packets you don't like on ebay! I've done that and they sell really well!

I'm new here and just started IP about 2 weeks ago and have lost 10 lbs. already and am losing inches left and right. My mom has been doing this since September and has lost 50+ lbs so that motivated me to jump off the WW bandwagon and try something different. It's much better the second week and I'm trying to get creative with the food. I'm glad that there are so many great recipes here!
I'm off to NYC for the afternoon/evening to see a concert with the husband. I'm bringing along a two packets and hopefully will find a restaurant that I can work with for dinner tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Congrats keep up the great job you are doing and enjoy your day in NYC. :bravo:

I had a 'cheat day' and I feel horrible about it, but it was beyond my control that day. What I learned from it is to ALWAYS carry IP in case of emergency and am purchasing several bars and drink mixes to keep in my jeep at all times. Live and learn (learn to be prepared!).

:sunny: Through the coming weeks and months I hope to get to know you all. You're all so fabulously inspiring!!!:sunny:

Keep up the great job you are doing this program works just stick to it. You can do this. :broc:

Any thoughts?! :^:

I would stick to phase 2 and not go on to phase 3 till after the wedding.:)

According to the protocol when you phase off you are suppose to be on phase 2 for a minimum of 2 weeks and be on phase 3 for 14 days. I don't know if it is a good idea to phase off any other way. I don't know how hard it is to get back on track. Guess I'm not much help.

Hello guys & gals!

This has been a pretty good week for me, IP-wise, and I have done a major clean up in my closet!!! Everything that is now too big is out of there! Never to be seen again! I've never had the courage to do such a "clean up" before, cause I always kept clothes "in case I'd need it again" :dizzy:

But... NO MORE! Every pound shed is never going to return again! I have decided and that is it!

Problem now is... that I'm losing weight pretty quickly... I can't imagine buying new clothes every few weeks, to wear for just a small amount of time. That's silly! So if anyone out there who is also changing rapidly, please share what you are doing! I'd really appreciate it, & I'm sure everyone will find these tips/suggestions helpful.

Down 20 lbs! yay me! & YAY EVERYONE ELSE on here!!

:dust:

I'm also interested in what others are doing about the clothes. I'm working now and even though we don't have to dress up, you still need to dress casual business. Luckily, we have jean Fridays but even those are too big...:D In fact, yesterday at work, one of the gals told me I looked like a bag lady...LOL (yes, she was joking). I noticed, too, that the coat I just bought this winter is too big.....not sure what to do about that.

I'm heading for my 4th WI next Tues. and was down 16 lbs. and 12 in. at my last one.....I can't believe the amount of inches that have come off my waist! This is definitely THE diet...because I've tried everything else and nothing has worked up to now.

I'm also curious about the cleanse because I know I have a fatty liver and that it's compromised so I really need some good support for it. Thought that would really help it. But would like to be sure before I decide.

Thanks for all the inspiration!

Mary

Just checking in on you all!! Seems like you guys have some real victories this week. I had a stall in weight my 5 and 6 weeks but a decent number on week 7. Hoping that the scale shows a nice change on Wednesday. I can't complain as I have NEVER lost this much weight EVER. Have a great weekend everyone!!

5&6 Week Stall

I am just finishing my 6th week, and I am definitely feeling a stall, so it's good to know that I'm not the only one. I can't complain overall, because 23 in 5 weeks is incredible. I guess I just am greedy!! LOL!!

I have to give kudos to all who have shared recipes, too. Those are saving my life!! I am enjoying the variety they are providing.

I have noticed a number of posters do not like the WF products. The only one that I have tried that I haven't liked is the plain Ranch dressing. While they don't taste like "normal" products, they are certainly better to me than NOT having them! :D The flavored syrups are a little 'off' by themselves, but they add an awful lot to the IP products. I would encourage newbies to give them a try. I know I am very glad they are an option!!

Here's to a great rest of the weekend! Don't forget to set your clocks back!

Well had an official wiegh in and finally moved the scale a significant amout 4.2 lbs lost. yippee the last 3 weeks I was lucky if it moved even two pounds, mostly just one. So getting a little upset with myself. Anyway went out for supper tonight and quite proud of myself I ordered as what I could eat even though the waitress thought it was an odd request. I ordered a grilled chicken no cheese or mayo, or bun but saute' d mushrooms and placed between 2 pieces of lettice. I finished it all and was quite comfortable my friend did not finish he meal and felt overstuffed about only difference in the meals was the bun. Anyway feeeling way better about the diet and maybe will be on phase 2 next week. god luck everyone and have a good op weekened.

have not tried the tomato soup yet, but the vanilla pudding is quite good,I add cinnommon to mine to give it a little more flavor.

I have been doing the IP program for the past few weeks, but have really battled with staying on the plan without cheating. I have read numerous threads and done the research, and I know that the key is to NOT cheat. I know that it works, and I'm trying to battle the reasons why I set myself up for failure via therapy (this is not the first time I've done a program and then ended up in failure). I recognize that my failures have everything to do with me and my approach, not the plan itself. I'm wondering if I can switch from my coach (who has not done the program herself, and who I don't really 'gel' with) to the Ideal Protein To Go program from the website. Does anyone know if it's possible to switch from a coach format to purchase of the product online? Does the IP company allow this? Do they keep records of each participant and what coach they are with? I just feel that, at this time, I would rather be accoutable to myself, than to a coach - also, I will be returning to nursing school in two weeks, and my schedule will be insane, and I'm worried about fiting weekly meetings in. I appreciate all opinions and advice.
