Well, in fairness, no one said this was going to be easy and for someone like me who wasn't a huge veggie fan ever either, I have found that slowly but surely, I'm finding ways to enjoy them and even look forward to them. I too have found that eating is not so much all that "enjoyable" anymore BUT at the same time, part of this whole thing is looking at food more for fuel, rather than anything else. I am choosing lately to find MORE joy in other things so I don't feel so "deprived" in the food dept. Hang in there and for sure check out more recipes for "spicing up" your veggies. And remember, this program has a start and an end...sacrificing now will make later, so much better :)

It DOES get better....this is coming from the gal who on day 4 and 5, was ready to completely throw in the towel....I'm now 3 and a half weeks in and feel FABULOUS! Some days are better than others but follow protocol and you will find health, success and happiness!

:)Thanks stacy, feel a little better now that I had my dinner and copious amounts of water. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Any recommendations? I'm not changing anything this week (WI is on Thursday) but maybe I should try one restricted a day starting Friday (next week). What do you think?

hi lucky! i think 3 weeks of non-restricteds is a pretty good control group. see what your loss is on thurs (my WI day too!) to get an average of the 3 weeks without restricteds. then try adding a restricted every other day for a week and see how that affects your next week's loss. if it is good, try having one every day the following week and see what that does. experimenting is really the only way to find out what works best for you. now, keep in mind that every week's loss will be different, but i find that i tend to lose more on the weeks that have more restricteds. also, it is good to shake things up every now and then so your body doesn't get too used to anything (i've done really well at avoiding plateaus so far, even on my TOM weeks).

happy experimenting!!! oh, and let me know what you find works best for you!

I'm in. My coach hasnt offered the restricted yet, and I haven't been eating any restricted veg anyway. I probably just have to up my water and I'm doing it anyway.

Ok then, I'll try to start the thread. I'm sure I can do it. Please post your meals daily. I like to see what others are eating in case I need inspiration!

Jency and Gentlehyena, thanks for the encouragement. Tonite I ate dinner without 2 cups of vegetables or salad. I had chicken with sauteed shallots and a IP vanilla shake (which is actually my snack for later on). There was a point a few days ago when I wasn't minding the veggies too much. I don't know what happened but now I can hardly get them down. I did have them for lunch with IP Tomato soup (roasted fennel and cauliflower) but that was all I could do. Also, I added a tablespoon of tomato paste to my IP tomato soup as another board member had recommended. It greatly improved the taste and I think it only added 1.5 carbs. I've also added the veggies to the IP chicken soup but there is something about the flavour of them that I really hate. I guess that's why I never ate much of them to begin with. I'm going to give IP until the end of the month and then I will probably try a carb-reduced diet without so many restrictions. The large losses are wonderful but so is being able to enjoy a meal.

i just posted a crustless mini-quiche recipe in the recipe 2 thread. it contains all the veggies that you need for one meal, as well as the protein (eggs). it's a really great way to hide your vegetables, and it's really easy to eat (i love vegetables, but i have a hard time eating because i'm never hungry. this worked really well for me!).

You could make your own meatballs or hamburgers with some kind of cooked vegetable mixed in, maybe cooked spinach or zucchini?

I made meatballs with grated zucchini and an egg white, plus loads of parsley and Herbes de Provence. I baked them. I ate them with WF thick BBQ sauce. It was really good. Egg whites are free and helped bind the meatballs.

:)What an awesome idea! I love meatballs and they were one of my specialties. I haven't been able to get my arms around a solution. I love your idea. Thank you so much for sharing.

Bootcamp rules:

NO restricted items

Water intake (1/2 your body weight)
NO substitutes or (IP or alternative products only)
NO CHEATS (No rationalizing cheats by comparing nutrients)

The search function isn't that great!

Hey everyone, just got home from a girls mini getaway and trying to catch up here. I am wondering if I can toot my own horn here for a little as I had a HUGE NSV this weekend and want to share. There were 6 of us girls staying at a hotel/spa this weekend to celebrate some birthdays and I'm happy to report that I stayed 100% OP as I have since I started....I had not a drop of the wine being drank, none of the huge, surprise desert the restaurant brought to us to celebrate, NONE OF IT. My friends were all saying how proud they were of me and it felt so good :) To be honest, it wasn't even that hard, I'm so focused on what I need to do and as suspected, I really needed this kind of plan which is very structured and doesn't have much, if any, room for error. I ordered a chicken and spinach salad off the menu with no dressing, asked for oil and vinegar and drank nothing but water and STILL enjoyed myself. After dinner, everyone was complaining how full and bloated they felt yet I felt GREAT! And that was an awesome feeling :) I almost feel like I enjoyed myself that much more, simply because instead of focusing on food which I normally do, I really focused on the time I was spending with my girls :) Thanks for letting me share! Congrats to everyone on their successes this weekend and to the person with the ABUSIVE coach, she NEEDS to be reported NOW.

Congrats I am very proud of you that is great keep up the great job you are doing. :bravo:

My youngest son came home form college Friday night and I was living for that. He brought a couple buddies with him. I wanted to be able to give him a hug and cook some nice meals. But I don't want to contaminate them. I'm going to doctor tomorrow. The boys ordered my favorite pizza. I want some. I can't breath well enough to chew any substantial protein. Had 2 eggs. Even though I feel so sick, I'm still hungry. Have a headache, tired. Is it allowed to have chicken broth on IP? I tried all different ways to search the site but only saw broth mentioned for recipes. I'm still in phase one.

I hope you start feeling better hang in there.

I have absolutely no joy in eating anymore. I have tried steaming, sauteeing, grilling and every spice known to man and I still cannot eat them all. I'm getting to the point where I would rather not eat at all than have to eat the veggies and salad. Maybe IP is not for me :?:

maybe try a soup. it helps to get the veggies down and very filling. I made chicken soup. Broth first, lots of celery, a small bit of onion, and salt and pepper. when the broth was good I added bock choy, dif color peppers, and shredded cabbage. Its for cole slaw and 2 dollars a bag. In soup it feel like your eating noodles. I like it. and with peppers it takes more like a mexican or tortilla soup. you can make a huge pot and freeze too.

baby spinach in your salad is another easy veggie option.

I too felt like I had the flu, achey, tired, headache, weary. My coach said to have some salt - so I dipped celery sticks in sea salt, had a big glass of decaf Iced Tea with stevia in it and felt instantly better. For the first few weeks, I would get that flu feeling after every time I worked out. That too has passed and I am back to my evening speed walks with no drop in energy. It all gets better. Seriously, it does. And even if you don't lose a ton of weight each week - weirdly, you will keep getting smaller. Other people have said it on this forum - that even without weight loss, the inches just keep dropping. I weigh 186 and am fitting in to clothes that I wore when I was 168 lbs. It's just bizarre. Have some salt, make yourself a delicious shake - and know that your body is adjusting into health. :)

about one week ago I woke up to go to work and had such a headache due to a stuffed up head and a sore throat. Funny I had ran out of my salt on Saturday and met with my coach on Monday night , so for two days had none of the proper salt. Felt ill Tuesday morning so took my 1 Liter water bottle that I always have and put salt into it, after about 2 hours of drinking it my sore throat was gone and so my headache, I think the salt did the trick . So make sure to take your salt.
