Made it to the 150's!!

Good morning everyone,
I had my 9th week WI last night and I am down 3.3 lbs and 4 more inches. I finally made it into the 150's!! YAY! :carrot::carrot:
I am going out for lunch for the first time since I started IP. I have my WF dressing in my purse and I am ready to go. I am also having a pedicure right after that :D.
I am not going to be showing off my pretty toes any time soon, it is -31 with the windchill, I can't believe this weather. +6 yesterday and -33 last night...CRAZY! Wonder what mother nature is up to?? I am craving some warm weather!
Congrats to all the IP successes....it's so nice to read about all that we have accomplished so far!
Have a great day!

Couts71 thanks always for the weekly encouragement. It means a lot.

I have to do the not so fun shopping of finding a couple of bathing suits today. I do not care what size you are it is probably one of the not so nice things to do on any women's list. I am heading out to West Palm Beach for a long weekend next week and tried on my bathing suits and they are big (yes I should be happy) but it is just a dreaded chore to do. Hopefully the "lighting" in the dressing rooms will work for me today (Please laugh).

Hope everyone has a great Protocol day and looking forward to reading everyone's weight losses and NSV's tonight.

Can someone post the newest phase 1 protocol sheet? It looks like there were some updates re: peppers and meat that Showgirlaz mentioned in the IP info thread. Many thanks. I can ask next Friday when I go back to my coach, but thought that someone else might be have it/be able to get it sooner.

Beachbella yes, you made me laugh. I hope you have fun shopping for bathing suits. I am looking forward to buying one this summer in a color other than black. Not that you have time to buy something online, but I was just looking at 6pm dot com and they have some great deals on Miraclesuit. They are run by Zappos, and I've gotten some fantastic deals on shoes and sunglasses there.

I got my individual salad dressing packets, travel salt, and IP products ready to go. I'm hoping I can stay strong and still manage to loose while I'm gone. I've got some great tips from other IPers on traveling while on IP to Disney World!! Thank you guys!! Gotta get ready to head in for weigh in number 9. Have a fantabulous day!

I know how you feel, It does give you an uneasy feeling knowing you are going to be in an unfamiliar environment. Remember you are in control of what you eat! I know you are prepared, just don't go too long without eating. Make good decisions about your food and focus on having a great time on your trip. Just do what you know to do, don't worry about loosing and everything will work out. Remember this is only one week or so out of a life time. I freely gave my two cents, didn't I? Our grandchrildren live near Orlando and have spring break from school next week, wish I could make a trip now. Have a great time!!!

Takes the guesswork out of what to eat. Especially since we arent eating for enjoyment anymore. It's just fuel right. Tomorrow is a combination birthday party for my two youngest daughters and my oldest daughter's bf. The sad thing is that I am not worried about saying no to the birthday cake and party food, but I just cringe at what my evil MIL is going to say about my weight loss and diet plan in front of everybody. I love my DH dearly but if I had known his mother first.....never would have married him. Here's to a great weekend everybody.

I seemed to eat the same things over and over, seem to make life easy. I know you will do great as far as the food situation. The MIL situation is another story. I had a great relationship with my MIL, she passed away 6 years after we married (cancer), I still miss her very much. As our 2 sons grew I wanted to be a great MIL to the women they chose. The relationship has been easier with one than with the other. I'm still doing what I can in the difficult relationship and things are better after 15 years. Your MIL's actions and words will only make her look bad, not you. Guard your heart! I know it is a very difficult situation, I will be thinking about you. Judy

Good morning IPers! Yesterday was the first day I've been out of town (and hugely out of my element) in the 9 weeks I've been on this diet. We were working on the home study for our 2nd adoption! Very exciting stuff. Well, I'm so excited to say that I was 100% on plan. We had to sneak away to Subway for a salad for lunch and, for dinner, the waiter was nice enough to have the kitchen custom make me a salad because they had nothing on their menu that would have worked. I'm so proud of myself. There is something about this diet that just STICKS with me. Only diet to ever do that.
Have a fabulous weekend, all!!

I have two questions:
Phase 1 requires "2 cups of Select Vegetables" for lunch and dinner. Do you know if that is 'before cooking' measurements?
If I cook 1 cup of raw zuchini, it ends up being less than one cup after cooking.

Second question is about the meat for supper.
Do we weigh the meat before or after cooking. Some chicken breasts have so much liquid added to them before they are frozen and can weigh significantly less after cooking.
I just want to be sure to be getting enough protein from the meat.

Okay, now that I am thinking about this, I have a final question:My food list for Phase 1 states that I can have Tuna, but then says "Red Tuna-1 x per week. What is RED TUNA?
The ingredients on my Starkist Tuna Pouch says : "Light Tuna, Water, Vegetable Broth, Salt." I am assuming that it is NOT Red Tuna.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I can't help with the tuna question. I measured my vegetables raw in a measuring cup. I weighed my meat raw on a food scale. Eating the correct amount is very important.

This is what I've planned with my coach so that I don't get overwhelmed and defeated with the big goal--20 lb chunks seem more attainable.
But I'm worried how long will this prolong my whole process? I tend to be a run/walk kind of person rather than a long slow jog. How hard is it mentally to "keep in the game" for (maybe) a year?

When I started Ip I planned to stay on plan till I lost 55 or so pounds. I thought it would take about 4 or 5 months. By the third to fifth month I knew it was going to take longer than I had originally thought. I decided to stick it out till I got to my goal. I'm not going to say it was easy some days, especially as my weight slowed down more and more the last few months. It took almost 9 months. Since we are all so different, the answer will vary for each of us. Do what is best for you. Judy

Here is to another 100% day!

Hi Juiceman -- sorry to hear about your little guy!!!!!! -- must be spring or something because my baby girl had a ride in a sirened chariot this week (aka ambulance) because she couldn't breathe -- found out she had a severe case of croup....UGGGGG these respiratory things (RSV, Croup, asthma) are soooo scary. I am sending good vibes and better breathing to you all. Sucks when they are so little to be so sick. I cannot believe how much I just wanted to eat crap while I was at the hospital....I didn't but I wanted something to take my mind off of watching my daughter struggle to breathe...so I guess it was a NSV but it sure doesn't feel like one. Sending hugs from my baby girl to your little guy

Judy, I must tell you how on the money your advice is!!! I am so glad you help out us newbies with sound information or your opinion ! You are an example of how to make it through this journey! Thank you and know I am thinking of you today!!

Good morning everyone!
I'm new here and just started IP about 2 weeks ago and have lost 10 lbs. already and am losing inches left and right. My mom has been doing this since September and has lost 50+ lbs so that motivated me to jump off the WW bandwagon and try something different. It's much better the second week and I'm trying to get creative with the food. I'm glad that there are so many great recipes here!
I'm off to NYC for the afternoon/evening to see a concert with the husband. I'm bringing along a two packets and hopefully will find a restaurant that I can work with for dinner tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

RetroChick 03-12-2011 11:02 AM

Started IP Monday. Today my scale shows a 6 pound loss. I'm so excited and feel I finally have a grip on some seriously atrocious eating habits. Can hardly wait for official weigh-in day after tomorrow!

I had a 'cheat day' and I feel horrible about it, but it was beyond my control that day. What I learned from it is to ALWAYS carry IP in case of emergency and am purchasing several bars and drink mixes to keep in my jeep at all times. Live and learn (learn to be prepared!).

:sunny: Through the coming weeks and months I hope to get to know you all. You're all so fabulously inspiring!!!:sunny:

Tried the Tomato soup last nite for the first time and it was gross. I had hoped to use it to make some kind of a sauce but I don't think it would do the job. I put garlic, spices and fresh basil in it and it still didn't help with the taste. Any ideas how to improve it? Checked the recipe boards and there wasn't much there. I loved the vanilla pudding though. Such a nice change from rasberry jello.

TatiN 03-12-2011 11:43 AM

I love this plan because of the weight I've lost, but honestly I'm not loving all the flavors. I know I need to suck it up and deal, but eating it 3 times a day is a lot. I have so much respect for those who've been on it months! My coach hasn't been doing this for long and I don't think he has a lot of clients so he couldn't do sample boxes and won't let me return opened boxes of stuff I don't like or exchange packets. Is there anybody else in a similar situation that would like to trade packets? For example, I've tried the WB yogurt drink twice, it was actually the first thing I ate, but I hate it, with a passion. I still have 5 packets left, so I would love to trade, maybe sell them. I also have a hard time eating that chocolate and strawberry puddings, but I love vanilla.
Anybody have any ideas?

Feels great to no longer be controlled by food!!

Popping in to acknowledge this MAJOR NSV! Adrean, that is awesome! What a realization to have -- you WERE addicted to carbs. And now you're not. It can be a rough ride between the two and you've made it to the other side.

I work night shifts a lot. If anyone has any advice on shift workers, let me know please? I work 12 hour shifts and half of them are nights. Tough going into a day from a night because you either lose or gain a day. Sleep is very disrupted too.
Well, goodnight all. Reading all these posts has really inspired me. After taking my pictures yesterday I just wanted to cry! You guys are all so determined!

I don't care for tuna either so I never buy it anymore, but Dr. Tran's website lists so many other fish choices... of course, the canned/pouched tuna does away with the need to cook, so it's mighty convenient... here's the good doctor's list of allowed fish & seafood:
catfish, pike, cod, plaice, hake, conger, bream, haddock, smelt, halibut, gudgeon, ling, pollock, dab, burbot, sea bass, whiting, red hake, Atlantic cod, perch, skate, rockfish, shark, gumard, dogfish, John Dory, walleye, sole, cunner, tuna (except red tuna), trout, turbot
oysters, hard-shell clams, soft-shell clams, surf clams, crab, lobster tail, Mediterranean prawns, scampi, lobster, mussels, cockle, squid, cuttlefish, periwinkle, whelk, scallops, shrimp
So, you see, you don't have to settle for tuna...

Congrats on getting started with IP so successfully...

hugs
