I'd love to know this too! I have gone from 8 cups/day before ip to 2 now, and would love to have one in the afternoon.

Thanks!!!
I had the same issue in phase 2 and even more in phase 3. I found extra salt helped me in phase 2. Phase 3, I just had to wait it out. If I got close to passing out I would pump my legs to get some of my blood recirculating back up to my brain. (having low blood pressure all my life, this is a trick a doctor taught me ages ago)
I really took these light headed episodes to mean that my body was becoming very good at regulating glucose and insulin. This subject was discussed in the Life After Phase 1 thread. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

So far I still do not like the pineapple banana drink and the vanilla pudding as a drink. Love the Lindora vanilla creamy shake but of course I do, it has 11 carbs! (discovered after I had it for breakfast yesterday- sad face.) Slowly going through all of the 4 carbs or less IP stuff. I swear I couldn't have lasted all these weeks without the vanilla boxed drinks. Now I just have to get to Saturday, hopefully. (if UPS delivers when they say they will). But
2 weeks later I will be out again. Who do I call to tell them they've got to manufacture IP drinks asap??? Just wonder how many others feel as I do...

WELCOME to all the new folks! You have just done yourself the best favor in the world by committing to IP...it will truly change your life!!

this coffee discussion is interesting as I was never coached to keep away from coffee or tea. I drink 2 cups of black tea every morning and drink iced tea off and on all day long (which increases my fluid intake significantly). I sometimes have a cup of decaf tea before bed (nothing in it) and sometimes have decaf coffee VIA powder in my shake for lunch. I know tea has a lot less caffeine than coffee, but I figure ANYTHING I can do to increase my fluid intake is a good thing. (I also drink water).

I know some people were coached that after 2 cups of coffee or tea, then each one after that "requires" additional water. But my coach never said anything about it and the only reference I can find in the protocol is the limitation on putting milk in it. According to my coach, if its 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat, it's allowed (that is why all the WF stuff is ok). Do you think I've been sabotaging myself?

hmm, if orange juice helped it could be a sodium/electrolyte shortage from drinking so much water (which flushes out your electrolytes). If you are worried about eating a restricted every day, I wonder about an additional cal-mag and/or some salt on celery before bed so you don't "dip" so much overnight? Or cut down your water consumption by dinner time so your evening supplements don't wash right through you?

Thanks. This is a great piece of advice (although I can just see me pumping my legs in the dentist chair after reclining for 15 minutes).

NSV:
so I've been wearing the same pair of capris for my WI since week 1, to keep things consistent. When I started IP they were a clear muffin top with the button straining. I can now slide them all the way off without unbuttoning them. I think that means that my hips are now smaller than my waist was when I started??? (I'll check the numbers at my weigh in next week!)

Here are 3 recipes I have used. Two are rubs the other is an adapted sauce. the sauce may have been a better originally but, this was worked.

Emeril's Dry "Rustic Rub" Recipe:
8 T paprika
3 T cayenne
5 T fresh ground pepper
6 T garlic powder
3 T onion powder
6 T salt (can be adjusted to taste)
2 1/2 T dried oregano
2 1/2 T dried thyme

Chinese Dry Rub
• 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
• 3 tbsp brown splenda (or splenda)
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 teaspoon turmeric, Ground
• 1/4 teaspoon celery seeds
• 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder

This is a variation of a really good sauce from Everyday Low Carb Cooking (this book is very good BTW)

4 tablespoons soy sauce
5 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/2 cup of diced onion
1 tablespoons of oil
3 tablespoons of splenda
1/2 cup walden farms barbecue sauce (original recipe called for 1 cup tomato sauce) You might be able to sub a sugarfree ketchup here
1 tablespoon of chopped pickled jalapeno peppers (diced)

lightly saute onion in oil or butter until cooked, add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Bake the ribs in a 325 oven, cover the ribs in the sauce and keep turning in the sauce until they are done

I too went from many cups of coffee and ice coffee with cream to 1/2 cup decaf coffee in the morning and a full cup decaf in the late afternoon.. I really appreciate the delicious smell and taste more now..

So... I just finished with all my pre-op stuff for surgery next thursday. Doc does not want me on IP prior to surgery as he is concnerned about being in ketosis, really low calories and under anesthetic since I have a hard time with it anyway. He is also worried because it is such a long procedure. He is guesing bout 4 hours. (lets hope he is wrong) He has asked me to eat healthy this week and next and go back on IP after surgery. I will be happy when next week is over.

I think it is only a cheat if it is actually hampering your weightloss. Caffeine will increase catecholamines (ie: adrenaline) in our blood. This will cause our liver to release stored glucose leading to an insulin spike. Caffeine can also lead to insulin resistance and adrenal gland burn out. It is important to note that these reactions are very individual. Some people will have a minor blip when drinking a cup of coffee whereas others will really trigger a big insulin spike.

If you are still losing weight while having your afternoon treat and your coach has no reservations, I say go for it.

I have a friend in Billings that is interested in IP. Would you recommend the place where you go? If so, can you please tell me who you go to and I will let her know. Thanks!
