One caffeinated tea or coffee is ok. The rest must be decaf.

Default NEWBIE 12 days today

Hi everyone! This is a great site that was given to me by my coach and I am really enjoying all the posts. I have been on Ideal Protein for 12 days now and I am already seeing a transformation in my body shape. I was on Body for Vi for a month as a starter and I have done 2 1/2 months of low carb before that. I Love hearing the success stories, and can't wait to join the maintenance phase of this diet.
My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to DOCTOR UP the Walden Farms products? I LOVE peanut butter and it has been my savior on my first phase journey, and now it is forbidden, so I bought the Walden Farms Peanut Spread and to me, it is disgusting! Any one know a way to "aide" the taste? I hear the mayo isn't that great either, any suggestions for that? I truly appreciate any help I can get.
thanks everyone...happy Easter

I don't know what to suggest for the Walden Farms, but if you pike peanut butter, try the IP Peanut Butter Soy Puffs. So yummy.

Default Brand new with a question

I had no idea I could do some of the things mentioned on here. I've yo-yo'd around so much with my weight that I am paranoid about cheating and wrecking this diet. I've only JUST started (I am on day 3) and am ok with the food mostly (so far). I don't actually tend to overeat very much so the quantities are more than what I am used to. I just eat crap, that's all

I am finding it very difficult to eat the salads. I'm not a fan of lettuce at all and am not even hungry for them. What is their purpose? They provide a few vitamins I am sure, but are they necessary to success? I've been throwing my chicken or eggs on a bed of lettuce and chopping up some celery and cucumber and veggies but I end up leaving half the lettuce on my plate

I am new to this diet as well, and according to my coach, the lettuce has a lot of fiber, and helps digestion better. I am not a big fan of plain salads either, nor am I a fan of some of the salad dressings in the recipe section. Some people don't like the Walden Farms salad dressings, but I find that the ones that I have tried aren't bad. I really don't mind the sweet onion one, the creamy bacon is just OK, and the chipolte ranch is really spicy. Hope this helps. I have only been on the Ideal Protein for 2 weeks, and I have been reading the threads on this website a lot.

You don't have to have lettuce for every meal, it is a filler to help you feel full, as long as you eat your 2 cups of veggies for each meal the lettuce is optional.

I was hoping that I can get some tips and tricks from those who are more experienced with this diet. It seems like I am never satisfied. How long did it take all of you to over come these cravings? I am really feeling like at this rate, the diet is going to do nothing for me because I am going to be miserable!

Help me PLEASE!!
My coach told me about a product called Miracle Noodle. I got my order just today and am really looking forward to the results. It is plant based but the claim is that it tastes and has the mouth feel of regular pasta. I got angel hair, fettucini and rice in my order today. My maiden name was Gelsomino - I have pasta and sauce in my blood. Go

I got past my initial cravings (in general) by eating a lettuce salad when I was hungry. Other good products are by Walden Farms most of their products are 0 calories 0 carb 0 sugar - read their labels carefully not all the products are equal. They have a tomato based pasta sauce. You can search on line for these products

Don't give up - I hope this helps. Take care

I have been on this site spying on you all for weeks waiting to get the courage to start IP and stay On Program. You make this such a challenge and I thought that I would have to have my girlfriend do IP with me just to keep me motivated and competitive with my weight goal.....but I have everything here on this site. Thank You ladies and I wish you all the success I want to have on this program. I think the stickie that got me the most motivated was the one with what size were you and what size are you now. The FAT really does seem like it melts off and the clothing sizes prove that.

The last 3 1/2 years have been a mess for me. Back in 2007,my primary Dr. diagnosed me w/borderline hypothyroidism. My bloodwork comes out normal, but I have characteristics/issues (weight gain, leg cramps, cold feet & hands, hair falling out, low basal temp in the morning, brain fog, etc.) that would diagnose me w/hypothroidism. Over the course of 3 years I was taken cytomel and synthroid. In addition, my Dr. placed me on phentremin to kick start my metabolism. The phentremin was only a temp. thing. After about a year w/ still having difficulty in maintaining my weight, I went to see a specialist who took a holistic approach. Through trial and error, my diagnosis came back with either metabolic syndrome or hypothroidism(they both have similar characteristics). Again my blood work would come back normal but I was still showing charactertistics of Hypothyroidism. This Dr. decided to increase the cyotmel and synthroid and then added the phentremin to the mix. I honestly think it was the combination of drugs that I was placed on. Between the everyday stresses from work, my rollercoaster ride on RX, I started to have anxiety/panic attacks. One night I had a horrible eposide of Heart palipations. This lead me to see a Cardiologist. When I went to the cardiologist and he looked at my history of blood work, he felt that I did not have hypothyroidism and weened me off the pills. He performed an echo and put me through a stress test. All upon which came back normal. He felt that a lot of issues w/weight and stuff had to deal with stress. He recommended to me the South Beach Diet and finding a new job. Since Feb. I have been off of all the meds and have been only taking vitamin and fish oil pills. However, I can not seem to get passed that eposide I had w/ the heart palipations.

One of my family members is a Chiropractor and I went to him for an unrelated issue. We started talking about everything that I have been through and the challenges of losing weight. He recommended that I try this. With the exception of last night, I have been feeling pretty good on the program. I am actually starting to feel better. I noticed an increase in energy and I don't have that brain fog I normally experience.

To showgirlaz - Maybe last night was just a panic attack brought upon the fact that I had insomnia on Friday night.

I'm brand new to this forum and I had the same symptoms as you. I even went to the Emergency Room and was there for 6 hours. They sent me home, told me to rest and contact my doctor. My doctor thought it was my blood pressure so he told me to take an additional blood pressure pill. He also gave me a RX for Ativan (sp) for anxiety. He just passed it off that way. I did take 1/2 of the Ativan but did not double up on my blood pressure meds, My BP was within the normal range for the most part, it was my pulse that was racing (like I was on "speed" or something). Since I am also taking meds for hypothyroid, I became suspicious that it was all in my thyroid. While I had an endocrinologist, I have lost confidence in her. I called the only "thyroidologist" in my state (who happens to practice in my city), and was able to get an appointment on that very day due to a cancellation. (Lucky me!). This new doctor validated my suspicions, told me that she never wanted me to take one of the meds again, and to discontinue all thyroid meds for a week. She also put me on the alternate plan of this diet because she said that the amount of medication that people take for hypothyroidism is based on their weight. I NEVER was told that before and I wonder if the past 2 endocrinologists that I went to even knew that. Lower your weight; lower the dosage. Made sense to me. She put me on the alternate plan. I am having great success and more importantly, I'm feeling so much better! Today is day 5 and I've lost 5.5 pounds so far. I will start taking one of my thyroid medication tomorrow.

Is there a difference between lemon and lime juice? I really prefer the tartness of lime over lemon. Thanks.

I'm on week 3 and I still feel very hungry between meals. I get shaky and nauseous like my blood sugar is dropping. Anyone else feel like they need something between meals? What is the best thing to have so as not to affect weight loss? Thanks!

I'm also in my third week and seem to be mostly past this, but I'd say if you are hungry, you should have another packet. Also be sure you're taking all your supplements.

Default Depressed about not Getting on Program

I am a newbie and have been on the site reading lots but when I went to my rep to start yesterday she said I couldn't due to an arrhythmia I have had for the past 2 years and am on medication for. But the whole reason I need IP is that the medication slows my heart rate to keep up with the missed beats and has messed with my metabolism. hense the weight gain. She says I just need to get a note signed by my dr if I can do this diet. I have pumped myself up for weeks reading up and have never read anything about heart troubles.

Sorry just so phyched to start and let down cuz I wont be able to get into my dr for weeks, and he will charge for the paperwork if it's faxed to him.

My dad is on medication for his heart rate also. And guess who has to monitor everything...LOL I'm reasonably sure you aren't 83 years old, but the facts are, with him....Foods mess with the meds. Salt intake messes with blood pressure which in turn affects the heart. Being at a normal weight makes it easier for your heart to do it's job. I would guess that your Doctor will encourage you to lose weight, but will want to monitor your condition during the process. Call the office and say you're light headed or something. They will get you in sooner! LOL
