thanks for the suggestions for how to make sure to drink enough water - I just need to make it a habit.

As for the coffee - I've been drinking too much and I knew I wasn't supposed to - I contacted the IP folks but they didn't have an answer. They just said, you can have 1 cup in the morning and if you want to drink more than that, you need to drink an equal amount of water (plus your 8 glasses). I wanted to know why - why can't you drink coffee?? So I googled it - turns out coffee does something with glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity - here's a quote I found “a new study that shows how caffeine destabilizes blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetics. According to the study, when people with diabetes consume caffeine with meals, it causes their blood glucose to swing wildly and their insulin to go out of control. This study is being published in the journal Diabetes Care." I guess, for the kind of diet we're on, stay away from coffee is the bottom line. Maybe my weight loss will improve with those changes.

I am only on day one and have questions already...
Can we cook with chicken bullion and can we use I can't believe it's not butter spray? Both fit the criteria for 0 carbs and 0 fat.

How sweet! My boyfriend and I have been talking about a pug for a while (he really wants a Golden, but we live in a one bedroom apartment and I don't think it would be fair to a big dog). We just bought his mom one for Christmas, and we love going to visit her! We're both teachers, though, so I think we'll be waiting until the summer so that we can be home with it while it's little. Maybe it'll be my gift to myself for reaching my goal weight

According to my coach, Ultimate bookcamp is from the founders of IP, not something she came up with. The goal is to pick the lowest carb IP foods & lowest approved carb count veggies. So last week I had the chicken soup, vanilla & butterscotch pudding, Lemon pudding only has 1 carb. THe veggies that I ate were Celery, Radishes, Spinach, Mushrooms, Red Cabbage. there were other veggies on the list that I had a hard time finding that are low carb, for example under 2 carbs per serving. The goal was to stay under 15 carbs per day. I also had to include another homemade protein surving of about 150 calories. I lost 4.2 last week, it worked & this week I am back on "regular" IP.

For those who use ketostix... where do you buy them? I've looked at a few places and can't find them. I've been losing consistently and following the plan so I'm not really worried, but it would be nice to check on those days when I'm not feeling like it's working (and maybe I won't be hopping on the scale so often!)

Also, I'm entering "that time of the month". I've seen some posts regarding how this has affected weight loss. For most of you, has it been a lower number during that week and a much higher number the next week? Or has it been a low number followed by your typical number? Has anyone gotten through this week without any effect on their weight loss? Can you tell I'm obsessing about this?

Does anyone have a favorite?
I have tried the Vanilla & Butterscotch pudding, the mixed berry yogurt, Pina Colada, Pineapple Banana Drink, Omelet is good. THe soups are ok. And the Premade drinks ROCK. I double the water, heat them slowly & add COFFEE!

Next week, I'm changing things up a bit and having my lunch as my dinner.

I may be rethinking my goal to 120lbs. Even though I was 105 when I got married, after 3 kids, 120 ain't bad for 5'2". I guess I'll reevaluate in a couple of weeks.

I made tuna salad with the WF Coleslaw mix. I put enough Spicy Brown Mustard to cover the taste and used big leaf lettuce as the wrap. My turnip chips came out great, and need to get more. Those are my comfort food!

Week 1 -6lbs.
Week 2 -2lbs.
Week 3 -4lbs.
Week 4 -1lb.
Total -13lbs. since December 16th
If you remember, I really beat myself up for my 1lb week last week. Had almost talked myself into quitting! Don't let it bother you. Review your food diary & buckle down. I am on sparkpeople with you, you can easily find me on the IP forum, my name on there is meghanalice. I fill out my food log on there if you need any ideas. I had been following yours.

About the BM issues. I am having the exact same thing. Gave myself a terrible case of hemmroids as a result, I have taking 3 FULL doses of Peri Colace over a week & got things moving but now I am ill, I think from the loss of water from taking it. My "NEW" coach recommended either 3-4 grams vitamin c or 2 T of Magnesium Citrate to help. Have not started either yet, but there are some ideas! My stomach had a new shape once things got ran out of my body! I think I weent 4 days in between BM's, painful!

A friend introduced me to Almond Butter this past weekend. Not that I have eaten it yet, but it sure sounds good & I can not wait to open it & have a try! I purchased mine at Costco, she said they are dupper expensive in the regular store.

Thanks for the advice on exercise too!
I was wondering the same thing. My 30th bday is coming up & I could possible have a couple eatting out experience to help CELEBRATE this new age & I would love to have more variety that week. I will read on but also ask my doc at the next appt!

My first 6 weeks on IP I was a daily BM person, thought that was strange & now I am doing good to get an every other day BM. See a few posts above about how to cure constipation, if you ever get to that point.

I have used bullion cubes in the past & my coach said it was find, just be sure to read the nutrition info. As far as the spray goes, I occasionally use it, but what I have read says that a 1 second spray has 0 calories and or carbs but a 5 second spray does have calories & carbs. Again read the nutrition info on the bottle.

Thanks for the answer - guess I'll forget about the butter spray. Wondered how it couldn't have any fat when the second ingredient was oil.

I love it and have it for lunch 2-3 times a week, cause I can't stand the soups. I also love the prepared choc and vanilla drinks. That's what I have for breakfast every morning.
Have you (or anyone) tried the omelet in the microwave?

I got a box today thinking I could bring some veggies, steam them and then add the omelet. I don't really like cooking everything in the microwave, but it is my only choice at work.

Did my weight this am... so for two weeks down 11lbs! WOW! I am thrilled!
This morning I took someone's suggestion and mixed the cappacino up, put it in my travel mug and added black decaf coffee. DELICIOUS!! I'm impressed!

Yesterday's lunch I tried a recipe suggested by my coach. Mixed the chicken soup in 6 oz of water. Steamed my veggies, broccoli and cauliflower, chopped them up fairly small, put them in a small casserole dish (fits in my toaster oven) poured the chicken soup over, sprinkled with onion powder, put a drizzle of oil on and kinda spread it around. Baked in the toaster oven at 300 for 10 minutes, it was really good! Kind of like an au gratin casserole without the cheeze...

Now to go have my butterscotch pudding for the first time!

Mary Ann
