This forum is great I really enjoy reading all the tips and recipes.
So I'm going to share a recipe
Thai Curry Cauliflower
2 tsp olive oil
1 minced garlic clove
sprinkling of garlic&herb Mrs Dash
Red Thai Curry paste (to taste - I like mine spicy)
splash of low sodium soy sauce
~2cups cauliflower broken into really small pieces
Saute everything over medium heat for about 6 minutes
Enjoy!
This sounds YUMMY!! I can't wait to try it! I have a recipe for asian style seared fish, it has a great sauce, I bet this would be tasty with it! Thanks for sharing!!

I am also in Arizona and would love some of your other recipes...Thanks for all the posts...I have enjoyed reading yours!
I will pull my recipes and put them on here later this evening. Up a little too late for now and have a full day of training ahead of me.

For anyone: Should I be posting recipes in a specific place or just anywhere will do?

Thanks! Have a great day all!

Good luck and let us know if you still can not find what you are looking for!
Thanks Callmecurvy...love the name, by the way! I'll check this out and hopefully get a response. I'm crossing my fingers!

Hey Everybody!

Feels good to wear pants today that are silly big! Whoo-Hoo! And yes, wearing them anyway. I am spending all my money on IP!

To all experienced IP women: Do you see the scale moving the week of your cycle? Up/Down? How much on average?

I figured out why I have been such a Witch for the last week

Like Joshb...I am loving them...but they still are awfully soggy. Anyone else out there have any more ideas for turnips? How about brussel sprouts? (I am getting REAL tired of broccoli and cauliflower!)

Byrdie09 - I make my own dressings....don't know if they are quite legal or not...ask your coach (I absolutely HATE WaldenFarms dressings). I posted them back in September (or Oct??) in the Recipe section (look under Sticky...Ideal Protein Recipes). I posted my Mom's recipe and my Motherinlaws recipes....I think I called them that, too (so original, aren't I?)

I, too, miss peanut butter SO much. I did buy DiVinci Peanut Butter syrup from netrition.com....it helps a bit. Never tried the WF peanut butter...figured it would taste as bad as their dressings. I did read on hungry-girl.com about a peanut butter called "Better'n Peanut Butter"...I did buy it, but haven't tried it because of the highcarb count (13g for 2 T.)...but it says it is 85% less fat, 40% less calories and low sodium.

Speaking of (again, rambling....)...for the newbies...here are some things I DO that ARE within the IP boundaries.....(not necessarily all food). I belong to fitday.com. It is free...I put my weight in and it makes a graph and tells me what bodyfat I am. Mind you, my doctor has one of those electronic thingy-bobs that you hold in both hands which sends an electrical impulse thru your body to measure your body fat (Dr.Oz showed it once on his show)...and the bodyfat that fitday.com comes up with is VERY close to the contraption my dr. uses.

I do subscribe to hungry-girl.com. Altho most of her recipes are not IP-good, she has good information. Again, it is free (I like free!). SOMEDAY I know I will be using her info (I have both of her cookbooks). She is funny...and informative.

I also like to look thru different forums on this 3fatchicks.com website. There is a TON of info on here regarding exercise, recipes, etc. One of my favorites is "Feeling Good...Looking Great" (or something like that). Actually, I just made my first post on that forum today..... I also like to look at the success stories....depression....whatever I might be feeling that day. Of course, I am very partial to this forum, since I have been on it nearly as long as its conception (like a child, huh?).

I know some of you are wondering how you get the "ticker" that some of us have....or send private messages. I THINK you have to be on the forum (or any forum) for 20 days before you can use a ticker or private message...(Is that right..Mirazon?). I sure haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, but I will.

Some of us do "play around" with the diet, altho I don't think any of us did in the beginning months. I WISH I was like one of the posters that mentioned staying strict, losing the weight fast and getting on the phases fast. Of course, that would be ideal. If YOU can do it...please do...then you won't have to "play." One of our "graduates" (Valkyrie)- who is getting married in two weeks (which is probably why she isn't posting right now) and lost over 100# stayed strict. She is gonna look amazing in her wedding dress....If I remember right, she started IP in Feb.09....and by the time I came on the forum, she had lost her 100#!! I plan to send her an email (if I can find it) and ask if AFTER the wedding, honeymoon, etc.....she might come back on and help those of us going into maintenance soon.

I guess my point (above) is when you have time, go back thru old posts. This forum really got active around the first of October.

We DO have a wealth of info with the gals that are on here....and i love them all for it. Elisha is our "pharamacist" - who can usually tell you the medical reasoning or things to watch out for. Ogdog is our "recipe" finder....most of our recipes are from her (plus...as you can see above...she remembers websites, etc.). Mirazon and MeghanO stay strict to IP...and are amazing cheerleaders and info. Echobaby is always there for us (and makes us feel better when we slip). JoshB is actually doing a film about his weight loss (Josh - maybe put your blog info back on). Lilita is our philospher and our "clothes horse" (how I wish she could help me find new clothes....). SylvieG lost a ton of weight...took a break and is back on the horse again. I know I am missing some important people here..but again,...my point...go back thru old posts...get a ton of info from them....ask your questions..and know that we have ALL been thru what you newbies are going thru (recipes, confusion, depressed with stalls, etc.). I personally KNOW I could not have done IP or stayed on IP without this forum or these people.

OK (after writing my novel)....now I need to ask YOU ALL a question. My scale is the worst! It always weighs at least 4-6# heavier than the drs scale and I, too, am a closet scale jumper. I am aggravated cuz I bought it only 2 years ago, and spent over $40 on it! What scales are you "closet scale jumpers" using? Do you suggest a "springloaded scale" - a "digital" scale...? I just saw an ad for a WeightWatchers scale which said something about "precision." I would like to pick up a good one when I go into town on Friday...especially as I near maintenance, as I assume I won't be going to the dr. weekly then.....

Speaking of maintenance....I weigh in Thursday. I THINK I may finally do what the dr. suggested in the first place...change my goal weight to 150. I am in size 10 jeans (this diet sure does make you smaller than other diets I have been on - I just wish I had lost some out of my bust!!...I didn't NEED to lose my butt!). They wanted me on Phase II over a month ago, and I refused!

OK - so again...help me with turnips and brussel sprouts (or a new veggie)..and tell me what scale to buy. OK - The end!!!!!
I use a Tanita digital scale that measures by 0.2 lb (it can also measure kg or stones), and body fat. You enter your height, gender, and activity level for it to give you a body fat reading. Mine has the ability to have 2 people programmed into it (it is really easy to use). I've had mine for over 5 years and am happy with it. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was definately over $40. I got it at a fitness store.

Showgirlaz: if you look above the sticky for the Dec/Jan chat there are some stickies for IP Phases, IP FAQ and IP recipes. We have been putting the recipes there so that we do not have to hunt through all the posts looking for the one we happen to want.

In regards to exercise, the following is MHO on the subject:
we all know that 80% of weight loss is diet. Since we are on such a low carb, low calorie, low fat diet, if we stick to the program we are going to lose weight regardless of if we exercise or not. I do think that doing some cardio - not steady state cardio but interval training can help, but it should be limited in duration and times per week as it can also hinder. Resistance training does not burn many calories (and do we really need to burn any of the 800-900 caloires a day that we are eating?)but it helps with toning etc and making sure that after we finish the program, we have good strong muscles that help burn more calories even at rest.
I am sure that most of us have gone through phases where we go nuts with cardio exercise- aerobics, spinning etc. and ended up not losing very much weight after the inital period, which for me has convinced me that cardio type exercising is good for cardio/vascular health etc. but a combination of cardio (no more than 30-40 minutes a session, 2 times a week) and resistance training is the way to go. As I have said before, I wish I had concentrated more on the resistance workouts while on the IP program so that I would be more toned than I am now.

Yes I am smaller than I have been at the weight I am now, I am fitting into clothes that I wore when I weighed less, but there are places that really need to be much more toned than they presently are such as my thighs, arms etc.

Well I am now in IP maintenance mode and this is week 2 of quitting smoking. I had quit for 1.5 years and then started again in Sept. so I know I can quit but I wonder how it will go now that I still have to watch what I eat? Time will tell.

I know that some of you are using EAS shakes etc. (I plan on doing that as well due to the fact that money is very tight right now) and have found sites like lindora. Can someone look at newlifestylediet.com and tell me if you think these foods would work for us? Maybe some of them? Again, they are so much cheaper than the boxes we buy through IP. Thanks!
Just a note on this, their products have wonderful selections, but are MUCH higher in carbs than ours are.

Torchlaker, http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/othe...ecipes-17.html. Brussel sprout recipes. LOL, I didn't forget veggies in my posted recipes....especially since I am a veg-head. There are some good veggie recipes throughout the recipe area, sorry that they aren't all in one place.

When I weighed in on the 6th, I stayed the same as the week before( 192), and then when I went on the 15th, I only lost 2.5 lbs. But since then, I'm back to 192 again ( at home). Anyway, it's not all horrible, I just don't want to continue a downward spiral, like I've done so often on diets. Thank God I'm catching up on the posts from all of you that inspire and encourage me so much! I don't know why I stayed away...guilty conscience? I don't know...but I'm back and already feel so much better. I know I can do this and I am not going to let a couple of weeks of bad choices make a difference.
I don't know if I've ever shared that my goal right now is my 40th high school reunion in April. So I've lost 21 lbs. But need to lose lots more before then.
Thanks again for being here!
Welcome back Optichick. We've missed you. We all made some "alternative" choices over the holidays and are all now back and going strong. You'll be there again in no time. For all the time you were away 3 lbs is great...congrats. No feeling guilty, we understand!!!!

Today is my first day! And I have such a stomach ache from all the crap I ate yesterday. My friend told me to eat whatever I wanted before I started. So I had a little too much fun yesterday. Oh well!

I was planning on adding green peppers to my salads to help get my veggies in. But now I am reading that green peppers have to be cooked????? Why??? Do you not eat any raw green peppers??

callmecurvy, I've been eating 2 cups of raw green bell peppers. I never noticed the cooked part. Interesting.

Anyone out there can answer this?

The Alternative Phase 1 allows for raw green peppers and the Regular Phase 1 calls for "cooked only" on the Permitted Veg. List and all colors of peppers "cooked only" on the Occasional Veg's List.

I personally do use a small amout of raw peppers(all colors) in salads from time to time...but not everyday!

I wonder why though, as cooked has more carbs in than raw (per cup (per fitday.com)).
