Just about to finish day 14 on IP. And it's going much better than I imagined it would. I have tried just about everything out there. Lifetime member of Lean Line back in the 80's ( are they still even around?), WW, not Jenny Craig but the other one, South Beach etc etc etc, but life and stuff helped with that creep up of weight over the last 20 years. The one thing that drove me crazy about a lot of 'diets' is the constant emphasis on FOOD!! Measure this measure that, you need x amount of this and that .. on and on! When I didn't want to have to think about food and just eat, all I did was think about food!
I am tired of being FAT". I have no major health issues except being diagnosed with lyme disease last July and still testing positive for that,, blood work has always been good except for that cholesterol, no sugar issues, no high blood pressure. But the joints are giving way after years of carrying "another person" along with me. I can't keep up with the grandkids, can't get in and out of our fishing boat without help, and that airline seat is tight... to say the least.
My girlfriend is an IP coach and it took her over a year of gentle persuasion for me to finally start. Her husband and I started the same week, so here we are on our journey. I found this forum doing an IP search. Been reading thru the posts and am so appreciative of the sharing of everyone's experiences, the questions and answers, the recipes. I know sea salt is better than that table salt stuff, the natural minerals, been using it for years. SPARINGLY as we're told by drs. But just read the post a few back that we need to use the sea salt A LOT while on this protocol because of the potassium. Makes sense to me now! Maybe that's why I've been tired, although that is also a symptom from the lyme.
I am a water drinker, so the water was no problem. Fruit and I are hit or miss, so I am not missing it. I'm a carb queen, so I'm missing the pretzels, and bagels and pasta. But not as much as I thought. Enjoying trying different ways to cook what is permitted, and it's going well there.
just wanted to say thanks again...

Tomorrow morning I will weigh in and see what the total two week loss will be.
Today is my first day! And I have such a stomach ache from all the crap I ate yesterday. My friend told me to eat whatever I wanted before I started. So I had a little too much fun yesterday. Oh well!
I was planning on adding green peppers to my salads to help get my veggies in. But now I am reading that green peppers have to be cooked????? Why??? Do you not eat any raw green peppers??
I was told NO raw green peppers and NO cooked onion. not sure about the why part.
So I am soaring through day 2. I feel much better than yesterday. I had such a bad headache I went to bed and 8:30. I had fish and broccoli for dinner last night which was actually really delish.. I am really hoping that day 3 is even better! Just wanted to give a little update of progress. I hope everyone is doing well!
Make sure you are getting in all your salt! If at the end of the day you haven't had the 1/2 tsp, add it to water and drink it. You will find it helps with the headaches MOST all of the times you are having one.
I was wondering what kind of lettuce people are eating? My consultant recommends the giant packages of Romaine from Costco, but that's because she works there. I really prefer green leaf lettuce and just wondered if it really mattered. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I am eating all kinds of lettuce. Mostly romaine, and in my state, it is cheapest to by the packs from costco and cut them down. However, I like oak leaf, red leaf, green, herb salad, baby greens, field greens, iceberg, and butter SO I chop up whatever and mix it with the romaine, or not sometimes! Doing so, has not PERSONALLY effected me and has helped me to tolerate all the lettuce we take in.

I also had really bad headaches the first 3 days. They were always in the afternoon. I was told the increase of water flushes toxins and electolytes out therefore, the increased need of salt. Also, that there is a 3 day store of glycogen (sp) in our bodies and as it depletes we will get some headaches. Part of the carb withdrawal process it seems. On day 4 I didn't have a headache at all according to my journal notes.

So I started this last Saturday with my daughter, she ended up in tears by Monday and quit. She said she never realized how much she took oranges and apples for granted. I have to admit, this has been very hard for myself as well, I am wondering why everyone else is doing so good? I know I have lost weight (closet scale jumper) but my kidneys are killing me and I have no energy. I am thinking I am doing something wrong, but determined to do my best with this, especially since making such a large financial obligation. I am thinking I need to get the bars and shakes and try that for awhile, as I am just not that great at trying to change things up and have to cook. I am traveling alot right now and my hotel room had no refrigerator or microwave, I was stumped, hmmmm. Will see this through as long as possible!
I had to travel during the 3rd week of this. I packed a soft side cooler and baggies which I kept filled with Ice. I was able to use the premade drinks (vanilla and choc) cold. I had a small assortment of veggies cut up that I got at the store. ( you might be able to get them from the hotel kitchen too) I had alot of drinks, wildberry yogurt, cereal, pudding. If you can get a microwave for your room, (some hotels will let you have them for a small fee if you request ahead; same is true of a fridge) I was able to microwave the eggs for about 2 to 2.5 min at 80percent power in a glass bowl. Last, I was able to microwave or use an immersion heater to warm soup. You can also just request the warm water from the kitchen, then if you own a portable protein shaker mixer (very small and battery operated.. inexpensive to get) you can "blend" the soup mix into the water for a soup. I haven't had a problem getting eggs, steamed or sauteed veggies, salads, fish or chicken made to my needs when eating out and I have had to do that for about 30% of the time I have been on the program. Good luck! I am sure you can make this work!
As for your daughter, she is probably having sugar withdrawals fairly strong, especially if she is a big eater of oranges or apples. You might have her speak with your coach/counselor/or Doctor. It is possible that they may find it helpful for her to add some chromium picolinate, cinnamon, or inulin to her diet while she gets past the sugar cravings. I know all three can have some impact on the bodies ability to withstand sugar cravings. I use the chromium/inulin in a mix with my stevia. I do think the suggestion that she "Prep" for the program by cutting back on her carb intake and fruit intake before starting may reduce the need quiet a bit!

Well friends, after my 1 lb weight loss in week 11, I lost 4lbs this week! See my totals below! Glad I stuck with it, I really wanted to bail. My coach quit on Monday & I struggled with what to do, stick with it, bail, find another provider to go through. IT appears that I will stick it out. The IP food was on short order this week, but has been ordered!
I am off my ULTIMATE BOOTCAMP that my coach put me on last week. Back to the 3 IP packets & 1 self prepared protein & the regular list of veggies. I still have alot of my "bootcamp" veggies & will attempt to finish them before they go bad. If I have a low weight loss week next week, then I will return to bootcamp style till the end.
I also started exercising yesterday. I did 31 minutes on the treadmill, about a 17 min mile. Need to pick up my pace, but think I did good for my first time in a VERY LONG TIME. Also held hand weights & my back notices that new pain today!
Thanks friends for helping me the past week, I was a WRECK, physically & emotionally to.
Thanks, Meghan
hi i started IP the day after Thanksgiving, I lost 10 lbs in the first 3 weeks and then Christmas came.. I keep falling off the wagon, but starting today I am back on. I keep getting confused when I go to buy the products. This is what I would eat Breakfast Orange Pancakes, Lunch Protein Chili, salad and veggies, for dinner I will have skinless chicken breast and veggies and side salad.. snack pudding. am i doing this right? two restricted meals and any others would be non restricted correct? someone please help. thanks!
only lost 1.6 lbs this weigh in - very discouraged. my coach told me I need to drink more water and i have to agree. I don't like the taste of water and have a hard time remembering to drink my 8 glasses. I was also drinking too much coffee - it's showing in my results. i've been drinking more water the last two days and i'm hungry again - how weird - i guess something is happening...
I just went to the website to check things out and their pre-made shakes are identical ....same box....same ingredients.....but about 50 % less then I've been paying... $67.00 for 24 ($2.83 per shake) vs $28.00 for 6 ($4.66 a shake) . Thats a freaking bargin....!
Has anyone ordered from this site ????
i know..u can get the lindora shakes at any rite aid drug store..they are waaay cheaper!

Are you on Phase 1? My plan/coach says 1 restricted food item a WEEK. And I am not even allowed to by them from her until I have been on the program for 1 month with success. So, that seems like a lot of food to me.
Do you have a list of the restricted and non-restricted food items?
