So today is day 6 and things are better. I have noticed that I am not thinking about food as much, still miss some things, but I imagine this takes time.
I too am a dog lover, I have a smooth collie, havanese, and an australian shephard. I want to do agility some day with the aussie, so that is one reason I would like to drop some pounds. I am tired of my weight restricting my activities and choices I make in life. My youngest daughter has been to the junior olympics three times and her goal is the Olympics (as is all young athletes) but in case she makes it I dont want to be the chubby mom in the stands cheering my daughter on.
Thanks to all the posts regarding traveling with this diet, and it has become apparent that I need to purchase the chocolate and vanilla and I believe the pina colada drinks, I think that will help.
Very excited to weigh in this saturday, I have to admit I weigh myself everytime I go to MY bathroom, I cant help it, and this morning it looks like I am down at least 7 pounds and still have today and tomorrow to go!
Had my weigh in today. I lost 1 pound. Not great, not bad, I just wanted more, still kicking myself for cheating on Sunday. I am also a bit plugged up, that probably didn't help, I need to find something to fix that problem.
Next week, I'm changing things up a bit and having my lunch as my dinner.
I may be rethinking my goal to 120lbs. Even though I was 105 when I got married, after 3 kids, 120 ain't bad for 5'2". I guess I'll reevaluate in a couple of weeks.
I made tuna salad with the WF Coleslaw mix. I put enough Spicy Brown Mustard to cover the taste and used big leaf lettuce as the wrap. My turnip chips came out great, and need to get more. Those are my comfort food!
Week 1 -6lbs.
Week 2 -2lbs.
Week 3 -4lbs.
Week 4 -1lb.
Total -13lbs. since December 16th

Food for thought-I tried the WF dressing-let's just say I returned it to Owens and got my money back. I decided to google diabetic salad dressing recipies and a wonderful site came up-tons of options and a lot of them don't have oil. I am going to try and make Kays dressing and the No Calorie Diabetic Dressing. Hope this is helpful.
Since everyone is sharing their dogs, I will share mine. Her name is Leia (as in Princess Leia from Starwars) and she is a pug! We got her because we weren't planning on having a third child, we ended up with a third anyways! She's wonderful and has a very special bond with our littlest. When she was a baby, she used to sleep outside of her door at naptime and come and get me when she started stirring.
PRINCASS- can't wait to hear how they taste. I am going to have to figure something out for maint. and that sounds like a great option! I am already planning on using Almond Butter to replace Peanut butter, I read some of Dr. Tran's book yesterday. I'm very fearful about living in maint. world.
My coach told me no exercising, more than a very light walk, for the first month. I'm wondering what I can do after that? I want to add some cardio and weight lifting and would like to know what anyone else does. I'm sure my body will let me know when it's too much! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ritiki, I started exercising on my IP Holiday break (after completing my 1st weightloss goal of -60#) and started IP again after 2-3 weeks of working out. 15 min. cardio and 15 min. weights on weekdays are giving me more energy that I had in the last few years but my weightloss has stalled after 2 days of cheating last weekend & pre-period time of the month! Don't know if it is exercise related or not! I will try to add an extra protein to my lunch next week to see if it makes a difference... (I go to the gym on my lunch break & eat right after!)
Found some protein package replacements in the aisles of grocery stores!
- Nordica Single Serve Cottage Cheese 1% (Gay Lea) Plain (Per 113 g: 90 Cal, 1g fat, 8g Carbs, 3g Fibre, 4g Sugars, 13g Protein...).
- Egg Creations Original (Burnbrae Farms) is made from real egg whites and other ingredients to provide a full accompaniment of important vitamins and minerals. (Per 1/2 cup, 126 g: 60 Cal, 0g fat, 1g Carbs, fiber and sugar, 14g Protein...)
- Liberté No Fat 0,1% plain yogourt (Per 6 oz, 70g: 90 Cal, 0g fat, 10g Carbs, 0g fibre, 7g sugars, 12g Protein)
May not be exactly IP compliant (but has less calories and sugars then IP Bars!) but their price makes good sense for me! Hope it can be some help to those searching for alternatives!
Sylvie G,
You brought up another question I had. Can you take a "break" from Phase I and move for a few weeks to Phase 2 and then back to Phase I? I'm afraid I'll get sick of the Phase 1 foods before I reach my goal. Is that what you did?
Thanks for the advice on exercise too!
ritiki19 - Phase 2 is not much different than phase 1. You just replace your protein pack at lunch with the 5oz of lean protein (same as dinner) and you still have 2 protein packs a day. Probably wouldnt give you the break you needed from the IP food. There is an alternate plan for phase 1 that includes a small amount of grains, dairy and fruit. If you are really getting sick of the strict phase 1 then perhaps try the alternate diet for a few weeks. You will still lose weight but not at such a rapid pace.
Cherryface - You mentioned a while back that your daughter had a really tough time with the program. Someone else mentioned that maybe it was because she was used to eating higher sugar/carb things such as apples and oranges. If she decides to give it another go maybe the alternate diet I mentioned would be a good fit to eas her into the program. This version of the plan can be used for people that are coming off high carb ways of eating to more comfortably ease them into the program. just a thought.
Torchlaker - Your comment about missing the rum in the pina colada made me think. In my grocery store in the baking isle they have rum flavoring, right next to the vanilla, perhaps adding a touch would make it seem more like a real pina colada!
Someone mentioned the alcohol in the vanilla extract, I wouldnt be too worried about it. The amount of it that you would use has a neglegible amount of alcohol in it and I would highly doubt it would effect your results. I use vanilla in my pudding everyday and I'm still losing. Now if i could only kick my habit of sneaking spoonfuls of peanut butter i'd be set, lol.
Hello to all!
I was so excited to see this forum. I am on my second day of the IPD and I am having a tough time eating the veges. Any suggestions on how to get them down? I love most of the food. The chocolate pudding was not my favorite. It tasted a little chalky. Does anyone have any suggestions?
oh and i wanted to thank whoever mentioned pudding shakes on here. I have been LOVING them lately. Especially the butterscotch! I put a bit of vanilla, a packet of splenda and a pinch of cinnamon in about 220 ml of water, it is sooo fantastic!
angieamn, i found the same with the chocolate pudding at first, then I followed some fo the suggestions on here. I like to add more water than recommended and make a shake out of it. I add a capful of vanilla and a packet of splenda and about 200-220 ml of water. It's pretty good, but i would love it if it was more chocolatey. I looked up the nutritional information on cocoa powder today and will try adding a bit to my next "shake".
The veggies are easy to get in by adding to soup or the herb and cheese omlete. I also like topping my lettuce with warm steamed veggies and adding my salad dressing on top(usually olive oil, apple cider vinegar, garlic, dijon mustard, salt & pepper)
One more question for anyone out there, how will I know when my body is in Ketosis? Also, I know that my paperwork says constipation is a possible side effect, I have just the opposite. I can't keep anything in. Is that normal?
