Today was kinda my first day back on the wagon since the beginning of the month. Thick, wet snow forced quite the workout and my food was spot on and what happens when I workout AND eat good foods? Oh right, I feel good, too. And feeling good makes everything easier. Maybe you could change up your workout and food intake (still with a smaller deficit) and see if you can get things going again? Or change your focus to inches lost? |
Oh, and Girls on the Run starts tomorrow. Nothing like coaching a bunch of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls to get things going again. Yay!

Hi guys,
I've been lurking around the forum for a long time but finally just signed up. I love my body bugg, but I have been having a really hard time so far. I've been eating a ton (literally around 6000 cals a day) and have gained 50 pounds. Unfortunately, I am having the HARDEST time getting my burn in! And then I just get discouraged and eat everthing in sight and promise to start tomorrow  UGH! So I finally decided to get serious and hopefully join the challange, but I was wondering what tips/tricks you guys have for getting a little extra burn in? I already go to the gym, so I'm wondering if anyone has little things they do around the house to raise their numbers? thanks! |

Petlover- just try to make small changes overtime, if your currently eating 6000 cals a day try cutting back to 2500 cals and once your body gets used to that level cut back a little more. What is your average daily burn? If your having a hard time cutting back on cals then eat at the level you burn, you probably wont lose weight if you eat the same amount of cals you burn but its good to try and maintain until you find what works best for you. We are all here to give you support and Im happy you have joined us:hug:
The little things that I do that add up is walk, dance, or figget (sp?). I have the radio on in my kitchen 24/7 so once I hear a song come on that I like I just dance to it. I don't do it intentionally but I just love to dance to my favorite songs when I happen to be in the kitchen. Walking is so underrated and it burns a good amount of cals and plus its good for your joints. I picked my favorite show that comes on everyday which happens to be the Dog Whisperer and I told myself I can not watch it unless I walk on the treadmill while watching it. Walk at a slow comfortable pace that you can do for a while. This one person said if you have time to sit down and watch tv then you have time to exercise and I was like that is so true. Cleaning the house, parking far from the store, walking around Wal-Mart or the mall helps add to my calorie burn. Also carrying my son who weighs 40 lbs makes me burn more cals. Sitting at the computer right now I burn about 1.5 cals which is the same as when Im asleep so I try to limit my time on the computer. This one girl said she would wiggle on her exercise ball and burn about 300 cals a hour. Also I like doing intervals when Im at the gym. I set my treadmill to hills and then I walk when the treadmill is at a incline and then I jog when the treadmill is flat. Also on the elliptical I do intervals also, some have said that they don't get good calorie burns according to there BB while on the elliptical but I always go by what the BB says. It took me about 3 weeks to figure out how to use my BB to its fullest |
Hi, I've been lurking on this thread, too. I love my GWF (GoWearFit) and find the best way to bump my burn up is to stay off the couch. What a difference! I try to just putter around the house at night, nothing strenuous, but just wandering around, tidying up, putting things away, folding laundry while standing instead of sitting, doing my stretching. There is always stuff to do and this finally gives me incentive to do it. My house has been *much* tidier lately!

Thanks for the encouragement!
*at least* the 107# isn't coming back, I should be able to fuel the rest of this loss on that, eh? |
I wanted to say welcome to all the new people and feel free to join the BB/GWF challenge:)

I'm a new GWF wearer as of today! I'm really enjoying seeing my numbers (I got the display watch too).
I have one question - it showed me at 900-something right away? Is that counting sleep from midnight through 7 am when I put it on? Or does it give you a certain amount of BMR calories at the start of each day? Or??? |
What do your METS average per day?
This is something I've never seen discussed. Normally my average METS (see below) are less than 2. Yesterday, I averaged "2" for the first time, at least that I noticed. Probably because I did a little more cardio than normal (generally I weight train, which for some reason doesn't show up as heavy activity even though it feels like it to me!) http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/a...verageMETS.png I'm curious -- what does everyone average for their METS per day? My understanding is 1 MET is what you are doing when you're sitting quietly, 3 METS is moderate activity like walking, and 6 METS is vigorous activity like jogging. So, what would be a good AVERAGE for a day? Or do we know? HaHa ... you can see I sat on my butt after 7:15 pm last night. No lying to the GoWear Fit! |
Thanks for the welcome. I may just join the challenge, the timing works out well for me, I'd like to lose some weight before the summer.

Sooo, anyone else having issues with bodymedia? It keeps taking me to the storefront vs the activity manager.
|
It does that sometimes to me too. If I plug in my GWF then it takes me to my stats. Its hit or miss for me if I don't plug it in.
