I'd be up for challenge, too. I'm actually on my third day of a personal ten-day challenge, after pigging out too often when I was on the road last week:devil: . But it would be nice to do the TJ Challenge with a group. Count me in!

I am so excited everyone is joining me on monday for the challenge! I know we can all do this!

NightKatt - Hopefully you will get yours soon and then you can join us to. You are so pretty in your picture!

Nightkatt 08-12-2006 12:18 AM

*Blushing* thank you Angel (well named for sure :) ). It was taken 2 years ago when I was travelling the world (first time out of NZ in my life lol) in the UK :) It is pretty much the only pic I allow people to see rofl .. I hate cameras and was sooooo nervous when I was at the studio, I almost left while I was waiting after they did my makeup rofl ... but once I was in there the lady was wonderful and she made it a lot of fun .. I thought I would be lucky if there was one nice one .. but instead there were FIVE that I liked .. so I rang my hunny who was at home in NZ (2 in the morning rofl) and asked him if I could get more than one rofl .. (one was free .. would have to pay for the rest), as he has never had a pic of me he said yes so I got 5 shots to bring home with me :) Unfortunately I have put on a few kilos since then ... but looking forward to getting back down to there and lower.

I dont think my TJ will be here on Monday (which is Sunday over there lol) .. but hopefully it wont be too much later :) Im combining TJ with my Jenny Craig and hope that it wont be a too hard ... definitely gonna be drinking more I hope lol ..

Good luck to everyone doing the challenge ... Im going to be doing it with my daughter who has agreed to join in with me, she wants to get fit and healthy for summer so is joining me in the Xmas Challenge :)

Today I went out and bought some bike pants, tee-shirts, socks, sneakers AND 2x 1lb weights so that I am all ready for the day the pack arrives lol ... Are there any larger ppl on here doing this (over 300lbs) ... just wondering is it hard to do for the larger person ... I read a few of the success stories on the TJ site .. but no-one on there did I see start over 300lb rofl .. maybe I wasnt looking enough?

Have a great weekend all!

What do you guys think the most effective turbo jam workout is?

judydc 08-13-2006 06:44 PM

Krazy--probably everyone responds differently to different routines at different time (gee, what a helpful answer, huh?). I've been doing the Cardio Jam several times a week, alternating with other cardio videos, but this week I will mix in the other TJs. I already do weight work at Curves at least 2x a week, and once a week I do a Karen Voigt circuit training video, so I am eager to see if I like the Ab Jam or other strengthening routines better.

Nightkatt, I'm still pretty hefty, over 230 pounds, and I can manage most of the TJ moves. It's not graceful, in fact I'm sure it's pretty comical looking, especially my kicks, but no one's looking, and I don't give a rat's behind, anyway. I'm doing what I need to do to look better and be healthy. You can modify many of the moves as you need to. I was nearly 50 pounds heavier several years ago, and could barely get through 15 minutes of a workout video. But I learned to just march in place, to keep my heart rate up, when the moves on a video were too difficult for me. You can do it! Just pace yourself and take it one step at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Angel, if you start a new thread for the challenge, please post it on this one, too, so I don't have to search all over to find you:D . I'm psyched and ready to Jam off more of this weight.

Hey Judy - I have posted the new challenge! It officially starts tomorrow. It is on this same forum (Exercise Videos). I am about to post on it so it should be up near the top.

Night - I understand what you mean about not taking or liking having your pictures taken. I have a husband who is a photographer and I dont like it. I think it is because I truly do not know how fat I am until I see myself in a picture and then I realize that I am not just pudgy - I am fat! and that just hurts. I always tell my husband that if I ever get skinny again he had better watch it - I will be wearing all the trampy clothes. I apparently didnt appreciate my skinny body when I had it the first time. I will really appreciate it and show it off the next time!

Krazy - I like to change it up with my TJ.... depends on how much time I have and what mood I am in. I have them all so I can push play on whatever one I want.

Hope to see everyone on the challenge tomorrow! We can do this!!!

I would like to share my experience with everyone. After having a baby 2 months ago I decided it was time to lose some weight. I had already lost my baby weight but wanted to lose about 25 more lbs. I decided to order Turbo Jam and see a Dietician. I started my 1500 calorie diet and Turbo Jam 8 days ago. I have had Great Results. I have went from 164.8 to 155 and lost 11.5 inches! Turbo Jam has been my best investment ever!

Angel26519 08-15-2006 04:27 PM

Way to go Briggs - That is so awesome!! Keep up the great work!

If you would like to join us we are having a 10 day challenge on this same forum!

We would love to have you and your inspiration pushing us forward!!!

RachelleS 08-15-2006 05:20 PM

That is awesome Briggs!!!! Congratulations. I would send your success story to Beachbody - I don't know where it is at but Ashley, Chalene's cousin was looking for some. I think she went back home but they must be still collecting them somewhere.

Does anyone use the beachbody food journal? I have been keeping track of what I eat, but find that the portion sizes that BB uses is not friendly at all.

Example - I had 1 cup of Stonyfield Farms Plain, non fat yogurt - 110 cals, but on BB they list 3 oz as the serving and then you click how many servings you ate. So, basically I entered 3 servings (9 oz) for 120 cals.

Another thing that BB does is when you enter your favorite foods, it drops them into a meal slot instead of a main food bank.

Just venting.

Ev, I would use fitday dot com or sparkspeople dot com. I've used both but fitday the longest and I bought the PC version along time ago. I like Fitday for the exercise part and sparkspeople for the food and reports - but their exercise entering is such a pain in the butt for weight lifting that I finally quit and just stuck with fitday. Good luck! Oh - both on the websites are free (I had to pay for the pc version).

Hey what happened to all the Turbo Jammers?!

I just got the Live/Booty and CP2/Lowerbody in the last week or so. I like CP2 and Lower fairly well. The Live one was alittle quick for me but not too bad and I still have to try Booty. Other then that I have the basic package of which I love love CP1. I have CP3 which is a bit too advanced for me as of yet, but I don't have the rest of the Maximum package yet. Is it worth getting?

Hope all the Jammers didn't drop off the face of 3FC!

Is TURBO JAM FOR ME?

Hi Idealmuse,

You sound like you really enjoy TJ!
I'm a bit heavier at 311lbs and I reallly, really want to order
the program but thought it may not be user friendly for me at my
current size but maybe more down the line.

What do you think?

My other question is, I already own Walk Away the Pounds and was going to do this along with TJ's ab workout, but I have no idea what the ab workout is named in the TJ program? Could you tell me? This way I can order the ab workout separately on ebay and then ease into other phases of the TJ program.

By the way, how was the standing ab workout for you?

I know that laying on the floor doing ab work it out of the question with my big boobs! lol

Hope to hear from you.

Rina

RachelleS 09-24-2006 10:51 PM

Idealmuse, the Maximum package is the absolute best!! I love all the workouts but especially Punch, Kick and Jam and 3T - & Fat Blaster. I think it's for sure worth getting.

Honieelove, the ab workout is Ab Jam. This is one workout I don't do very often. It's a good workout, I just have a hard time fitting it in. It has some TJ moves but you don't get the full effect of Turbo Jam like you would with say the 20 Minute workout. For starting out, you for sure want the Learn and Burn and the 20 Minute. I love the 20 Minute workout and it is a great workout to start with after you learn the moves with Learn & Burn. The Ab Jam has 9 minutes standing and then 9 minutes on the floor - you can do the whole thing or break it up.

I'm still doing Turbo Jam and loving every minute of it. I've also been doing Jari Love for strength. I was doing the sculpting from TJ but I had a test at the clinic I'm doing the eating plan with and I need to add more muscle mass. I'm suppose to see a personal trainer and join a gym but Labor Day weekend I ran into some health problems and long story short, ended up being taken by ambulance to a small town hospital on our trip to my parents house because of chest tightness & pain and then I lost feeling in my arms and legs. Since then I've had a lot of tests done - stress test came back good but they found something on my chest x-rays from the hospital so I had to go in for a CAT scan - so with a lot of these bills coming my way, there is no way I have the extra money for that and as a mom, I don't have the time to go either. I exercise at night because that is the only I time I have for me and I've been fitting in my weight workout when I get home from work so I don't have to do cardio and weights and be up until 11:00 pm. I enjoy working out in my own home so I'm hoping Jari helps. I actually plan to start P90X as soon as I get the test they have you do done. I'm actually a little scared of this program and I also want to to a rotation where I can keep my Turbo Jam in there as my cardio. I've had it since January 2005 and haven't even looked at one of the workouts yet.

Idealmuse 09-24-2006 11:43 PM

HonieeLove -

You may be able to do it at your size, but I would start off modifying what you need to and don't do anything that isn't in the basic package as those ones move much faster. I started off just alittle bit less then you I think I was doing Leslie for about a month or 2 before I ventured into Turbo-Land. I found the moves a bit tricky at first and it did take me a few run throughs but once you start getting them down it really is so much fun! Some of the leslie stuff will prepare you for turbo like the kicking and knee lifts.

I think I started Turbo when I was about 280-285. I only did AbJam once so I don't remember a lot about it. I know what you mean though about floor work being hard. Its still hard for me but I'm getting stronger. I only did AbJam once because I like Turbo for cardio, and when I clocked Ab Jam it only burned about 189cals. I in general don't like ab only workouts, you might like it.

RachelleS - Thanks I think I will get the max package but I'm going to wait a few months until I can revisit CP3. I'm excited to try it though. Plus the new ones coming out in a few months. BTW I do lots of Jari Love too! Mostly Ripped and Slim and Lean but they are both great and there is another one coming out next month called ripped1000. Sorry to hear about your medical stuff. I did the trainer thing for awhile but let me tell you this my progress strength wise has be MUCH better doing it at home with Ripped (I throw in a few other things now and then but mostly ripped 2-3 times a week atleast) I exercise 6days a week and try to alternate 3 of them cardio. I'm not sure if its because of the frequency or what but Ive gained a lot of muscle mass in the last 4 months. I also want to do P90X but everyone tells me to wait, so I will probably get it when I am about 20-30lbs from my goal weight. It seems like THE program though for strength training. I can't even do push-ups yet though so I need to wait.
