Hello myself and Mindi! Heehee

Got the cardio walk in today. Pulled my son in the wagon, didn't put him in the backpack.

Mindi: today my weakness was a mini powdered donut. Not too bad, though.

We will close on August 26th on the house. Just not going to be done before we leave.

I might be hit and miss on the board until I leave next Saturday. I will try to check in, but can't promise anything for sure!

WHERE ARE MY POWER GIRLS AT??????

Chach

Mindi 07-31-2003 07:29 AM

i'm SURE they're off exercising Chach! hehehe!

I fell to the power of some cheese pizza last night..'sigh'

Zanne 07-31-2003 08:19 AM

I'm still around

Just not doing much. I AM exercising my jaws and eating too much bad stuff. Mint oreos and cheesies got me yesterday. Well, I did have to walk to the store to buy them. LOL! I had another headache and no sleep night before last. Head still isn't the best today and it's supposed to be raining for the next few days. Not a good thing. Plus I stayed up late to watch the Rolling Stones. Did you guys hear about that concert?

CHACHEE--Sorry the house will be another month. I know first hand how frustrating the delays can be. Good idea for taking the wagon.

MINDI--I love hard cheetos too! One of yesterday's downfalls. Did you see Dr. Phil the other day--He did a show with his wife about women and their hormones. He had a recipe called a "perio zapper" using supplements. It might be on his website if you're interested.

I KNOW i have to get back on track. My body is sluggish from all the bad carbs and too many starches. PLUS I'm going to a party with my DH's family in a couple of weeks and would like to drop a few inches.

Reading about you guys does inspire me. Thanks for putting up with me.

Mindi 07-31-2003 10:44 AM

Oh thank you Zanne, I'm going to look for the 'zapper' right now!

Hi everyone! Missed ya'll this week!

Left out Sunday morning and just got home a little while ago. Went to Hot Springs, AR first for 3 days...got to go to an amusement park which was my fav part since rollercoasters are THE most fun thing in the world to me! The kids got tired of riding before I did. Anyway, left there and went to Hope, AR to visit one of my sisters. From there headed to Shreveport, LA to visit my youngest sis (that's her daughter in the pic with me ). Came home late this afternoon but immediately called my other sis ( I have 3 of them lol) to come walk and we got in 3 miles!:cp: I think I got in a lot of exercise at the amusement park cuz there was lots of walking and LOTS of hills!

We did take food with us, healthy type stuff, but also ended up eating once at Wendy's, once at Burger King, and today Cici's Pizza.:o (all u can eat, at that) Weighed tho and I didnt gain anything. Whew..what a relief!

Hubby and I are driving 60 miles tomorrow to Monroe, LA to just shop, maybe see a movie, and spend the nite in a motel. His parents are keeping the kids so it'll just be us...cant wait!;)

Well better go...all our clothes are dirty so I gotta get busy if we're heading out again. I'll be back full force next week for sure.
Take care everyone!

MIKI

WOW...has it really been that long since I've posted? :o Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, SORRY!!!! :sorry: I don't know what's gotten into me...just can't seem to sit down at the computer lately!
No...I haven't gotten back to the routine yet...however, someone at work mentioned that I looked like I was losing weight...guess going back to work and not sitting around eating all day is a GOOD thing, eh?
So how's everyone? You guys are so good about keeping up with the boards...hope I'm forgiven for being MIA again!!!:rollpin:
Guess it must be a summer thing to whack your hair off? haha My best friend told me it was time to stop being a "teeny-bopper" and get an adult haircut....hahahaHOHOHO. Well, I did! Still not sure if I like it...do you guys think your haircuts made your face look fatter????? That's the way I feel, but it's sort of too late now, ya know??? haha
You guys have a good weekend...IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII love ya!

today I let my hair dry naturally, I cut it off last year and I usually have to use a flat iron on it to get the style I like, that very choppy, Lisa Rina do, but today I just gelled it and said LET IT BE CURLY!! And it IS! :(

TGIF

Good Morning Ladies!

Well, I'm off to a good start today. Had one piece of WW toast with a hard boiled egg and 16 oz of water. my eating has been really bad and I feel crappy. Back to the good stuff today. I know it's Friday, but why wait?

MINDI--did you find the peri zapper? The only time my hair gets styled is when I go and get it cut. Otherwise, outta the shower, run a brush thru it and let it dry on it's own.

MIKI--Glad you had a nice trip. Boy are you dedicated by getting in your walk the day you come back! Enjoy your time "children free"

KRISTIN--Good to see you post. Maybe you and I should get together and start our exercise at Day 1. I've been a bad girl.

Hmmm, I tried to attach a pic but it's too big. I just got a scanner and am still trying to figure things out. Maybe next time.

Mindi 08-01-2003 10:39 AM

yes I did, thanks Susanne. I'm going to buy her book. I have Christine Northrup's book as well, but I've never gotten it fully read.

Hi everybody

I thought maybe this thread was for me. You all sound so motivational. I really want to try this Power 90, but first let me tell you where I am in all of this. Started with Jazzercise, liked it, but don't have time for a video right now. Have 4 kids, one is a baby. When school starts I plan to get down and dirty with exercise and diet. I also have Tae Bo, the Firm, which I love, but it's hard for me. Did Body for Life, and think it's good, but didn't stick with it. Tried Leslie Sansone, and can't stand the videos because it sounds like one long commercial for her stuff. Have Pilates for Dummies, which I plan to try. As far as diets, have done WW, and lost 20, gained again. Weigh Down, lost 40, best diet ever, but gained it back. And am taking Sateitrol, which helps, and will use to try to diet when school starts.

So, what I really want to know is, am I going to be able to stick to this, is it going to help me, have any of you done Body for Life, and how different is it from that? It sounds much like that. How long is the exercise from beginning to end, and do the 1/2 hour videos work? I know all of you can help me make my decision, and if I go with this, I can't wait to be part of your group, I really like all of you already. You are all so positive and helpful to one another, I like that!

Thanks bunches,
Julie :)

Zanne 08-01-2003 06:49 PM

Hi Julie

I think it's good that you're asking questions. Have you taken a look at the BeachBody site?(they put out the Power 90 program). They have more info there and might answer some of your questions.

I did the exercise part of BFL last year (or 2 years now:?: ) I liked the lifting, but hated having to consult my list of moves (I don't have a great memory:lol: ). I like the Power 90 because Tony is right there telling me what to do. I also like the little tracker feature so I can see exactly where I am and how much more I have to do! I find the half hour goes by very quickly for me. I also like that there isn't really any dance kind of stuff. I'm not very co-ordinated, so a lot of those aerobic videos were a waste of money for me.

I have bad joints and screwed up my knee a couple of times doing the sculpt video, but I modified it and that was ok. But with my sore knee, I couldn't do the cardio part of the Power 90 program because the moves aggrevated the knee too much. So I did the elliptical machine instead for cardio. My knee is better so I hope to get back to both parts of the program.

I was already pretty much eating like the plan Power 90 comes with. I just have to make sure I get in all my fruits and veggies.

I don't take any of the BeachBody supplements. I take calcium and a multivitamin that I choose at the drugstore. I think supplements are an individual choice.

I think any exercise will work, but you just have to do it. (I need to follow my own advice!!!!!!!) So if you like what you're doing, you're more apt to do it and therefore it will work. Do you know anyone who has the program that you could borrow it and try it out before you buy it? I have a drawer full of videos that I did for a week and then they got stuffed away. Power 90 I keep going back to.

With 4 kids to chase after, you must be getting some kind of exercise!

I don't know if what I've said helps or confuses you. I hope it helped a little.

Maybe we'll see you again on the board!
Susanne

wannabeslimnow! 08-01-2003 10:27 PM

Thanks Susanne,

I like a bit of the dancey kind of stuff. Liked Jazzercise, but hated Leslie Sansone with a passion, seemed SO condescending to me + seemed like one LONG informercial! The Power 90 seems like a good thing to do. Will have to see if I can borrow one. Would love to try an eliptical trainer too. Yep, with 4 kids between baby and 13 years I get a workout, even if most days it's mostly emotional!
I really like reading this thread, will definitely explore the beachbody site more. Would love to be a Power Girl! :D

Take care,
Julie

Hi everybody!

Home now and everything goes back to normal on Monday...work again..YUCK! Had a great week tho so I cant complain.

Julie, welcome to our thread! You can stay here with us whether or not you end up using Power 90. We started out a Power 90 thread but all of us have tried or are trying other things also. At the moment, I am just walking. I got burned out on the videos and hated being indoors. I'll get back to them at some point, I'm sure. Mine werent' the Power90 exactly...they were also by Beachbody but they are called Power Half Hr....a shorter 6 week program rather than the 90 days. Still with Tony tho. I felt like I was getting a good rounded workout, but after 4 weeks, gave up for walking. My sis and I walk together and we love it. This winter we may get back to the tapes.

I'm not even going to begin to catch up on posting individually. I did read them all. I'll start back keeping up now that I'm home again.

Everyone having a good weekend?? Hope so! Mine has been extra nice.

Well better run for now. I'll check in tomorrow.

Miki

PS...I almost forgot..this is an exercise thread..LOL:lol: Sooo...I'll confess...didnt do any today except walking around the mall for several hours. I'll make up for it tomorrow tho, I promise!!

wannabeslimnow! 08-03-2003 01:08 AM

Hi Miki,

Thanks! I appreciate that you've all been so welcoming. This fall, when the kids go back to school, I hope to get the videos out, in addition to the walking I already do, and I want to print out the information on www.hussman.org, and really study that. I think I can do that, although I HAVE to have some sweets, just me.

Take care,
Julie

Mindi 08-04-2003 11:00 AM

I saw the Power90 info this weekend..darned tempted! lol but I resisted!
