Chach, sorry to hear you're leaving us :( but I understand about needing a different focus right now. I actually post under this thread and also a more eating-focused one also. I joined my other group before I ever happened into this one. Anyway, drop in occasionally and say hello. We'll do the same in your thread. :)
Zanne, I've only recently gotten back into my exercise except for the walking. I have kept that up pretty good but realize I need much more than just my walks. I just cant seem to get the eating right! It's so crazy how I only manage to do one or the other most of the time.:^: Chele, welcome.:D Don't feel bad for slacking off. We've all done that many times! I got the Power Half Hour tapes, which are just a condensed version of Power 90 I think, but each one only works one body part. Anyway, I stuck with it for 4 weeks, 6 days a week, then gave up. It's a 6 week program so I only had 2 weeks left. You'd think I could have waited just 2 more little weeks, but nooo...I gave up just before finishing.:dizzy: Mindi, I am LOVING the tape you sent me!! The 30 min FLIES by!! (which is what I love about it :lol: ) My sis loves it now too. We are still just doing it on Mon, Wed, and Fridays. We walk on the other days and also on Mon, Wed, and Fri if time permits. I'm so glad you like the Power Half Hour one. The "Arms" one was my very favorite. I'm anxious to see if the "Buns" one makes you as sore as it did me. You're welcome to keep those. My sis has a set also and I only work out with her anyway. Let me know if you want to try the others. Well ladies, gotta run for now. Chele, really glad you've joined us especially since it looks like we're losing one or two of the group for now. Let's all get serious and get slim, fit and firm!! I am new to this group, but I saw that many of you are interested in Power 90 and decided to get in on the conversation. I've been doing power 90 now for about 1 month. I've only lost about 4 pounds, but I've lost 6 1/2 inches. I absolutely love power 90. I've also done Power Half Hour and Slim in 6, both from Beachbody too. I liked both of them, but I really like Tony Horton a lot. This is my first group I've joined, and I'm hoping I can get a little motivation from this group. I have only been doing workouts about 4 days a week, but I'm hoping to up that to 5 or 6 days a week. Well, I can't wait to get to know more of you better. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |

Glad to have you join us...the more the merrier! I havent tried the actual Power 90 tapes but I do have the Power Half Hour ones. I like them also. Tony is hilarious. I did them for 4 weeks, 6 days a week but am doing Tamilee Webb's "I Want that Body" for now for variety. I also walk just about every day. We started this thread originally for those using the Beachbody workout tapes but we all do those as well as others so we've been discussing changing the name of our thread. We're really here for anyone who has the same goals as we do....slimming up and getting toned with exercise and controlling our eating habits. I'm not saying we always succeed but we always TRY.;) A little about me....I turned 40 in March, have been married for 19 yrs, have 2 sons, 14 and almost 12, I work at a bank, and I want to lose at least 30 more lbs. That is my cutie pie niece Kaylen in the pic with me.( my youngest sister's daughter)( I have 3 sisters, no brothers) Mindi, hope you're feeling better today. Did the doc give you some meds to knock out that sinus infection? Looking forward to trying that Firm workout. Thanks! Chele, how was your day?? Hi girls!
Been lax posting lately. Kinda tired w/the sinus infection. Not sure if the antibotics contribute to that or not? found out my blood pressure's a little high..I had em draw blood to run a full battery of tests, sugar levels, cholestral, etc. Its time I did, I've not had this done for ages. Since my bp is high, all the more reason to work harder on getting rid of the fat and getting in shape. I'm going to try to get in some walking during lunch time at the office and then doing a shorter workout at night, I think I've been working myself too hard and on weekends I'm so tired I can barely move. Plus, I decided that my eating is the core of my problem..not that I don't eat healthy, I usually do, but I eat TOO much. My portion size is out of control and I need to address that issue as well. Glad to see all of you here, and welcome new folks! Do any of you guys have the Beachbody heart monitor? If so, do you like it and is it worth the 60 bucks? |
Hi Mindi...sorry to hear that yucky sinus infection is still hanging on. I got the other tape yesterday..thanks! I havent had a chance to check it out yet. Last nite was Josh's ( my 14 yr old, or will be Sat) first basketball game of this season. Did the other one today. Still loving it. I dont have the heart monitor you mentioned. My portions are too big also. I had chinese buffet today for lunch.:^: Buffets are a big :nono: for me. Sooo, I'm just having a salad tonite to make up for it.

Mindi, we really do need to find a new name for our group. Don't you think so? The old one is definitely misleading. We're all into motivating each other to exercise but the type or program doesnt matter, just as long as we stick with it. I will get back to Power90 for sure at some point, but for now I'm on break from it. Got any ideas for a catchy self-explanatory name??

I know it's been a while since I've posted. Life's been a bit hectic, but I'm hoping it will be a bit slower for a while.
I've got a bit more motivation this morning. Yesterday we went to cheer on my brother in the Toronto International Marathon. He did the full marathon and did it in 5 minutes faster than he predicted. On the way my DH found a brochure for another marathon in May. They have a 2km family fun run, a 10km race, a half marathon and a full marathon. DH and I are thinking of doing at least the 10km run and I'm actually thinking about the half marathon. It's just over 12 miles and I figure I can walk when I get tired. I walk a fair amount as it is and I walk a good pace, so now I'm hoping to "train" for endurance and a bit more distance. Getting back with the Power 90 program would definately help my training. I figure I can do the elliptical as well for endurance and I've been looking up stuff on the net on how to train. I think I really needed this little spark and DH said we could do the May run for our anniversary (15 years in May). It gives me something to shoot for as well as it will help me with my other goal of getting fit and healthy by my 40th in April. It'll be tough at times because winter will be here soon, but maybe that will make me a better runner. I guess that's all that's new with me. MIKI--we could keep our "POWER" in our name. We've all got the POWER to change ourselves. I know I feel like I get a bit of POWER to keep trying when I come here and read what everyone has written. How about POWER GANG or POWER UP ? Just my suggestions. And would we keep it in the EXERCISE category or move it somewhere like SUPPORT? We'll have to leave a post at the end directing everyone to where we've moved so CHACHEE and COACH and anyone else will find us. MINDI--I hope you're feeling better. your idea of doing a walk at lunchtime is a good one. I always find it better to workout earlier in the day cause otherwise I'm too pooped at night. Ok, gonna cruise the net to get some info. Talk to you all later. |
Zanne, good to hear from you! I like the idea of keeping "Power" in the name. I feel the same as you do....we all do have the 'power' to accomplish this feat and together we have even MORE "power". I know for me, 3FC has been a huge part of what I've accomplished so far. Both of the names you suggested sound great to me. You wanna start the new thread? And you're right...we cant just leave Exercise without leaving a post so everyone can find us.
Training for the marathon sounds like a great motivator for you. How cool for you and hubby to do that together. I'm sure I will eventually get back to Power Half Hour, but right now I am thoroughly enjoying the tape Mindi sent to me. Well, gotta run for now.
