River - good job on the 8 today!

+2 for me today - I don't build up much distance on the treadmill, particularly when I set it on a 9 incline and forget about it for the first mile... :)

sm177 04-26-2009 08:14 PM

shannon - that is a ridiculous incline!

5.2 miles for me. I did it with my dad, our average pace was 8:20, with our fastest split under 8 minutes! This was my dads "long run pace" hahah. It was amazing to be weeving through people and passing every runner we encountered, I'm feeling an intense need for speed. I have 5 final exams this week so I'll be taking it easy running wise, after this week I will be done my third year of university! woohooooo

Today I did 2 miles on the treadmill walk (5min)/run(1min), then I walked another 4.5 miles by the lake with my BF.

Shannon, the incline, OMG!

SM, I can totally relate to this intense need for speed- I can't wait to be where you are with your run fitness. At least 6 people passed me on my run yesterday and it drove me crazy, I need to go faster. Having lost an entire month of my 3 month half training plan is a real blow to my fitness, I'm so glad to be back running now. I've adjusted my half goal to 2:20 instead of 1:59

Speed is so relative .... I remember as a beginner runner, doing my run/walk intervals, a 12 minute mile was spectacular! I did quite a few events at that speed, and my goal was just to not finish dead last. Over time I got faster, and I remember that breaking 30 minutes in a 5K was such a thrill. Now, I regularly break 27 minutes in a 5K and ran 2:01 in a half marathon earlier this year. I would have NEVER thought I could do that. But, I also never forget what it's like to be in the back of the pack. As long as we're out there, doing our best, that's all that really counts. It's important to enjoy the process, the finish line is still there for us, and we win no matter how long it takes to get there. And no matter how fast you get, there will always be faster people than you...

I racked up a few more miles over the weekend -- 405 year to date!

Chicks, I registered for the Long Branch Half Marathon in Long Branch, NJ. I ran into a friend who is doing it also and we will drive together!!

Today I received a confirmation email for the marathon registrar and at the bottom it says...
"Remember, we believe you are all KENYANS." I love it!

ETA- 5 miles today

Well, I haven't officially committed yet, mainly cause I am a wuss, but since sm177 is thinking about one this fall, I'll try to keep her company and then build my mileage, register during a weak moment, and then not back out.

How's that for a marathon plan? :p

I keep thinking "26.2 miles is a long @#$# way to run" and then I think "I CAN do it! Why not?" So you see my dilemma! Right now, I am increasing my milage.....so I guess you could say I am doing it but I haven't told myself yet cause I don't want to scare myself off!

Mrs Snark 04-27-2009 03:55 PM

Love your plan, too funny! I'm sure you'll rock it!

river 04-27-2009 06:35 PM

 5K walk today, it's a scheduled off day but I needed to walk the pooch and sweep the cobwebs outta my glutes.

midwife 04-28-2009 08:40 AM

3.5 miles today!

Mrs Snark 04-28-2009 10:24 AM
