+12 this past friday.
trying to get some in today. I took a late train so I didn't have time to get my 5er in before work.
looking for a midday run.... will post later today also :)

dixied 03-30-2009 01:35 PM

I've been keeping my runs short, probably too short, but I've managed to get up to 165/1000. I plan to keep plugging away at it.

+2.25 on Saturday, elliptical
+4.2 Sunday, park. Short on time and not feeling great - again, I asked myself when 4 miles became a slightly disappointing number! :)

4.01 miles for me today.

SM177: did your dad run Around the Bay; that is an amazing time especially considering the weather I live in Burlington, the race goes right by my house.

sm177 03-30-2009 10:58 PM

5 miles for me.

Jackie - Yup that's the one he did! The weather was terrible, even the 1st place guy finished around 1:40 and the course record was 1:33, overall I could tell no one was pleased with their time. My dad was aiming for 2 hours even but he knew almost immediately it wasn't gonna happen. Now that I run I realize how fast he is and it seems like I have a looong way to go. Have you ever done that race? I might do it next year although I found Hamilton to be a pretty ugly town (I had never been there before), but my dad said the route had nicer areas.

Anyone want to play What's My Running Injury?

Hip (joint?, front, outside) hurts when I reach that leg forward. One side only, and usually only after I've been going for a mile or so. Happens on different surfaces (street/trail). Shoes are new/good. No pain in butt or knee. I'm a neutral runner who uses OTC orthotics for arch support, more a toe-striker than heel striker.

Thanks.

6 on Sunday, 5 today. I've finished March at 203.5 miles, which is behind the "on pace" total for 1000 this year, but now that the sun is up early and weather has turned warm I will be up for much, much more running.

JackieRn 03-31-2009 10:38 PM

10.19 miles for me today.

SM177: the conditions were horrible, I felt bad for all the runners who had set goals. I think the conditions made it unsafe for most people to set a PR this year. I've never run the race; I'm thinking about next year as well. I just moved to Burlington this month as far as I've seen, Hamilton is a bit of a rough town.

sm177 03-31-2009 11:27 PM

easy day for me, 3 miles.

Maria - I'm really not sure. Do you use orthotics on both sides? I get weird pain when I had a splint sort of thing on only one ankle. Other than that maybe rest/ask a doctor. Sorry:( I wish I had more insight

Jackie - I've never been to Burlington either, I tend to stay in my downtown bubble since neither me or my dad drive. I haven't really seen much of the GTA at all (I've been living here nearly 4 years now). Are you a nurse? I'm gonna be working full time once school is done and I stand/walk all day at my job and I was wondering if this would affect my running. I should probably clarify that I'm asking because if you're a nurse I assume you stand/move all day.

MariaMaria 04-01-2009 02:33 AM

SM-Thanks for the thoughts. I'm in orthotics on both sides--actually the side with the hip is the less orthotic-needing leg/foot overall. Now I'm wondering whether it's time to replace the orthotics, though; I've been noting the hip for around a month in my run notes. And then OTOH, before the hip started I've got something about maybe dinging that knee or groin (and how could I mistake the two? really, WTF?) at the end of a long run which was a rare downhill-when-tired day for me. (That's just the way my neighborhood is laid out-- most of my downs are mid-run.) And then it seems like a not-a-big-deal knee or groin that went away by the next day and wasn't enough to make me stop even when it happened shouldn't cause a month of hip stuff.

+5 monday
+8 tuesday

Shannon in ATL 04-01-2009 02:52 PM

+2.35 elliptical miles yesterday. The rain is killing me!

JackieRn 04-01-2009 09:39 PM

5.62 miles for me today.

SM177: I like your new avatar; thats a nice outfit. I am a nurse but not the hospital kind. I don't really work in a nursing capacity I coordinate clinical trials so mostly sitting in an office staring at a computer all day. When I did work as a nurse I mostly worked home care so I was always on the go but there were drive thrus to tempt me all the time. I find it easier to resist the treats my coworkers bring in.

midwife 04-02-2009 08:45 AM

Maria, I'm terrible with joint/musculoskeletal stuff, so I don't even want to guess. I hope it works itself out soon for you.

3 miles today.
