Jackie whatever happened to taking it slow!?

JackieRn 03-23-2009 08:53 PM

SM177: I know I'm bad, my foot feels good and I get so addicted its so hard to quit. The worst is I really thought I had this moderation thing down; I was especially impressed that I took a whole week off just to give myself a rest when I felt good enough to run. On a positive note, I'm not doing any other type of high impact cardio (no step, boot camp classes, etc) so technically my foot is not being abused as much plus I now run on an even surface and have slowed my pace quite a bit. I live in fear of a PF flare up but I wonder if I'll have the discipline to avoid one.

+8 today!

So I asked myself today when I became a person who thinks '7.5 miles just isn't enough today, I can do .5 more!'.... my family is in shock... :)

277 / 1000

I ran 6.13 miles this morning...

Does anyone have the link to that cool spreadsheet one of you posted for figuring out how far you are behind (or ahead) of the rabbit? I thought I bookmarked it, but now I can't find it!

LOL. Getting addicted to running freaks everyone out, but is soooo good! :)

3 miles today.

Shannon, I think that bucket would be fine. Use it empty for the first few times....Great job on building your mileage!

Okay, here are my latest:

Thurs:3 miles;
Fri:3.25;
Sat:3.5;
Sun:3;
Mon:3.5

That means that for 2009 I need 940.75 miles to hit 1000. I need more than 100 miles each month to hit that because I started late, but it's just a little extra challenge.

Probably silly question - I have been absolutely starving on the days after I run. Is that normal? My HRM says I'm burning in the 700-900 calorie range depending on the length and intensity of the run, so I would guess the starving makes sense! I've been trying to boost the protein so I don't snack, any other suggestions? I ate Go Lean at 3, a protein bar at 4:45 and am starving again now!

I was starving today, I ate more than I should've to compensate. Although PMS thrown into the mix doesn't help :)

I want to keep track of my running as well.
3/16 - 2 miles
3/18 - 2 miles
3/19 - 2 miles
3/22 - 2 miles
3/24 - 2 miles

10 miles total for the year.

JackieRn 03-24-2009 10:45 PM

10.49 TM miles, running while watching BL is a great way to keep motivated.

sm177 03-24-2009 11:24 PM

Jackie - as long as you feel like you have it under control. I was sooo bummed for you when you had to stop running, I'm just concerned!

4.73 miles for me. I felt so good, much less shin splint pain. It's amazing what running without pain feels like after running with pain for 2 weeks - it's like I was just gliding along! On the other hand the wind was giving me a real bargain for my money and it was making me angry almost hhahah:carrot:

I took last week off after completing my first 10K run with my DH, and my program was complete.

Started yesterday, doing a half marathon plan and yesterday's run was 3 miles. Taking that week off really affected how I felt (terrible) I don't think I'll be doing that again. Today's run 4 miles.

River -- It may not be the layoff so much - your muscles may still be tired out after your first 10K, too. It's a very temporary phenomenon, you'll bounce back before you know it!

I gave in and bought a treadmill... delivered it today. Now I just have to figure out how the heck I'm going to get it unboxed and assembled. Even with DH and I both to work on it the box is enormous!
