No running for me today. Today was my day off from running and go figure....50 degrees today! I'm sure it wouldn't have been that warm at 6am but STILL!

Getting ready for dinner and some heavy upper body weight lifting and jump roping. I am DREADING the idea of going back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. I mean REALLY dreading it.

Hey...NSV yesterday that I wanted to share. We took the kids to Philly for a model train show thing (yep...and I have 2 girls!) and on the way home DH stops at Geno's for some awesome cheese steaks and fries. I did not partake in any of the food festivities except some of the meat, onion and cheese. I am SO proud of myself because those fries looked like they were to die for. I did treat myself to an amazing decaf coffee at Starbucks afterwards though!

I did 2.5 miles today - I ran approximately 1.7 of that, started with walking 1/2 mile, running 1, running walking the second one.

I got my new running shoes on Friday and this was the first time I used them. While they were very comfortable my big toes went tingly on both feet while running. Not while walking. What does that mean?

Did six miles today even though I wasn't "feeling" into it. 20.5 miles since January 1st!

Thats when it counts the most. I find during a run like this I'm so miserable but after its over I feel so good but going through it was agony. Good for you.

Sounds like not enough room in the toe box. you'll know for sure if your toenails start to turn black.

Also, I forgot to add...a good running shoe store will size you up a good full shoe size to allow for foot swelling while running.

8.26 today... The farthest distance I've ever ran. Since I lost feeling in my legs around the 7 mile mark, I'm sure I could have gone even further LOL!

I've decided I HATE running on the treadmill, and I think I know why.

Went to the gym today to do my 6k because it was a stinking hot day, and I got up too late to run in the (relative) cool of the morning. I did it, but my walking bits were longer and I couldn't run as fast as I do when I run outdoors. I can run 5k outside, hills and all, but I was struggling with 2k before I had to take a walk break today.

So now for my theory. Ready? Here goes...

I don't like being told what to do. I've always been a bit rebellious. I've pretty much got it under control now - good thing too, as I'm nearly 40! But it caused me and my parents some grief in my teenage years.

So when I'm running outside, I tell me what to do. I decide that I'm going to run faster up this hill, or I'm going to sprint to that light post. I am totally in control, and I run further because I decide that I'm going to.

On the treadmill however, an inanimate machine is telling me how fast to move my legs. So my anarchic brain kicks in and says "I don't think so! How fast? Nope, slow down. Don't let that monster tell you what to do!"

What do you think? Possible, or way off base? If that's not it (i.e. the "totally psychological theory") then what makes it much harder for me to run on the treadmill, when the ground is moving beneath my feet for me, and there's a lovely cool air conditioner blowing in my face? And someone (something) to hold my nice cold water bottle for me.

Cheers chickies!
