Silly Butt - Yeah - I would think it is just your muscles then. If you put your foot/toes up against a wall, stair, curb...something like and lean forward (hard to explain!) you will feel that muscle stretching. When you get it right, hold the pose for at least 10 seconds! Good luck!

Barbara
- You have to let me know what you find for 5Ks in the Spring in the LaCrosse area. Even if you and I don't end up hooking up, I would love to attempt one!

Congrats Primm for entering the 5K. We are at the same place. I completed day 1, week 5 on Monday. Phew....killed me. But I'm still running for time. Tonight is day 2 and I think I'll be able to handle it. The Friday run is what is making me nervous!

I'm at the same place as JamieJo and Primm! Week 5 day 2 for me today. It was great! I was worried about it but it felt easy to me. Still nervous about Friday's run but hopefully it will go okay. Next week I'm repeating week 5 since I do each week twice, so that will give me some extra practice before getting to week 6.

It is getting COLD in the mornings when I run! This morning it was about 35 degrees out when I went. I ran with two pairs of pants, a long-sleeved top, a sweatshirt, and a hat, but I could tell this is about the lower limit of what temperatures I can stand without adding another layer. This weekend I'm going to make a visit to my local running store and try to get something warmer.

Hey Papperclippy! That's awesome that we are at the same place. I might also do week 5 over again just because it really is killing me. I am literally dripping with sweat when I was done on Monday (I run inside on a treadmill...too cold in Wisconsin for me!) Or I might do day 2 a few times before day 3. 20 mins of straight running seems a little impossible for me right now! Or I might just kick my speed down a lot. Monday I ran at 5.2MPH. So where is Carmel? I go to Camp Atterbury often which is by Columbus. Is Carmel close?

Jamie, I was totally exhausted and sweating at the end of day 1 too, but day 2 felt a lot easier to me. I think it's because there are only two running intervals instead of three. I don't think I run as fast as you though, but I haven't checked since I'm not on a treadmill.

Carmel is a suburb of Indianapolis -- I live about a half hour north (and a little bit west) of the center of downtown Indy. So it's on the other side of Indy from Columbus, but not super-far!

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to join your thread. I just found C25K, and I'm really excited about giving it a try. I am NOT a runner, but I like the idea of the challenge. I've read a few of the posts here, and it seems I'm not alone. You are all such an inspiration!

This Friday I will finish 30 days of The 30 Day Shred, so I plan on starting C25k on Monday and doing the shred on my off days. I feel a bit intimidated, but I've downloaded the week 1 podcasts, and I plan on getting some new running shoes this weekend. Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting started? Also, I'll be doing this on a treadmill, do I adjust the incline at all, or just leave it flat?

Thanks

I am doing both the 30 Day Shred and the C25K on every day - no wonder I hurt! Anyway, I got out this morning and I had a nice walk/run. Tomorrow is the end of my first week but I believe I am going to potpone it switching to Week 2 until Monday as I just started going outside and it is a lot tougher than in the gym. I mapped my route on mapmyrun.com and it was 2.5 miles so I thought that was prett good.

Robsia- Glad that your heel pain is gone. Have a great time in Paris.

JamieJo- I'll let you know when I find out about the 5k's in the LaCrosse area. I found some, but they were from last Spring.

tferg-

asparagus- I'm thinking of doing the first week over too. My days this week got all mixed up.

I finished w2d1 this evening. Just on my own, no stroller.

I also managed to get through about 15 minutes of the Shred this afternoon.

I definitely need to work on my stretching. I'm going to spend some time looking up stretches and such, and working on those each day. Probably wouldn't hurt to pull out my Callanetics DVDs either.

Congrats sillybutt! Was thinking about you when I was stretching last night! The site that the C25K is on even has some stretching information. Check it out.

So ladies...week 5 day 2 complete!!!!!!! AND D A M N! It killed me...I had to slow the treadmill down to 4.7 on the last 8 min stretch. I am in no way ready for day 3. I AM going to attempt it on Friday but I'm not going to beat myself up on that one if I have to stop. I'll just do day 2 a couple more times.

Well done JamieJo! And yeah, definitely try it and see you how you do - you may surprise yourself, even if you don't finish it!

Yay... finished it. Now on too trying to improve my 5k time. On the other hand, I realized that running during my lunch break without having deodorant on hand was a huge mistake.

Outside on trails. I actually started it a while back but found this thread on here and thought I would join. Honestly, this is my second time starting it and completing it. I stopped running after I reached it due to a move but now i am sticking to it.

What time do you complete the 5K in? Or do you not time it?

jaime, congrats on completing the C25K! That's a great accomplishment!

It's in the low 50s here today, and it's supposed to start raining at some point today. I didn't get to run this morning because I had errands to run while DD was at preschool, and I figured I would go out once DH gets home. But he's told me he has a meeting that may run late. I'm still planning to go once he gets home, unless it's a) pouring or b) dark. I'm really wanting to keep doing this every other day.

If it's not raining when DD gets up from her nap, I might bundle her up and pop her in the stroller and take her with me. We'll see.
