Cbing, I know that's frustrating as all ****. Two things: One, maybe you need to restructure your eating; if you're eating a *lot* of calories over what your body needs, maybe running has just halted a gain rather than starting you on a downward trend. Just because you haven't changed your eating from before, doesn't necessarily mean anything. It kinda depends. Were you watching your food intake in some form (points, calories, etc) before you started C25k?
And two, as frustrating as that is, try to see your success for what it is. Losing weight or not, you are working toward much better health! Can you run farther? Run faster? Then you're making progress. Just because the scale hasn't budged...it's not the only way to measure progress. Maybe you've seen Mandalinn around, her signature includes the line "We use the scale not because it is the best way to measure our progress, but because it is the easiest." Or something to that effect. Try looking at your legs. Has your muscle tone improved, even if they haven't shrunk?
There are lots of ways to make progress. Don't get discouraged!
cbing...that is me to a TEE!!! Haven't lost a pound but I can RUN like a crazy person now. I was pretty frustrated, and kind of still am, right about where you are. For crying out loud, I'm running every other day and not loosing a pound? I even did measurments before running and didn't loose an inch. I've completed C25K and started HIIT training, still no weight loss.
Then I started using fitday.com. And NOW I UNDERSTAND. I estimated I was having about 1600 calories per day this whole time when in fact it is easily over 2000 per day. I've just now started working on getting my calories down to 1500 per day but it's been a battle.
Really start measuring EVERYTHING you put into your mouth and counting calories or points. I would bet money you are doing the same thing I was.
Hi everyone! Your posts are such a motivator for me! I am ready to begin W3 but haven't ran since Monday. I hope to get back in there Saturday, and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and start W3 or do another day of W2. What do you think? W2 was a challenge but it didn't kill me, LOL.
Woopig, I would try for the next day but you really shouldn't leave more then two days in between...will just make it harder for you when you get to the longer runs....at least that is what happened when I tried to go more then 2 days without running.
I also only stick to 3 days a week for running. I have not ran since Wed and I should be running right now but I'm just too tired tonight. Work all day tomorrow and work party tomorrow night...So I need to get my run in on Sunday. Pooey...
Oh I agree with that 100%. My entire life I've tried to lose weight through exercise, which I'd much rather do over dieting. But it's never worked. Everyone is different, but for me, dieting is the only way to really drop pounds. But even without weight loss, exercise benefits you in so many other ways.

RE: 90% diet, 10% exercise. Some of us, though, are the other way around. I can cut my calories down all to ****, and yet if I'm not exercising, I don't lose weight. It's like my body doesn't take me seriously unless I kick it into gear with exercise.
I'm trying to decide...do I go out for a run for the first time ever (I'm a treadmill runner), braving dark and freezing cold and the scary "Women shouldn't go running alone at night" thing? (In the cemetery, no less. But that's the nearest expanse of open ground to run on around here.) I'd just be running so as not to have a three-day expanse between my runs open up. My gym is only open at the hours I use it on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs. So I normally do nothing on Fri-Sat-Sun, which makes it a roaring b*tch to get up and go to the gym come Monday evening.
So. Brave the dark and cold for a brief run tonight, or try my luck at going the weekend without? I think I may actually go for a run. If nothing else it'll give me a taste of what it's like to run *outside* instead of hiding in the gym like I usually do.
Ok ladies, it's getting too quiet here! Are you all taking a break and staying indoors? Brrr.
I just started W4 today and I feel like a rock star! My legs already feel a bit sore though. I'm so proud of myself for doing it--I really had doubts that I could actually do the 5 minute runs. I seemed to hit my stride about 4 minutes in and probably could have run longer at that point.
I've also stopped using the Ullrey podcast and am using my own music. Listening to my iPod is what makes working out enjoyable so I'm just writing down the walk/run times on a notecard and I keep it in front of me on the treadmill.
Hope you're all doing well--bundle up, you outside runners!
I started Week 4 for the third time this week again. It was easier as the bf has started staying over so I can just nip out for half an hour in the mornng and leave him in charge of the kidlets.
It was below freezing this morning but I was given some new cold weather running gear for Christmas which worked VERY well.
I am determined to finish Week 4 this week. Well technically I have finished Week 4 as I've done 4 days of Week 4, but two of them were four weeks ago, one was two weeks ago and one was this morning. So I think I have to count this morning's as W4D1 again!
Come on guys - get running that Christmas excess off!
Good job with week 4 Robsia! I finished my second week 9 last week which means I have now been running for 18 weeks and am done with the c25k program. I'm currently running 2.5 miles in about 31 minutes. My goal for this week is to run all three scheduled runs of 2.75 miles each, starting when I get home from work tonight.
Hey guys... I'm at W5, or I should be - I'm getting kind of stuck. For the first four weeks I ran entirely on a treadmill. It was a complete breeze. Then the other day I ran W4D3 outside and I was in agony. So I've decided I'm running only outside from now on, which makes me afraid to go on to W5, since I'm definitely not as ready as I should be.
I'm also getting kind of hung up, because I have conditioning workouts for lacrosse every other day for the next week and a half. These things are torture. I have one today, after a day off, and it still hurts to move I am so sore!
So what should I do? My current plan is to run C25K W4 again on any in between days that I feel capable and then start up W5 after conditioning and after at least 3 more days of W4 outside.
I'm so scared, though, that by letting myself take a break, I'm not going to be able to finish it! I've never stuck with any diet or exercise plan this long in my life, and I don't want to ruin it by taking a break, even a break I desperately need...
