You are right, Jo! It is one of those lessons I must relearn time and again.
Today I ran a 5k race in 29:07! My goal was less than 30 minutes, so I am happy. Then I ran 10 hill repeats this afternoon and that is hard for me to gauge the distance on.....I'll just call it rounding my 5K up to 4 miles.
That's awesome Midwife! It's one of my goals to someday be able to run a 5K in less than 30 minutes. I'm hoping that increasing my distance so much will help with the shorter races.
I did 8 hilly miles on Thursday and 16 miles today. The end of the 16 miles hurt a little, but I'm starting to feel a little better already. Everyone else is complaining the weather is getting too cold in Iowa already but I'm happy to get some good running weather!
I'm headed off to Maine this morning, be back in about a week. I'm taking my Garmin so I'll be able to track my runs while there, yay! See ya'll in about a week.

So 169.5.
You're doing great with your mileage, Jenguin!
I've kind of resigned myself to not hitting 500 miles by Christmas, but I think it is interesting to just track my mileage.
Hi chicks!!
I am going to get back to counting again. Having looked over the calendar I will conservatively guesstimate that I have done an additional 45 miles since 8/7/08.
So I'll now count myself at 263/500. And I plan on at the very least keeping record on my mobile phone even if I'm nowhere near a computer
Some of the motivating factors in my fitness have very much been record keeping and miles challenges. And I really do intend on completing 500 by Xmas. I want to be able to make that claim!!!!
4 miles tonight so I'm up to 284.04. I can't believe I'm this close to the 300 mark!
+9=293.04
Tough Run last night. It was weird because it started out a lot hotter than I thought it felt before moving and then midway through the run it got really windy. By the time I was done the weather felt like it was the perfect time to start!
Midwife - You never know - you might get really close to 500. I think that it's great to have a motivator to get yourself out there, even if 500 isn't the magic number. It's part of the reason I sign up for races - I know I'll be in trouble if I don't get some training in!
