Upper AND lower body workouts (gym will be closed tomorrow and I took yesterday off.) Today was SO WEIRD. I could NOT get my heart rate to get up and stay up. My recovery times were miraculous and I could not find a sustainable running pace that put me in my usual 155-157 range. I started out doing high-intensity intervals with real sprints in them, but when I ran out of steam for the sprints, I was literally unable to jog my way to 155. Usually I'll run for a couple of minutes at 7mph and then slowly decrease to 6.1mph with a slight incline and then hang out at that pace while maintaining the 155 heart rate. Today I couldn't stay at 155 even with an added incline and 6.5mph. It was very, very strange and quite frustrating too. I thought I might as well be walking. I doubt that I became miraculously fitter since Sunday so the only thing I can think of is that I just got my period last night and for some reason that has changed my body chemistry. What do you think? Can there be a correlation between having one's period and not being able to get one's heart rate up and staying up??? |
baffled -- I have no idea, sorry I can't answer your question... I'm sure your periods had something to do with it though...
