Carol Sue Thanks for the articles. I appreciate it and even copied links and sent them to my sisters.
I figured y'all went to the casino yesterday.
Tam Tam I wouldn't want to be out in this heat any more than I had to be either.
Well, today is my last free day. I have to be at oncology in the morning at 8:30 for lab, then see oncologist before my 1st chemo therapy. I've decided to get my mind set on the 3 and when I come home tomorrow, I will have 1 gone and 2 to go. I need to remember that this is almost over and think of it that way instead of dreading 3. I've heard of other people who have had to take more so I am so grateful to God that I don't need more.
Well ladies, I'm back after quite the hiatus. I have been sick and off work since the beginning of March, and still not 100%. After a trip to the ER, many, many pulmonary and cardiac tests, I'm still short of breath with exertion and they aren't sure what to do next. My primary doctor thinks it was covid and now i'm dealing with the after effects. I tried to go back to work, only half shifts, a few weeks ago and couldn't catch my breath after updating my CPR and walking down the hall! So, back home now for another month. Of course, with multiple meds, inhalers, breathing treatments, and the dreaded steroids, my blood sugar topped out at 432 and my A1c was 9.4! Thankfully it's coming back down now that i'm off most of that, but my FBS have been 180-220 since the beginning of the month, and my A1c last week was 8.2, so heading in the right direction. I have started back on my healthy eating to help get myself back on track, but it's been slow since it's hard to walk very far. I did start walking short distances at the park, and i'm up to .7 miles so that's something. I'm glad to be back and will try to participate. It really helps keep my mind focused.
I did read some of the thread and I can see we all have been having challenges. Praying for everyone in their individual situations.

Tam Tam I think I know where you live but don't want to say on a public forum, but I think its a hot humid southern state. When its hot here in PA they tell us older people to stay inside but we don't get as hot as other places. So be careful, for you as well as the dog. My dog likes to go in the bathroom and lay next to the air condition vent.
Trish I was thinking about your chemo tomorrow. It seems that back when this started that you told me the chemo after surgery was milder than the treatments before. I sure hope so.
We went out to eat and I got the soup and salad bar. They had Italian Wedding Soup. It was so good I had 2 cups, and just a small plate of salad.
Adrienne Maybe when your FBS comes down you will feel better. I pray so.
Carol Sue The chemo therapy before surgery and this one I will have tomorrow will be a little easier because it won't have the blood thinner in it. The last 2 will have it. I hope that now that I am eating more protein that the chemo treatments will be easier.

Yes hot and humid here in the south. We call it "Air you can wear". The dog is going home today I think, so I will be able to take longer walks in the morning. Crazy that it is almost 90 at 4:15 in the morning! Our heat indexes have been 110+. I am so thankful for an indoor job and pray for those who have to work in this unbearable heat.

I too am back after being away. I am sorry you are having such health problems. My FBS is better since I started eating healthier with my husband, he recently had a mild heart attack and had a stent put in. We are both Type 2. My A1C is better, it think it was 6.7 his is getting better also. He is down 30 pounds and I am losing much slower, but a loss is a loss.
Tam Tam Our high today will be 105 but I don't know what it feels like. The nurse asked me how I was handling the hot weather and I told her I'm doing well with it since I have to stay inside in AC. I told the nurse who asked me how I'm doing with the heat, I stay in the AC right now. I don't go around people except at drs offices because I try to stay healthy while going under chemo treatments.
momtopands I hope you are having a good day.
Carol Sue I hope you are feeling okay today. BTY did you get your new stove while I was in the hospital?
Good news. I always have lab and see the oncologist before chemo treatment. My blood count was 9.2 which means that my body is back to making its own blood. I am hoping the protein is doing that. He asked me if I am having numbness of hands and feet. I told him yes and that while I had it for years that it had gotten really bad since chemo so I only got one of the chemotherapy medications that is for ovarian cancer. Of course there is only one I couldn't take this time because it interfers with healing due to the blood thinner. Evidently the other one causes numbness of hands and feet and he said "We want to heal you not turn you into a handicap". So my treatment itself was only about an hour once they got me hooked up and ready.
Other good news. They usually plan on 6 chemo treatments. I had 4 before surgery and 1 today so the plan is for me to have 1 more in 21 days and then go on a pill that is to prevent me having cancer again. I am feeling good today. I was even hungry today. The only thing I didn't like today was that my weight was up to 2 lbs. I don't have the results of labs yet so I don't know what glucose reading was. I am hoping I can get back to doing so much more especially to walking more with my walker during the next 3 weeks. I started my r ALA while still on the other one. Tomorrow I will be strictly on the good r stabalized ALA and hope by not having the other 2 chemos especially the one that causes the neuropathyg, that it will be cleared up or at least close to 50% improved. So all in all, it has been a good day.

This will be quick. I had a bad night. I felt congested and couldn't breathe. This morning I drank hot coffee and coughed up a lot of mucus. I did a home Covid test which was negative. I feel mostly better now. If this continues I will do another Covid test.

I'm feeling much better now. Breathing is,getting back to normal.
Trish, I am so glad you only need 1 more treatment!
Adrienne, I'm so sorry to hear of all the trouble you've been having. When I have to go in for a heart cath they have to give me steroids because I am allergic to the dye. My blood sugar goes up into the 400s. On the other hand, all my gout pain went away! I hope you are feeling better soon.
Tam Tam, I wonder if your husbands weight loss is from the med he is on.
Not much happening today. Hands feeling a little better feet may take a little longer. Still have to take the old ALA today with the R-ALA, but tomorrow will be strictly the R-ALA so could start working better and faster. I slept better last night but still got up early and moved to recliner and slept some more. Still feeling sleepy but I think that is pretty much healing. I've asked DH to make me eggs, ham and toast for dinner today. Staying away from fruit at least this week and trying to eat more protein... building blood on my own. Got my test results and hemoglobin was 9.9 not 9.2. I would like it to be normal next time.
Carol Sue hope you slept well and momtopands I hope both of y'all are feeling better today.
Tam Tam I've always done low carb but the hospital doctor recommended the American Heart Diet. I do like my fruit and am missing it right now.
Carol Sue Are you still usuing MFP? I got a message they were going to charge tracking and I don't think I will use them if they do.

Trish, I dont think I have ever had my hemoglobin checked. My doctor only checks lipids and glucose,,things related to heart and diabetes. He used to do complete blood count but no more. I guess he would do it if I requested. I hope your reading go up to normal. I think there is a list of foods you can eat to raise it.
I slept a little better last night. Not great. My oxygen level was still low. This morning I had a lot of congestion and was coughing it up for a long time. Don't say consult my doctor because I won't until I have to. Stubborn.
I still use MFP but its just a habit. My calories rarely go over 1000. If they start to charge I will quit. I have entered my food for over 1200 days in a row. It is not helping me lose weight so why do it? The only thing that will help me is to be able to eat what and when I want to eat. I understand DH wants me to eat with him but under my circumstances that's not good. I can guarantee he would not eat something he did not want to eat no matter what I say. He thinks fasting leads to death. I cannot convince him otherwise. The only thing I can do is do it and show him.
Trish,I looked up MFP. There is a free version which I use and a premium version. Some things that used to be free are now only available with premium, such as scanning food labels. You can no longer do that with the free version. I never did that. I never considered MFP to be more than a guess. You can enter a food and get several different choices that are different. I also have found that restaurants like Bob Evans have made their portions smaller so the calorie counts would be lower. DH and I both commented that the baked potatoes at Texas Roadhouse are half the size they used to be and so is the onion blossom appetizer. I dont even know if the restaurants ever change the numbers on their website.

I'm feeling better today. I'm breathing better even though I still have some congestion. I slept off and on all day yesterday. 12+ hours! Last night when I went to bed I had a lot of congestion and coughing. I didn't want to keep DH awake so I came out to my recliner and watched tv til I felt better around 2 AM. I got up around 8:30 feeling better. Not perfect, but much better. I'm still thinking this might be Covid or something similar because this morning the food I ate had no taste. Like sawdust. I'm breathing much better now but it always, gets worse at night.
Carol Sue I am so glad you are feeling better. Rest is healing so hopefully you will heal nicely.
I slept good last night too. I finally got up about 8:45 and dressed to come sit in my recliner. Something I am taking is making me pee more so hopefully the fluid is finally coming off. The surgeon said that it would come off. I read somewhere that the combination of ALA, B1, B6 and B12 would help get the fluid off and I am taking that combo using the R-ALA. DH found the little water pitcher I brought home from the hospital where I had surgery and he puts my water in it with a straw so I am back to drinking water. So hopefully the swelling is being flushed out. Hands still feel cold but I think they are not as numb as they were but I know that will take a while to heal.
We are having pork chops today. I'm back to eating a small salad with my meal again. I think we have some corn on the cob in freezer that I would like to have with it.
Hope everybody is feeling better and y'all have a super Sunday.
