I am feeling better as the day goes on but tonight will tell. I am helping cook dinner. I cooked the meat but DH wants, fried potatoes so he will cook them. I dont like to cook with hot oil. I might cook green beans too.

You seem to be doing well after this chemo, Trish. I hope I didn't jinx it by saying that. Good thing we have our recliners!

My dinner tasted great so I don't know what happened this morning with breakfast.

Carol Sue So glad your taste was good at dinner time.

I've had a good day too. I ate good and hope I will keep eating good. I hope we will have a good nights sleep.

I slept for 3 1/2 hours. After I went to the bathroom I could not fall back to sleep.. I'm so hot. Its only 70 degrees outside so the air condition won't come on. I have the back door open but not the front. With both doors open we get a breeze. I will probably take a nap today.

We have to go to Walmart. DH has had no bread for 3 days. He goes to stores to play the lottery but won't buy bread. He likes Wal-Mart bread. He won't go there without me. I don't know what he will do if I'm gone. Probably go back to eating donuts and French fries. I tell him to eat my SL bread but he won't. I buy white so its the same as his bread except smaller.

I'm glad you are eating healthy Trish. You're doing great! Have you been checking blood sugar?

Default Yes and No

Tam Tam, I wonder if your husbands weight loss is from the med he is on.[/QUOTE]

Yes and no. He is on Mounjano, which does suppress the appetite, but since his heart attack, he is VERY diligent about his eating, no friend foods, no sweets except for fruit, no bread - it's a waste for us to buy bread, with just two of us it goes bad before we can finish it, we are using Parish Rice, which has fiber and protein and does not raise our blood sugars, he made a shrimp/okra gumbo yesterday, so we will have that with the rice.

I wish we had Parish Rice in my area. I could buy it on Amazon. I love rice but don't eat much of it.

We went out for breakfast, tnen to Walmart, then to Goodwill. We only needed a few things.

Tam Tam Your shrimp/okra gumbo sounds so good but my DH wouldn't eat it because he doesn't like okra and wonders how I could eat it. He is like Carol Sue's Hubby a picky eater.

Carol Sue Sorry you didn't sleep well. I called DH once before he went to bed to help me go potty and then he helped me get back in bed and I slept through till after 7 am. I had to wake him to get me up so I just had him help me dress and help me get settled in the living room in my recliner because I knew I could sleep in the recliner without getting him up and he could go back to bed and sleep until he wakes up. He is still sleeping now at noon. I hope he sleeps longer. I can't get in and out of bed by myself, but I can get in and out of recliner and I can usually get on and off toilet in guest bathroom but can't do that on our master bath even with the special seat. I take my cell phone with me to guest bath room so that if I do need DH I can call him on the house phone. He has me on a special ring and it says my name so he knows it is me and I need him.

Not sure what we are going to eat today. We have a lot to choose from and he likes for us to decide the night before, but nothing sounded good last night. I need to get back to eating low carb but DH doesn't understand that. I finally got the test results of glucose reading from lab tests Friday. I knew it was going to be high after the way they fed me in the hospital and it was. It was 216. I'm not sure what that is as A1c but I know it is way to high for me. I think I need to get back to fasting. I like being able to eat foods I like as long as I fast. I will have to decide the best way for me to go.

I wonder how Mad is doing on her trip. I miss her when she isn't around to check in some.

Have a nice day everyone.

Okra is probably the only vegetable I won't eat. We are having grilled chicken tenderloins, with mashed potatoes and a vegetable tonight.

I'm surprised that your FBG was so high Trish because it was always so good. But so much has been going on for you so its no surprise. A1c is over 3 months so that day might have been a fluke. So many things effect blood glucose, such as the surgery you had and the various meds you've taken. Maybe you should start checking it again. You will probably get it back in line in no time. When I was having blood sugars in that range my A1c was around 7.

By the way, I had a Halls menthol cough drop and all my congestion is gone, but now I'm sneezing like crazy!

My dinner turned out great. I sprinkled the chicken tenderloins with garlic salt and cooked them on my grill pan. DH made the mashed potatoes and I had peas. DH waited til I told him dinner was ready! Ha ha. I was surprised how much he ate.

I still feel good. I'm going to make sure I have cough drops in my purse if I get congested again. Thats an inexpensive remedy.

Not much sleep again last night. Nights are the hardest. I start to feel better through the day but get worse overnight. I'm no longer having trouble breathing but I still have some congestion. My oxygen is still lower than it should be. Getting better little by little.

Our cable/internet was out when we got up and has been going in and out all morning. We can see the guy out there on the pole. We don't lose WiFi very often.

When I went to Wal-Mart I bought some Progresso wedding soup to try. DH won't eat it. I can only get it at 2 restaurants and one of them only has it on Thursday. My life has changed so much since marrying DH. Sometimes good, sometimes not.

Carol Sue I pray your congestion will go away soon and you will feel better. Hope your cable is fixed pretty quickly too.

I agree with you that I too eat a lot different than I ate before I married DH. I ate pretty healthy when I married him but somewhere along the way I ended up eating the way he does.

I was sick last night. I had constipation. Then suddenly threw up and I lost everything I had eaten. I've gone to the hospital before when I had that problem, but I told DH I was not going. I have 4 pills that I have to take one a night before bed when I have chemo treatment. I am supposed to take one a night for 4 nights. Some times it makes me nauseated. I had no problem with it the first 3 nights but my stomach didn't like it last night. I decided to take some Miralax and relaxed as best as I could because I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to throw up again. I fell asleep in my recliner and was able to go to bed when I woke up. I think it is rare for Miralax to work so quick but I finally was able to get some relief from the Miralax and go to bed around 3.

I slept through until I woke up around 7 am and needed to go to the bathroom so I dressed and went to potty again and feel good today. One doctor in the hospital when I was first diagnosed told me to drink Miralax 2X a day unless I had diarrhea. I think maybe I need to be eating the fruit to stay regular and maybe drink Miralax once a day. This is another reason why I probably should not do low carb. I will have to think about that one.

Not sure when we will eat dinner today because DH said he has to go to 5 places today, but I know we will be eating sweet 'n sour chicken and an egg roll from the Chinese place since he is going to Sam's and will be across the street from them. It doesn't matter to me because I'm tired of takeout meals. I am so ready to get back to cooking our meals.

Hope everybody has a good day.

I love Chinese and would love to have sweet and sour chicken and an egg toll but DH won't eat it. I like it with white rice so its best if I don't eat it. When we used to go to the mall and McDonalds was in the food court DH would get McDonalds and I would go to the Asian booth. They move McDonalds out to the highway where they get more business. We have a few Asian restaurants here but they don't get much business.

DH wants to go to the casino today. This will be a test of how well I feel. So far so good.

Carol Sue Hope you did good if y'all went to the casino and I hope you don't get sick.

I've had a pretty good day. I was more careful not to overeat. Hoping we both sleep good tonight.

We had a very good night at the casino but didn't get home until 2 am. I was too keyed up and didn't go to bed until 4am and now we're up at 9 am and DH wants breakfast at Bob Evans. He can't wait to start spending our winnings.

I felt good at the casino and overnight but now I'm coughing with a bit of congestion.

I'm glad to hear you had a good day, too, Trish. This is so different from your other chemo sessions. Thats a good sign.

I got a message that there's a prescription waiting at Wal-Mart so we will go there after Bob Evans.

Carol Sue I'm glad y'all had a good time at the casino. I'm thinking your congestion might be an allergy you have to something between the casino and your home because you had the same reaction last week. I'm just glad you didn't have breathing problems this time. I hope the congestion doesn't hang on too long. When I lived below Houston many years ago when DH#2 was living, every time I came to Central TX to visit my family, I went home sick with an allergy. So you might watch and see if there is a connection.

Not much happening right now. I'm trying to stop taking any pain meds except for Tylenol with my sleeping pill before I go to bed. I want to get that stuff out of my system hoping that I will become stronger. I am having less problems with this chemo treatment because he only gave me one of the chemo meds. I'm not sure what he will prescibe next time. I want to build myself up as much as possible this time hoping I will be ready for the next one. This is Day 6 of this 21 day chemo cycle so I'm putting fruit back into my woe. I've also decided to go to 8 hr eating window. I would like to do 5 or 6 hr window but think I need to do it this way for now at least until I am able to prepare my own food.

I've been hungry for beans which are good for building good blood as well as other things. The only thing DH likes is Great Northern or butter beans so I'm sure we will have Great Northern with ham chunks in it. Today he is going to learn how to cook cornbread from a package he found in the cabinet. I will teach him the little tricks I picked up from DH#2's Grandfather and my BIL. Every time they had a dinner at church it was the hit of the dinner they always asked me to bring. Pop made red stew/soup and cornbread everyday and he always took a little butter and melted it in his pan to swish around the pan while mixing cornbread mix and then he mixed it into the batter before pouring it into the pan and cooked. DBIL always took a little bit of butter on a knife (I use a brush) and while the cornbread was still hot in the pan, he would cover the top of the cornbread with the butter before he cut it into slices. I know, a lot of fat but it is so good. I love cornbread with beans or soup. A lot of people like it with just sweet milk but that is a new habit I don't need to start.

Have a nice day everybody.

Trish, there is a woman on the low carb forum who lives in either North or South Carolina and she often mentions having beans and corn bread. That is a southern thing and not heard of much up north. My step daughter loves cornbread. I found a recipe for a super rich cornbread and I made it and it was outstanding. I can't remember what all was in it but I know it had corn in it. Naturally DH doesnt eat it.

I have had congestion and coughing for years. My doctor was never able to find a cause. It could be an allergy but no allergy meds ever helped. I started taking Nac which I read about online and it helps some. But this time it was very heavy congestion that I could feel in my chest. It gets a little better every day.

The beans were under cooked but that didn't stop us from overeating them. I also went more of 10 hr eating window because DH slept late. I am getting sleepy already.

Carol Sue I hope you will be able to sleep good with little to no congestion.

Good night.
