Hi friends: Home from the cottage. I just managed a 22 hour fast, aka OMAD today. I am finally also doing Keto today. I have not yet stepped on the scale. I feel fat.
Maybe tomorrow. I think I will weigh same as Carol. We can lose together.

Hope everything keeps going well for you both. Some days better than other.

Have a good day.

Fatmad, Congratulations on the OMAD and getting on Keto. I will be glad when I can get back on keto or low carb. Right now I am eating whatever DH is able to cook.

Carol Sue, One thing I've learned about you and me is that we both like to understand what is going on and how it works. So that is why I explained it as they explain it to me. Hope your casino day will be good.

This is day 3 of my 15 low immunity days and I am doing so much better than I have after the other infusions. I believe the last blood infusion is what made the difference. While I hope I will be able to have surgery next, I am willing to do whatever they decide.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Mad. Glad to hear you are still fasting successfully. I am not in losing mode right now so we won't be the same for now. From my balance beam scale it looks like I am still around 180 but I haven't been on my electronic scale to give me an actual number.

I might be in the market for a new stove. I looked at them online yesterday at the 3 local big box stores and it seems the one I want is out of stock everywhere. We might go look today. If I can see one on display to be sure I can order it online but it won't be delivered until June. Mine is still working. Last time I bought top of the line and wasn't really happy. It doesn't bake well. So this time I want a plain old ordinary one without the bells and whistles.

Hope you are feeling well, Trish.

We looked but haven't made a final decision. DH won't let me get the one I want because its too basic. It's out of stock anyway. Its between 2, one is self clean and the other is not. I would take the manual clean but they are out of stock too. We will probably go back tomorrow and order it. I was so ooo tired from shopping!

Carol Sue I hope you wil be able to get the stove you want.

Didn't go for CT scan today because insurance hasn't approved it yet so rescheduled for Monday at 10:15 am. It is good that I didn't have to go because this is Day 4 of this round of chemo and I am having potty issues. Thank God for changing it.

DBIL dug out his wheelchair he bought at Goodwill when he shattered his foot. He is going to bring it so I can use it when I go places that doesn't have wheelchairs. Now we need to get our car fixed or at least know what the problem is.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Trish, we also have a wheel chair that we bought at Goodwill. We never needed it but this was back when we were both having various medical problems and I thought we might need it someday but have to pay full price. I have a silver walker that was his mothers Medicare gave it to her but she never used it. DH tried to use it when he broke his hip but it would not adjust high enough for him. Medicare gave him one. Then I bought another one at Goodwill with a seat but never used it either. Better to have it and not need it.

I guess its a good thing the CT scan is rescheduled. I hope you get the car fixed.

Does anyone remember how I've discussed when I eat pasta and my blood sugar stays good for hours but then spikes? Well I had spaghetti with meat sauce at 4 pm. And a roll. Afterwards I took 2 mg G and a Metformin. Checked blood sugar at 8 pm and it was 80! Now I'm going to continue checking to see if it spikes. For me a spike is a rapid rise to 200+. I have searched and searched the internet about this to no avail until now. I found a discussion where an insulin dependant type 1 has the same issue. They told him that the pasta is being digested and absorbed very slowly. They advised him to take a smaller amount of insulin when he eats and a larger amount later when his blood sugar starts to rise. If I end up getting a high spike later tonight I might consider a similar approach. My problem is I am now realizing that blood sugar strongly affects my sleep. Higher blood sugar is very sleep disruptive. I am trying to prevent any significant rise at all.

Funny, but I just saw a news report on tv that hundreds of pounds of cooked pasta were found dumped in the woods in NJ. What's worse, no wildlife was eating it. They have no idea who did this or why. Strange!

Ok. By the time I went to bed at 10 my blood sugar was up to 181. 7 hours after eating pasta. I took more G and woke up at 117. I understand that I should not be eating pasta. But apparently the meds are doing nothing. On the other hand, if I ate no carbs I would probably not need meds. I just don't understand this. Knowing that pasta, spikes me 4+ hours later should I be waiting 4 hours to take the meds? If I went according to what I was taught, I would test at 2 hours and say "Pasta does not raise my blood sugar." Who remembers being told that? I like to understand the why of things.

Also, G increases insulin, and insulin promotes fat storage. I have never actually gained weight from G but its possible that its preventing me from losing. MFP constantly tells me I will be 173 in 5 weeks but it doesn't happen. This tells me I need to keep carbs lower so I can cut back on G permanently.

Trish, I seem to remember you saying your DH lost weight after he stopped taking G.

Carol Sue, I can''t remember how the G affected DH weight.

I am so sleepy today. DH tried to get me up to go to potty when he came to bed like he usually does and I have no idea what went wrong but I ended up sliding out of bed on to the floor and had to call EMTs to come get me off the floor so I could walk to the bathroom. That is so embarrassing. I've got to figure out why my foot slipped out from under me. I didn't fall, just slipped. I hope I don't have to start sleeping in my chair round the clock. Otherwise, everything else is fine.

Have a nice Sunday everybody.

Trish, I'm so sorry you had to call EMTs again but I'm glad they are available to help you and so glad you didn't get hurt. Eventually you will get your strength back and be back to normal.

I'm baking cookies today. I made the dough for apricot cookies and its refrigerated for baking tomorrow. I made 4 dozen chocolate chips and want to make white chocolate chips too since DIL cannot eat chocolate unless its white chocolate.

Overnight I changed my mind about the new stove. I was going to just use this one til it breaks but DH said if I do that I will be rushed to buy a new one and might not get the one I want. So we went today and ordered it. It won't come until June 10 but I do have a working stove.

DH went to get chicken nuggets for dinner. I feel bad for him that he doesn't get a cooked meal but he is so picky and says no to anything I suggest. Plus I'm baking and want to keep going since I feel good.

Carol Sue Glad you ordered the stove you want. Your cookies sound good.

DS and I talked and realized that my immune system is so low at this time and I probably am dehydrated since my mouth was so dry after EMTs left. I have to be sure and stay hydrated especially since this seems to be a day similaor to yesterday. But then it seems that days 4 & 5 of chemo roundare usually my bad days. This too shall pass. I just pray it is over and I'm okay by CT scan Monday.

Trish I hope you do stay hydrated. Every time I go to the ER they say I am dehydrated and put me on an IV of saline. I know I don't drink enough.

I am very tired from baking today. I might bake again tomorrow. Its a lot of standing.

I forgot that the paper work told me to use anti-diarrhea medicine at first sign on loose bowels. I took it and I seem to be better.

Trish, if you have been having loose bowels that could be contributing to the dry mouth and dehydration, and also making you weak. Your body is really going through a lot. I'm glad you're feeling better.

On my balance beat scale it looks like I'm below 180 but I can't bear to see the number just yet.

I had a terrible night. I think I picked at so much cookie dough yesterday I had myself over sugared. I tossed and turned all night. Sugar is poison but my family sure loves the cookies! I had 2 trays that didn't turn out, too flat and not pretty, so DH gets to eat those. Ha Ha.

My legs hurt and I hope its just from standing all day baking. I'm not making the apricot cookies til tomorrow because DH wants to go to the casino tonight. I don't want to go after standing baking all day.

Had a good short visit with DS and her DH. DS brought me some drinks that have no sugar or sodium in them. I have the wheelchair to use to go to the doctor Wednesday and use when DH son and family are here. I've had a pretty good day.

Carol Sue, I hope you will be okay especially if you go to casino.
