Just checking in. Not much happening here today. DH got the part for the car and it was the wrong one so had to send it back and order a different one. It won't be here until Thursday. Finally getting my butterfly shrimp for dinner today. Hope they will be as good as I think they will. Sometimes with chemo it doesn't taste as good. Nurse at oncology asked me if the cantaloupe tastes good because sometimes it isn't ripe. I told her since I'm doing chemo that it tastes really good to me.
I had too much sodium yesterday and my legs and feet were terribly swelled last night but better today. That one strong chemo that has blood thinner has side effect of bleeding. I was passing blood yesterday and last night I think from a hemarroid. I was beginning to worry about it, but thankfully it seems to have finally stopped. Thank God I don't get this one next time.
Carol Sue I'm sorry you are resting good. I was surprised your DH didn't want to go to casino yesterday or today. He may decide to go in the next day or so.

I spoke too soon and I'm sitting in the food court at the casino. He said today or Thursday so I picked today..
Trish I hope the bleeding isn't anything to worry about.

Well, DH won $700 so I guess Tuesday is a good day for him. They gave me $20 free play so I played that and won $90 so that's all I played, none of my own money. So we brought $800 home. Its not a lot but we came out ahead so I'm happy.

I slept so good last night! Other than blood sugar and fasting I don't know what makes the difference.
I'm craving ribs. I'd like to go to Texas Roadhouse. I would learn to cook them at home but DH doesn't like them. At home I could better control the sauce.
Its,been really cold the past couple days. Sunny and warmer the next few. This is April in Pennsylvania.
HI all: just getting through my day. I have been fasting today and plan to fast overnight. DH left this am for the cottage taking a big load of stuff up there. He will be back in a few days, so this is the perfect time to fast. No cooking in the house to tempt me.
I plan to have broth later for "supper". I had some salt under the tongue and a couple of swigs of pickle juice to help me along today.
Tomorrow I will go to see younger DD, an hour away, take the dog and go for a walk with her. Will may a plan about going to the cottage for the weekend of the 30th, one of my dear friends who lives there passed away after living with terminal cancer for 3 years. It was expected, but there will be a big celebration of her life on the 30th and I will be there with bells on for her.
And of course, that makes me think of you Trish. For many, they can get rid of their cancer, but others live with it for a long time, sometimes they die of something else. My Uncle has had prostate cancer for several years now. Its slow growing, and into his 80s, its more likely he will die of old age related things before the cancer gets him.
So my thoughts and prayers for you are to keep healthy in the way that works for you, and hope you have many good years yet to come.
Carol: best wishes at the casino, I can't read too much of your posts right now because you talk about food and that will affect my fasting. I have little willpower, LOL.
Pipsicle, I hope you are well too.
I have not been successful in shedding my weight gain yet. One thing is limited exercise. I bruised my foot a couple of weeks ago. The X-rays did not show any breaks, so its just a bad bruise, but still sore. Until recently I could not wear shoes at all. Its not terribly swollen, but of course shoes press on the top of the foot where the bruise is. Its finally healing, and I have been able to wear boots a bit, for a short walk. So I have extra help walking Buddy, and take him for short jaunts. I am hoping that getting back to fasting and exercise will help with the weight and I will get back to normal.
Carol Sue Guess we know where you will be most Tuesdays. At least you can kind of plan around it. You are wise not to use your own money when you can.
Fatmad Alwasy good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you had some foot problems. I still have swelling problems which I hope won't be as bad this next time. I try to eat so that it won't be so bad, but it is still difficult.
I have lab draw that I always have on day11 after infusion. I want to work at changing somethings after my blood draw hoping that I can get rid of some swelling/bloating and hopefully move around more.

Mad, I don't have a lot going on in my life so eating is all I have to talk about! Sorry!
DH agreed to Texas Roadhouse. I order the rib appetizer with broccoli. It is 4 ribs and I ate 2 and brought 2 home. Perfect for me. I also ate a piece of DHs baked potato.
Trish, I hope your swelling continues to come down.

Good morning. No scale. I won't get on until I feel thin.
Plan for today is cleaning.

Cleaned the bathroom, paid the bills, washed a load of towels. Will probably do whites, too.
I have an old pair of Sketches slip on sneakers that I wear around house as slippers. I threw them into the washer with the towels to freshen them up and they cleaned up so nicely! They look like new! I think I could wewar them out to the store, etc. They are sitting out in the sun to dry.

Carol Sue, I have a new pair of sketchers that I can't wear but I do look forward to wearing them when this is over. I've heard they are excellent shoes.
I wondered why I've been feeling so strange and not bouncing back like I should and I found out why today. I need another pint of blood. I will get it next Wednesday morning. I have to go Tuesday to have a cross typing and be there at 8 am Wednesday for the transfusion. I also started taking the antibiotic again today.
While waiting for the oncology to reopen so I could get my medicine for next chemotherapy, I met a lady who had ovarian cancer. She said she hasn't had her ovaries in 11 yrs and then she found out she had ovarian cancer. She had chemo and then she is now on the harmone that is to keep it from coming back. I told her that I have 1 more chemo treatment and then hopefully will have surgery and I hope that I can take the harmone. She seemed to think I would be able to. She said she is a rare case and she has had it twice. I sure pray that once I am over this that I will never have it again.

Trish, I got my first pair of Sketchers many years ago. I liked them because of the S on the side of them. My last name starts with an S so I said they were monogrammed. When I was having all that pain in my feet Sketchers were the only shoes that were comfortable for me so I bought several pairs of them. They wear like iron and last forever it seems. I am very happy with them.
I hope and pray that you will feel better after the transfusion. This has been such a long, hard haul.
Trish: I am so glad they have good treatments for you. Ovarian is a hard cancer to diagnose. That was a concern, especially of many friends when I had the abdominal pain 5 years ago. We had a nursing colleague with it, and the symptoms can be so vague.... I am relieved you got a diagnosis and treatment.
In other news, I did it! made it to 42 hours. I went to see DD today and we had a walk with our dogs then I took her to lunch. She wants to come to the cottage with us next week I think, it will be nice to drive with her. I also did not finish lunch, and really have a full meal leftover for another day. I had pad thai, and not sure if it was the generous portion or past fast, but I ate less than half. So although the rice noodles are full of carbs, the smallish portion should help. I am not sure about supper now that I am home. Still very full, and I am utterly exhausted. Will try to nap, (rarely works) but a short quiet time may help. I hate this fatigue.
SO: I was 178 and waist measured 37.5 inches on Monday. Just putting that out there. I plan to weight again on Monday. I would like to switch it up to a different day of the week eventually, but it will do for now.
I had some bowel issues today, so may have had some cross contamination yesterday with the pad thai. Which is a drag, because that chain is generally really good about gluten free stuff and has a good menu for me. That, or the fast the previous day did me in. Lots of pain and some diarrhea. I am fasting today again, partly because of the pain, just leaving me not wanting food at all.
Goal will be to eat lower carb for the next while, but we will see how I am doing.

Mad, congratulations on the long fast! I knew you would get back to it.
FOOD ALERT
I have been craving spaghetti for a while and DH never wants it, so I bought a box of the Kraft Spaghetti dinner and made it for myself. Ordering it in a restaurant is $12 or more and not worth it to me. This Kraft dinner was acceptable and I could eat it again. I really think he should eat it since I go to the casino with him. Its not that he doesn't like it but it's not a favorite and he would prefer something else. When the kids were here they loved it and I made it often. He always ate it but maybe he got tired of it.
Carol Sue I have been hungry for spaghetti myself but DH doesn't think he knows how to cook it. I guess that is one of those things I will have when I can stand and cook again. I actually look forward to being able to cook again.
Fatmad Congratulations! You always do good with your fasting. Sorry about the stomach issues and hope you feel better for your trip to the cottage.
I am blessed to have the wonderful Christian oncologist that I have. He is my BIL doctor who keeps an eye on him because of a place on his asaphagus. The day we got the news that I might have cancer when I was in the hospital, my BIL told me his name and said "that is who you need to see". The amazing thing was the next day, he was the oncologist who came and introduced himself to me and said he would be treating me. I told him who my BIL is and that he had just told me about him the day before. I love that not only is he a Christian but the whole atmosphere is Christian. When I told him I am a young 79 year old and not to treat me like an old 79 and that while they are looking for remission that I am praying for cancer free, I loved it when he said, "Good keep praying". No where do I ever feel like anything negative and since I'm not a negative person, that means a whole lot to me. I feel like I have an awesome support system every where I have had to go for treatment. Even at the hospital, it was originally a Catholic hospital and I am happy that they have never lost their Christ-like loving attitude.
I am glad he ordered the antibiotic again this time. I have to get up earlier than I want to because I wake up with wheezing and have to come sit and sleep in my recliner. I listen or sometimes sleep while listening to healing scriptures. Although I am having some difficulty moving around and thankfully know it is due to needing the blood transfusion, I have decided to keep moving around a little more each day. I have to use my walker and believe that even if it is just walking to the front door back to my recliner throughout the day, it is a way to try to get my legs stronger and hopefully keep some of the swelling down.
The lady I met yesterday said that after she had her heart surgery they told her not to exercise, but she had a treadmill and she would walk very slowly for 1 minute each day until she could do 2 minutes and she has slowly gotten up 3 mile per hr. She said they told her she wasn't supposed to do that but since it was working for then keep doing it. I think she was right. I have to admit I don't always feel like walking or even want to, but I also believe it is important enough to force myself to do it. You know the old saying, "Don't use it lose".

Trish, I'm so glad you have such a caring doctor. They have your best interest at heart. When this is over you will be cancer free and will finish out your life until God is ready for you.
And you DH is doing such a good job taking care of you. Bless him.
I wouldn't be trying to do much at least until after the blood transfusion. You can build up your strength later when you start feeling better. Just rest now, and only do the walking that you're able to do now.
Carol Sue I've had a pretty goood day. I hope I will rest good tonight. I'm just doing what I can do. I think it will help keep the swelling down some too. I ate ltoo much but I did keep it fairly low carb. I will try to keep doing that at least till after blood transfusion.
