Hi there . . . . . . it is morning . . . but enough about that. My BGL is okay at 5.1 (92). Kittens are being pretty good . . . so far, but it is early.

Have a great day, gang and I'll hopefully see you all a little later . . .

I got my labs back and my A1C is at 7.4 , I actually thought it was going to be worse than that because I was spiking over 200 most days after my med (prandin) wore off. Doc switched me to metformin 2 weeks ago and I think it is working out well. I dont feel like I am crashing like I use to feel when I took prandin. I have some work to do, I want to get it down to at or below 6.5. but I am a far cry from the A1Cs of 12 I use to get 5 years ago. Everything else in my labs is perfectly normal.

Hi gang . . .

Wow, I'm running really late again today . . . it's afternoon already . . . at least it's the afternoon of another gorgeous day . . . we have nice seasonal temperatures -- mid 20's C (mid 70's F); really comfy humidity levels; and . It doesn't get any better than this (at least by my standards). My BGL was a very happy 5.6 (101) before breakfast this morning. AND . . . no kitten problems . . . YET. Hopefully all this good stuff will continue.

Here's an interesting little article from Prevention Magazine that I thought you might like to read even though it is not aimed at diabetics in particular. Very good angle on the need to tailor your "plan" to suit your own needs rather than trying to follow a particular regimen to the letter. I know that is waht works best for me, anyway.

Well, I'd better get myself moving and shaking, gang . . . Hope everybody is having a great day so far . . . see you later . . .

Morning All. Still gloomy and raining here in NY. The meteorologists say the weather should be getting warm again soon. I'm not looking forward to that, just to a little sunshine. I suffer from S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and although I love the fall and winter I cant handle its side effects.

My sugar was 116 this morning. I'm not sure about the accuracy of these machines because the morning I had my blood levels tested at the lab my sugar was 117 at home but 105 at the lab. Does this mean the machines are not accurate?

Meowee - Glad to hear the kitties are doing better. Wish I could say the same for Sacha. Its been over three weeks since he was blocked and he's still not urinating a steady stream.

Akrosey-Hope you feel better soon. I feel sore and stiff just when I trip and almost fall. Guess that's from all the twisting and turning I do to try and catch the fall. I'm such a clumpsy little thing!

Jeanne - Hope your tooth feels better. Make sure to have it looked at soon.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I bought an extra blood meter to keep at my office, when I bought it I had it next to my other one - I tested my blood on both meters at the same time (from the same bloodsample) one meter was 6.6 the other was 6.9

The tech for my blood meter said that levels shouldn't be tested back-to-back because blood levels spike after its drawn. Not sure if that's true or not but it was his response to my complaint that I tested my sugar three times in a row and got different results.

Hi gang . . .

Another gorgeous day . . . but I spent way too much of it at the Dentist and then way too much more of it feeling kind of yucky because of being to the Dentist. Cannot think of anywhere else that we can spend so much money for so much pain and then say thank you as we leave the office.

BGL was 4.7 (85) before breakfast. Haven't checked it since and may not. It never likes the trip to the dentist either.

So far another okay day with the kittens. Yesterday finished up rotten in that department . . . I think Frick hates litter in general . . . I was donwstairs cleaning the pans; along comes little Miss Pissy kitty; sniffs every pan (they were all nice and clean by then); and squats on the floor beside the pans. Trust me, she finished in the pan but definitely not of her own choosing.

JEANNE . . . time for you to get to the dentist, too . . . misery loves company, as they say.

ROSEY . . . take care; hope you feel better really soon. Good luck to Daisy for her surgery.

BELLA . . . I think BG metres are a lot like scales . . . no two will every read exactly the same and never be quite as accurate as the lab test either . . . one of those places were "close" is good and consistency is important. I know my DEC likes to test with my metre very close to the same time as I'm having the lab tests just to ensure that they are "reasonably close".

Hi THIN . . . hope your daughter is still loving her room.

Well, guess I'd better get something done. Have a great evening and I'll see you all tomorrow. . .

WooHoo that's what I wanted to hear.

The cake decorating sounded like fun too, does she do it for a living?
