Hi gang . . .

Unfortunately our weather is still a little "iffy" and I'm still a little headachey to go with it.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day in bed -- although in the guest room mostly since "somebody" (and this time I do not know which cat did it) urinated on my bed and after a good scrubbing, it took most of the day for the mattress to dry out. So, about the only other thing I did, besides nursing the head, was a bunch of laundry. I'm hoping things settle down after they've had a couple of weeks to completely heal from their little surgeries. This is definitely becoming tiresome.

At least my BGL is staying fairly stable . . . 4.6 (83) this morning before breakfast. Actually a little surprising because usually if I don't feel well, it is a bit high.

Just wanted to give you a couple of links to some little blurbs on a couple of the more dangerous highs that strike diabetics from time to time.

First of all is 'hyperosmolar coma' . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...0c8ae9679d&p=2

And then, this one about 'ketoacidosis' which is definitely more likely for type 1 . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...2-7f0c8ae9679d

Have a great rest of the weekend, gang . . . see you soon. . .

Gosh Meowee, those cat of yours are trouble with a capital T. It's like they have to be supervised all the time or they do this peeing/destructive stuff. Have you considered containing them to a certain room at night or when you're out?

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying your weekend - I finished my daughter's room, my hubby is just putting up a new light this morning and we are done! She comes home tonight around dinner time from her Dad's, I know she'll be surprised - but will she LOVE IT? or HATE IT? LOL

I went out for dinner last night to a terrible restaurant in Toronto (Captain John's Seafood) it was just awful, poor poor quality food - gross really. We left hungry and I had a nofat/sugar free vanilla cappucino and a biscotti at a coffee house to fill me up. THe cappucino was awesome, the biscotti too - I know I shouldn't have had it, but I just needed something really nice to get me over the bad restaurant experience.

Hey everyone!

My birthday was two days ago and I celebrated with Japanese food, black forest cake, and beer. I didn't get drunk, though... just had a couple beers and that's it. However, I DID overeat (around 2,400 calories) and felt like CRAP in the evening, plus my blood sugars were high. I guess overeating is not as much fun when you're out of practice. - I'm glad for that, though... I won't be overeating again for awhile.

Thin - the room looks amazingly awesome! You'll have to let us know whether she likes it or not... I don't see why she won't ,though. Don't feel guilty about the cappuccino and the biscotti - you COULD have gotten a FRAPPUCCINO and a piece of CAKE! You did well.

meowee - interesting links... I've never heard of hypersomolar coma before, but DKA happened to me once or twice... most people with type 1 are in DKA upon diagnosis unless they catch it early. I've also heard that a lot of females with type 1 who are diagnosed in their teenage years (like I was) don't seek medical attention until they feel REALLY sick because before they lose weight very quickly and want to shed the vanity pounds before finding out what's up. It may not be the healthiest idea, but I know I waited until I was MISERABLE because I wanted to lose as much weight as possible.

Morning All. Its still raining here. I'm wondering if Fall is here already.

My sugar was 117 this morning. It could have been better but it also could have been worse so I'm going to be satisfied with this number. I'm going to see my Dr this morning and I'm interested in seeing what she's going to say about my progress because I've been a type II diabetic for 2 years and this is the first time its been under control.

Thin - You're daughter is going to love the room. I'm a little confused, I thought it was your room now that she left for college.

Shane - Happy Belated Birthday to you. Its great you've met your goal.

Morning everybody . . .

Wow . . . our weather is almost sunny this morning (sort of off and on) but the high is only predicted at 18C/64F . . . very strange? My BGL was 5.6 (101) this morning so at least that is pretty good.

Thin . . . Kittens seem to be settling down a little. Beginning to wonder if they dislike my fabric softener scent? Except for these three high-strung little purebreds, all my cats have been the SPCA rescue type and they've all been a lot easier to cope with. Don't think there will be anymore pedigreed cats in my future. Hope these three sort themselves out soon.

Shane . . . congratulations on being of legal drinking age . . . even though you didn't do much of it. Amazing how our tastes (or at least what are bodies are willing to accept) change when we start following a healthier routine.

BTW . . . here's an alternative to alcohol for today's FFFF . . .

What common household spice is also a hallucinogen? Believe it or not, it's NUTMEG which contains the chemical myristin that has properties similar to mescaline. If taken in large enough quantities, nutmeg can produce hallucinations and feelings of euphoria. However, you'd have to consume vast quantities of the spice before you'd be in danger of a trip to Fantasy Island. In normal culinary proportions, it's a perfectly safe addition to the diet.

Bella . . . good luck at the doctor's and hope your rain stops soon. Hard to believe the change that seems to be in the air already.

Hope everybody has a great day on the go. Nothing exciting around here. Must "do my 3FC rounds" and then get out to run some errands. Keep things moving and shaking gang. See you soon . . .

Back after a three day craft show. wasn't that good. Its been raining here since Saturday night. We needed rain but no this much. Thinking serious of finding some way to go back to WW. Can't do it on my own.
We have problems with our one cat,she won't poop in the litter. On the floor right near the box,she thinks is fine. No problem with the other one. Have 2 separate boxes.

Happy Birthday!!!!!!! Sounds like a great dinner, what japanese dishes did you eat?

Funny story about blackforest cake, when I was in Germany we went to the black forest and ordered some in a cafe, it was TERRIBLE, yuck, they don't know how to make it there

It was so cold here today, I wore a sweater all day.

No, she's only 13 - she was at her Dad's for 10 days and I decided to do a room makeover while she was away.

Sometimes purbred animals are highstrung and just plain nuts

A friend of mine told me that when she was a kid, her and her brother heard about the nutmeg thing and ate a big bottle of it with a spoon The got so sick and she said she was seeing things.

Just entering my busy time of the year with craft shows. Now thru Nov. Labor Day weekend I have a 3 day one that's always been good in the pass. Didn't do it last year as I had just gotten out of the hospital.
Went and order a new stove this afternoon. Will be here either Wednesday or Friday, they didn't have it in stock. The oven in my old one gave up the ghost.

Cool

Hi, all. It's been sunny here, just the right temperature, not too hot. I've been feeling a bit under the weather. Should see the doctor but am afraid to. Been reading the posts but haven't felt like posting.
Meowee - When I was a young 'un (and stupid) a visiting friend of mine told me about getting high on nutmeg. She and I proceeded to dose ourselves with the stuff one evening. Nothing happened. She went home and I went to bed, not to wake up until 4 p.m. the next day! So did she. I found out later that that could have been fatal. Lesson learned. Sure hope your cat problems abate soon.
Rosey -
Thin - the room looks terrific! Glad your daughter loved it.
Shane - Happy birthday!
Mickey - Surgery takes a lot out of you. Hope your back 100% soon.

I've been up since 4:00am when someone rang our doorbell - twice. I thought I was dreaming the first time, but definitely heard it the second time - all the cats were downstairs watching the door like someone was there - creeped me out, but there was no one there when I checked and the street was empty and quiet.

HI rosetta, nice to see you posting. Please get to the doc's, get things looked after - you'll feel much better just by going. Please don't be afraid

Well, I had me a really bad off day yesterday. I binged minus the purging, because I was just so upset and had no other outlet for my frustration. I tried doing several things yesterday, all of which failed. I just got so fed up!

I'm back on schedule and my bsl wasnt affected by my moment of stupidity (3 hour long moment at that)

I really want to start work. I can only for a walk for so long around where I live because the scenery starts to get dull. I'm probably going to try my welsh course again, with my laptop this time, should work

Hope all is well with everyone!

ThinShe is gorgeous, and I'm glad she really liked the room! You worked so hard and it looks fantastic! ^_^

Hey everyone! I just ate some honey bunches of oats for breakfast and now I'm already anticipating lunch because I'm still hungry Sometimes, I look forward to my next meal more than anyone should. And other times, I look forward to the next day, if I've already consumed all my calories. I just love food way too much! I've felt pretty good the last couple days - no more binge eating and my blood sugars are back to normal.

Thin - yup yup, she is gorgeous, I agree with the rest! As for what I ate... sukiyaki steak, lobster, Japanese vegetables, fried rice, California rolls, ginger salad, and miso soup. I love Japenese steak houses.

rosetta - I don't like seeing doctors either, AND I am often afraid to see them. Lucky for me, I rarely get sick. The last time I saw a doctor for something other than a routine visit was when I was 17. There was a funny feeling in my ear that wouldn't go away, which made me paranoid. The diagnosis? EARWAX! The doc laughed at me, gave me ear drops, and sent me on my way.

meowee - I know all about the nutmeg. I got word of it when I was around 15 years old, and a friend of mine and I both went to go buy fresh nutmeg to get high (15, living in the suburbs, bored - go figure). I didn't feel anything (except the awful taste in my mouth - nutmeg is yummy as a spice, but it gets really nasty if you consume it in large quantities), but she got a little loopyish. She said it wasn't worth doing again, though.
