so that's what melba toast is. Eww.

My bsl was 170 this morning, because I got my insulin a bit late and my low was at like midnight.

s ok now though. I made a super nummy over grilled cheese sandwich for lunch! It is the best thing ever! I toasted two slices of bread, and then melted a tablespoon of butter substitute with some garlic salt in the microwave. I put one slice of toast on a baking sheet and put slices of mozzarella cheese on it, then put the other slice of toast on top. I spread by garlic butter mix on the top slice and then gave a generous dusting of parmesan cheese to it and then stuck it in the oven for about 5 or 6 minutes until the top slice of bread was browned. I then flipped the sandwich over and repeated the butter/cheese thing and it went back in the oven for another 5 minutes. When it came out, it was perfectly crusty and it tasted just like garlic cheesy bread! I loved it!

I am so proud with myself and that whole..sandwich inventing thing! ^-^

Howdy, all. Big news for me: I'M NO LONGER OVERWEIGHT! I'm down to 155 now, which is within the healthy weight range for a 5'6"-5'7" person! I'm now halfway to goal. I posted pics in the mini goal photo album for those who are curious.

It's been 103 degrees here in Florida for the last couple days... I'm not extremely fond of it. When I ride my bike home from work, I can barely breathe, and it's not because I'm winded... just the heat. The heat also messes with my blood sugar a little, but I'm not sure why.

Thin - sounds like you had an awesome time in Orlando! And if you DID gain a few pounds there, you probably LOST a few pounds before, so it all evens out, now doesn't it?

rosey - I totally look forward to doing nothing on the weekends... it's great! I never thought I'd say this, but doing nothing sometimes actually makes me quite content.

meowee - if I remember right (it's been awhile), I'm not very fond of Melba Toast. Bagel chips, on the other hand... MMMMM... but I don't think they are exactly diet friendly.

Rafaella - you're going to make me bluuuuush. I don't mind hearing that I'm beautiful the way I am, as long as it's sincere At this point in my life, I'm just trying to find a weight that I like myself at... I'm not quite happy yet, but hopefully at 135, I will be starting to get there.
Oh, and I think 133 is a fine number.

Cool

Hi, all. I just got back from the meeting with the nutritionist about protein. She said diabetics should limit daily protein intake to about 60 grams and try to avoid red meat and processed meats. She also said it would be a good idea to take Vitamin D and chromium supplements, or at the very least double up my daily Centrum Silver vitamin. she recommended a book called Syndrome X by Jack Challem which is about nutrition for people with diabetes and PCOS. I've ordered this book and will let you know how it it. Maybe this will help me get back on my program. I've put on so much weight I'm having trouble hauling myself onto the cable car in the morning.
Rosey - Good luck with your party.
Meowee - maybe you need to have your meds adjusted. If things don't settle down you should probably see your doctor.
Shane - congrats on the weight loss. Keep it up.
Cassandra - Well done. You are a creative cook.

akrosey49 My family loves playing bingo and also a "White Elephant" game. It was always my favorite! Depending on how many kids you have, you'll need one master deck of cards and 2-4 other decks. You put a pile of wrapped "presents" in the center of a big circle and have the children sit around the pile. The presents can be anything from an old shoe box full of bubble gum to funny things like puppy training pads! A good suggestion is to just check out the toy section of Dollar Tree or another dollar store.

Shuffle all but one of the decks of cards (set that one aside) and then deal those cards out to the kids or whoever is playing. Deal out all of the cards and try to make it even! Next, shuffle the master deck of cards, and draw a card from the top of the master deck. Lets say you drew the Ace of clubs, you would "call" that card and all of the kids with an ace of clubs would hand it over to the master deck holder and go pick a present from the pile. Rinse, Repeat! Once all of the presents are gone from the middle, when a card is called children can take presents from other people's piles. But should a person only have one present left, they are moot, nobody can take that present away from them.

The thing you have to do is make presents look interesting or intriguing. Once someone wrapped up a canoe paddle in a really long box! It was hilarious to find out what it actually was in the end!

Anywho, my blood sugar was 343 this morning. Probably because I had a low in the middle of the night and didnt wake up to fix it

Hi all . . .

Once again, the day is almost gone before I even got here. I don't feel guilty though . . . it has been the most gorgeous day today and I just have not spent much time hanging around the house. Definitely the nicest day so far this summer. Guess the weird rain and wind yesterday cleared off the nasty crud finally. The weatherman says the good stuff will continue for another few days at least. Wow I hope the forecast is right.

Even my BGL was better this morning (not great, but lot's better) at 6.1 (110). No kitten disasters either (at least, none that I've found -- but, as I said, I haven't been here much today).

Well, better get around to a few more places. Have a great evening, gang. See you later . . . Keep things moving and shaking . . .

Hi All. Hope everyone is doing well. The weather is cooler here which is such a relief from the previous hot and humid days.

I've had good bloodtest results so I'm very excited. I can't wait for the day my doctor says I can quit my medicine.

Does anyone know any good diabetic recipe websites? I like very simple recipes.

Been MIA again. I have been busy sewing doll clothes, have 3 big shows coming up. Eating has been bad. My gas oven died,so everything has been cooked on top of the stove. Need to find someplace reasonable that will deliver and hook it up.
I know what you mean about husbands. I ask mine to vacuuam and he does the center of the rug. Ask my daughter to do anything and I'm making a slave out of her. She's 34 and umemployed and living here, free. I'm the only one that cooks. Sorry about that but Im tried and stressed.

I weigh in tomorrow and I have no idea, I think I might have gained a couple in Florida but lost since I came back so who knows!

My dietitian has also weaned me off the red meats, I do mostly chicken & turkey with maybe one serving of beef a week.

The book sounds good, let us know what you think

Hi there Sugarbabies . . .

Looks like we've got another gorgeous day here in northern Nova Scotia. Wow, will we be able to handle two in a row? Good thing too, because this is another high-tourist-traffic weekend for Pictou County -- the annual Hector Festival (the Hector was the little sailing ship that brought the original Scottish settlers to my little town of Pictou a few hundred years ago) -- so we will be overrun with strangers; hopefully spending lots of nice money.

My BGL seems to be stuck at 6.1 (110) -- after starting yesterday at that number, I finished there last night and started there again this morning -- not the worst number to be stuck on, I guess. If I don't see something different soon, I'll begin to wonder bout my metre (although I just changed the batteries about a week or so ago, so it shouldn't be the problem.)

Anyway . . . decided to start here early today (before I get out and about to do some fun stuff while the weather is so great), but we are burning sunshine, so I'd best go get in the shower and get myself moving and shaking into town for the festivities. See you all soon, gang. Keep doing the good stuff just as much as you can . . .

Hi all! I've been a bad girl and I've not had my long acting insulin tonight. My bloodsugar will be crying tomorrow!

I've been working on graphic design all day today! And I am so tired! lol

I've also discovered Hoop Dancing, which I really really want to try. Its a low impact exercise that targets the full body. I just cant afford the hoops yet!

Hopefully I start work soon
