Hi, all. I had a bad weekend foodwise. Just can't seem to get it together. Am still feeling poorly and if it doesn't clear up this week I will call the doctor. We are having especially nice weather the last few weeks. Usually it gets warm, escalates for three days and then the fog comes in. But it's been steady at about 70 degrees, with some morning fog. I, personally, would like some rain. I know Meowee and Rosey would love to send me some.
Rosey as to your softdrink question. I've been drinking diet soft drinks since the '60's. Favor diet Pepsi which tastes more like the real thing. Don't like Diet Coke and the regular one doesn't taste like it once did because they now use corn syrup instead of cane sugar. One of the first things I learned when i was diagnosed with diabetes was that fruit juices and regular soft drinks were off limits because they deliver high glucose immediately into your bloodstream. That said, i've been known to wash down an ice cream sundae with a diet soda.
Weather is much, much better today and I'm taking advantage of it. I was up too early this morning and my BGL was a little low at 3.9 (70). Probably would have been hypo-level if I had managed to sleep another hour; so it's probably just as well I woke up.
I like diet coke and diet pepsi and diet ginergerale -- haven't had the "real" stuff in decades . . . but since I can count on my fingers the amount of pop (soda) that I would drink in a year, I guess I'm not a good one to judge anyway.
Just about to run out again, but wanted to say a quick Hi to everybody.
Hi all bs 104 this morning,,and am starting to feel a lot better,,,been a ruff one,,,glad that it is starting to heal and not hurt..Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Rosettastone,,,hope to hear you are better soon,,
I don't drink a lot of pop,,never have been a big pop drinker,,but haven't had the real stuff for a hundred years,,and if I have to take a sip of my hubby's which is real I about gag,,,don't know how he drinks it,,,I do like the new green tea diet,,,by Lipton, get it at wal-mart,,
Beautiful here not to hot but suppose to get hotter as the week goes on,,have a great day everyone,,,I'm happy my driller son is home for a few days after a 50 plus day hitch,,,so good to see him,,,later all ,,Jeanne
Jeanne - glad to hear you are starting to heal, it sure was a rough time for you.
Hi Meowee, please yell at me again because I have gotten out of the habit of checking my BG. Every time I did it was in the 6.5 -7 range - so I just got used to seeing that and I'm getting lazy in the checking.
I'm doing pretty good, I been doing my cardio, being active, eating well (except for that party) I don't have any more dinners to go to until October 5 - so that's good! Actually my hubby might have one other one at the club but I'm not sure when that is, hopefully I can get out of it, going to restaurants/parties really screws me up.
I went shopping for some new clothes yesterday, I just don't have anything suitable for the office that fits me at the moment. I bought 3 skirts and several blouses/light sweaters. I'm a size 14 in the butt now, down from a 20, and most of the tops I bought were a medium I'm happy with the clothes I bought and they are 'just' fitting me now (translation = squeezing in to them) so I'll be able to wear them for a while even if I lose weight.
Hey everyone! *Does victory dance* I stepped on the scale today and it said I was 150! This means I've lost 25 pounds now! I can also fit into *some* of my thinner clothes - I still can't squeeze into the 4's and the 6's, but it's nice to comfortably fit 8's and wear fitted tees again without looking huge! (I am a firm believer in dressing my appropriate size )
Thin - rock ON! you dropped A LOT of sizes - pretty soon, you won't even need to wear any plus sizes at all And by the time you reach goal, you'll probably even be out of the double digits Good job! and yes, you DO need to get one of those cute meters... maybe you'll be motivated to check your blood sugar then... - or maybe your blood sugars have been great because you're losing weight. My knowledge of type 2 isn't the greatest, but to my understanding, some of ya'll start having really good blood sugar numbers once you drop _X_ amount of pounds... right? Like FresnoBeeDude, who jokingly said he's no longer diabetic?
meowee and rosey - it hasn't been decades, but it HAS been FOREVER since I've drank regular soda, to the point of where it just tastes funny to me... it tastes like a big, sugary mess... I can't believe I drank so much of it in elementary and middle school... besides the sugar factor, it's liquid calories that I'd rather consume chewing on something more nutritious!
I absolutely refuse to eat low fat OR sugar free ice cream, though! YUCK! Sugar free candy can be ok sometimes, but consuming any more than a few pieces... well, anyone who has eaten more than few sugar free candies knows where this is heading...
also, rosey, I don't know if you like Dr. Pepper, but Diet Dr. Pepper tastes almost the same. Also try Coke Zero.
Hey everyone! *Does victory dance* I stepped on the scale today and it said I was 150! This means I've lost 25 pounds now!
Yay!!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of you,
I'd kill to wear a size 8

Wowwweee have I ever been having a crummy day. Weather is great, but I'm the pits. Started my day at 3:30 am with a really nasty hypo event -- BGL of 2.4 (43) and I cannot honestly remember a time when I was quite that low -- in my totally befuddled and sweaty state, I treated (over treated) it with the first thing that came to mind which happened to be frozen yogurt and lots of it and went back to bed. Now I have been feeling yucky all day long and have been up and down and back and forth to the bathroom a lot, too. Hmmmmm . . . must be some connection, do you think.
Needless to say, I've accomplished nothing today and have just now gotten around to checking into 3FC. Also discovered a work-related offering in my e:mail, but will let that wait until the morning. Yes indeed, I do so love retirement.
Yippee for you SHANE I'd be happy to get into an 18 right about now.
You are also right about weightloss having a good outcome for a type II. Even a 10% loss can mean lots of change in BG levels, especially for the newly diagnosed who are not taking too much medication to begin with. Type II's still make insulin -- quite often considerably more than a normal (non-diabetic) person does -- but their body is unable to use it properly. However, it is a progressive disease and over time, the islets in the pancreas do start to wear out from the contstant stress of trying to make enough insulin to get the job done. So . . . the moral of the story for all the II's out there with less than 5 to 10 years under their diabetic belt . . . get the weight off and get the under control NOW not later.
Gee ROSEY Hope Daisy is feeling better soon and can get off her 'make-dopey' meds.
Kittens are feeling a lot better and I hven't found any little 'accidents' in a couple of days -- of course, maybe I just hven't looked in right places, yet.
Hang in there JUDY Hope the results are good.
Hi THIN . . . Hi JEANNE . . . Hi everybody else. . . . Hopefully I'll be back to normal again tomorrow . . . See you then
Life is definitely looking better this morning. My blood sugar is sitting at relatively normal levels -- 4.7 (85) before breakfast this morning -- and I feel human again. We won't talk about the scale- but eventually he, too, will come to his senses.
Here's a little FFFF for you . . .
Long before modern science confirmed the cranberry's role in preventing and treating urinary tract infections, native women believed the berries possessed special healing powers and would often brew a hot cranberry poultice to help draw the poison out of arrow wounds. Cranberries are almost 90% water and contain great amounts of both fibre and vitamin C.
Hope you all have a great day planned . . . see you soon.
Haven't heard anything from the drs. So I guess the first film didn't come out. When I had the cyst they called within 12 hours to come in for an ultrasound.
Hi all just a fast drive tho before i have to get ready for work,,,Meowee,,wow,,I hate it when it goes that low,,I have had a low of 42 before and the feeling is not a good one,,,sometimes I can't even think what to do,,duh,,,am glad you got it right back up but sorry to hear how it made you feel,,,Rosey,,sorry to hear your little girl is not feeling to good,,,hope she is better soon,,my bs was 113 this morning,,loving this new meter so fast ,,,I 'm off,,have a great day you all,,,Jeanne
