  • I would try reading or a puzzle, but the thing is I have no money to fund hobbies right now. I cant even find the bus fare to get me to the library!

I'm due to start this new job on the 28th of August. Its too far away for me. The hours of the job are 8-5 m-th and 8-1:30 on fridays, but they said for the first few weeks, they'll let me come in at 9, so I can gather some money together for bus fare. My fiance works right around the corner from this place, so we can easily carpool, and he starts work at 9am. They're very keen on having me there. The salary is decent as well, $24,000, but there are no benefits aside from about 17 days a year holiday plus bank holidays.

I just want to get out there and start doing things...making friends and that. I'm also under pressure now to have my wedding soon. That and my parent's want us to go to the States for Thanksgiving. I really want to, hopefully I can gather the money together to go.

My blood sugar is good today, but we have no milk, so I cant really do breakfast. I'm hungry and thirsty, but I'm just sipping away at water till lunch.
  • Casandra, that's a lot of stress on you.

I remember when I first left home at 17, got a job, rented a room in a house,I was making 300.00 every 2 weeks, and my rent was 75.00 a week. I had hardly anything to live on and it was tough times. It makes you appreciate things more once your work/home life improves. Youll be okay, once you get started and in your routine, time will fly and your bank account will grow - maybe ask about overtime? and putting in some extra hours. Does your company open on weekends?

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much - I've been redoing my daughters room as a SURPRISE! She is away for a week at her Dad's and I am doing a total makeover. Here are some pics... hope she likes yellow

    Before pics

Okay now here are the AFTER pics!

I bought a bead curtain for the door - it looks so pretty (and the cats love it!)

I still have a few things to do before she gets home on Sunday, I have the blue blinds to put up, a new computer chair to assemble (it's in the box still), I am picking her up one of those thin TV's that hopefully will fit in the armoir, if it doesn't fit in there then we'll mount it on the wall. I have to stain the tall shelf unit to match the other furniture, and I need a new light fixture for the ceiling - I was thinking about a ceiling fan? What do you think?

Oh, and I need some pictures to hang, I bought wood letters to put above her bed that spell D R E A M, I'll take a few more pics when everything is done. I hope she loves it, she is going through a teenager time when she hates everything.

I am not sure I like the bedding, it was all I could find to match, but I will keep looking and hopefully will see something better.
  • It looks fantastic, Thin!!!

I think anyone would be lucky to have a room that nice looking! I would definitely go for a ceiling fan fixture, its so handy for those summer months! ^-^
  • Thanks! you don't think the yellow is too...well...YELLOW!? maybe when the blinds are up and some pictures it will tone down a bit.
  • Good Morning . . .

Thin . . . I love the yellow and the ceiling fan idea. Knowing teenagers; she may say she hates it at first sight but she'll love it after she lives in it for a day or two. I'm particularly fond of that "Meow" picture on the wall beside the bed -- wonder why that attracted me. Also like the exotic beaded curtain. That should definitely please her.

Casandra . . . Just hang in there a little while, girl. Things will be picking up for you soon. At least eat a little dry cereal or something, please. Don't want you crashing on us.

Rosey, Rosey, Rosey . . . Never fear. We've all been there and done that before. Just get back on track and stop beating yourself up.

Bella . . . Hope the cat is feeling better. I'm afraid to think about the Vet bill for my three. May have to mortgage the house to get them home.

Jeanne . . . Definitely think you need to find a new home for the litter pan. Good luck.

Well, we've got another pretty nice day shaping up around here. The sun is shining and it definitely doesn't seem as humid as it has been the past couple of days. Sure hope it lasts. BGL was 5.4 (97) this morning; so it's shaping up too. Nothing too big on my agenda for today -- other than finding out if the triplets are coming home. Here's an interesting little article I thought you might enjoy reading today . . . http://www.dukediet.com/publicsite/n...?issueid=28326

Hope everybody has a great day of good stuff planned. See you soon.
  • Akrosey - You'll get back on track with your food. I know it can be frustrating because during the 2 weeks of PMS my food is off.

Thin - The room is gorgeous! And I love the color. Don't get too comfortable because kids have a way of making it back home now and then.

Cas - Congratulations on the job. Let us know how it goes. I'll send some white light your way!

Meow - Thanks for the article and please send some of your wonderful weather my way! Its dreary here today and its too early for S.A.D. I have the fall and winter for that.

Took Sacha to the vet again. She prescribed more anti-inflammatories. The frustrating thing about FLUTD is there is not one protocol. Vets can't agree on how to treat it and how long recover will be.

    Thanks

I was getting so overwhelmed and kept second guessing myself on the colour, on the bedding, on the border, I was getting really stressed but I'm happy with how it is turning out.

The cat shadow box, I bought that the other day - it was only 15.99 and I have to put photos of our cats in it, just haven't had a chance yet.

Last night I had pizza, extra cheese regular pizza - we ate it while we were painting - I just couldn't get it together to make a healthy dinner. I also missed my cardio
  • Hi Everyone. Just a quick drive by while my nephew is visiting with his laptop. My computer died, and I have to decide and budget about getting it fixed or getting a new one. I miss reading everyday (and also my e-mail...ack). I'm doing good but definately suffering PC withdrawal. Don't know when I'll have a chance to post again. Everyone take care.

  • OMG . . . kittens have been home for less than two hours and Frick (the dumb-blonde-female) has pee'd on the couch again, which is something she hadn't done for the last couple of weeks, but I bet she can still smell something on the mattress. Guess I have to buy a new futon mattress and hope that works, because obviously I can't get this old one clean enough. I just do not know what to try next - hopefully she's just mad at me and will get over it. Frack and Freckle seem okay. Freckle (the male) has even come to have a cuddle. The males are usually the more affectionate anyway and besides his surgery probably doesn't cause as much pain as the hysterectomies that girls have had.

    Later . . .
  • Meowee good luck with your kittens! Must be both a pain and a relief to have them home safe! lol

My blood sugar was amazingly high this morning. I kept feeling like I was going to throw up and I even woke up at 4:40am and went downstairs and took insulin and had 3 full glasses of water!

The Boyfriend and I didnt have dinner last night, we have no food, literally. I was even so hungry, I was pondering having just ketchup X___x Also, that means I didnt get my long acting insulin injection. We were both so lazy, and now I'm paying for it. I just get really tired of cooking and doing the dishes. Especially doing dishes

My blood sugar is back to normal now, I need to get to the Doctor's sometime soon, I'm running out of needles for my pens. I'm so terrifically bored, I've taken to watching this tv show in the morning called "You Are What You Eat" And I feel sorry for every person who goes through this show. The host basically throws out all of your food, and will only allow you to eat fresh fruit, vegetables, and white meat. And most of the white meat has to be fish! *wrinkles her nose*

Looks like it's a good diet for weightloss and diabetes as well. I might try and incorporate some more fruit and veg into my lifestyle.

  • Hi gang . . .

Sorry I've been missing. Our weather has changed to crummy and stormy again and has pulled me into a low barometric-pressure-induced migraine phase. Hopefully I'll be feeling better again soon.

    See you . . .
  • Morning everyone..another rainy day here.. the dh is leaving for his cabin for a few days and i have nothing planned for myself..i usually love it for the 1st day and then it gets to quiet..i have lots of projects to keep me busy tho..i am having small successes with staying on my ww diet..its harder this time but i keep on trucking..meowee hope the headache is gone and the kitties are behaving..and everyone else hope your weekend is great (((hugs))) rosey
  • Hi everyone! I thought I would check in. I am sorry I have been MIA, but I am sure you probably did not even notice!

I spent a week in Chicago visiting my sisters, then when I got home, I had to quickly make a cake for my grandson's first birthday. Then, I wanted to get down into the garagio and work since I have sold half the pieces I put on my web shop on Etsy. I was pretty excited when I listed a vase that sold in less than two hours! I have a few mugs and a bowl and utensil crock left...nothing too exciting. So the kiln is full of pots waiting to be dry enough to fire.

My bg has been running high, and I am a bit frustrated about it. I can't figure out why, and it is not responding real well to what usually helps.

MEOWEE: Lock that little peepee head in the bathroom with a litter box and a bowl of food for a few days. That always helped with my son's cats.

CASANDRA: Money is such a curse! If you don't have enough, it is hard to live, and if you have too much, it is hard to not let it effect the way you live. I hope everything works out.

ROSEY: Good for you getting back on track! If you have any extra willpower, send me some, ok?

THIN: I think the room looks wonderful! I sure hope your daughter loves it!
