Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying this summer weekend - there aren't too many left!
Casandra, what kind of graphic design are you working on?
I haven't checked my blood sugar since Aug 1st, the day I went to Florida - I took my meter with me, but just didn't bother checking and it is still in my carry on bag that I have not unpacked yet. I'll have to get it out and get back to the real world, I guess.
Good news, even though I went away and ate in restaurants for 5 days, I still managed to lose 2lbs in the last 2 weeks. Ihave lost 34 now and my weight is 181. That trip to Florida cost me 4lbs of weightloss, but at least I didn't gain anything.
My daughter is away this coming week at her Dad's. I am going to do a makeover on her room. Today I bought her new bedding and paint (meadow gold) it's a nice creamy/yellow cheerful colour. Tomorrow I am going to get a new area rug, and some blinds and some other stuff to surprise her with next week when she is back. I hope she likes yellow!!!
Thin I have been working on a website (written by DH, designed by moi) Its for an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Network that he owns.
I might show y'all when its finished!
I am making a big lunch today, but keeping proportions down, I'm using chicken breasts instead of a whole breast joint! I'm also making mashed potatoes, broccoli, and stuffing. Its a traditional sunday lunch! Every week, we used to get this sort of meal!
I'm looking forward to it really, I'm hungry right now and its only 10am here! oh, and my blood sugar hasnt run a muck from last night's insulin booboo!
Another nice looking day in Atlantic Canada . . . although the humidity is creeping upwards again. My BGL is creeping downward by a little bit -- 5.3 (95) first thing this morning -- I just love those numbers that come in under 100.
Rosey . . . hope the weather clears for your party. Definitely got my for you.
Casandra . . . is 'hoop dancing' in any way related to using a 'hula hoop', or is that so far before your time, you don't even know what I'm talking about?
Thin . . . you get back to testing your BGL Chickie . . . listen to Grandma Linda now, you know it's important to test.
Well, I started this morning trying to delete a lot of the 90 pictures my Granddaughter took with my camera when she was here. Most of them were really silly but there are a few I wanted to save. My skills seem to allow me to either delete everything or keep everything. Decided to put the file away and come here to 3FC for a little while. Maybe it will seem less frustrating later one.
Anyway, guess I'd better get myself moving and shaking again. Things to do and places to go. Hope everybody has a great Sunday. See you all later . . .
Howdy, everyone! It seems that I gained a pound this morning, though I'm pretty sure I'm just retaining; I ate a lot of sodium yesterday and probably did not drink enough water. So, today, I'm going to eat less sodium, drink more water, and get back on track (yesterday I went 250 calories above my limit of 1,400).
The girlfriend came back on Wednesday, and she cooked me a traditional Puerto Rican meal, but I ate very small portions of it. We've been going out to eat for the last couple days, but I've been (mostly) well behaved and well informed on my choices. She's going away again on Tuesday, and I'm probably going to lose a couple more pounds by the time she comes back. I eat nothing but fruits, veggies, tofu, lean meat, and brown rice when she is away - it's easy to stay on plan when there's no one else eating junk around you!
Thin: I don't think I could have LOST those 20 pounds without the support of this forum... honestly! I'll post here forever... after I reach goal, there's always maintaining and such As I've said before, I just hope I LIKE my body when I hit goal. In the past, I've had to be under 125 to be happy. 125 is my *secret* goal, but I'm trying to be realistic. I guess we'll see, huh?
Also, congradulations on losing 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks even though you went on vacation and to restaurants! That's awesome. Restaurant food is difficult for people trying to lose weight... and people with diabetes in general if they're taking insulin, since we don't know for sure how many carbs and sugars are in it, so we just have to guesstimate... I'm a huge fan of that dietfacts.com web site and I always take a look at it before going out to eat anywhere... mostly for caloric purposes, though - I never did this when I was thin, because I didn't think to (or care to know that I could be getting 120% DV of saturated fat in one meal), and I didn't do it when I got fat for the same reason! haha!
meowee: you are SO lucky to live in Canada right now! The Florida summer heat is EXCRUCIATING! It has hit 100+ several times this week, and the sun is blinding. It's so hot that I can barely breathe... yet I still manage to ride my bike 20 miles in it. I suck it up and deal... how else am I going to get in shape?
Trust me SHANE . . . come January or February, I won't be feeling so lucky when we are below freezing almost all the time . . . Florida will look pretty good then.

You might love yourself at 135! well, I mean you should love yourself now too, but you might be really satisfied at 135.
I hope to be in the 150 region when I go on my cruise in November (fingers crossed) I have a little over 3 months to accomplish that. I am going to step up my exercise starting tomorrow. Doing 30 minutes of cardio in the morning + my 1 hour in the evening. I didn't do any exercise the whole time I was away except for the walking in th parks - and it was brutally hot.

Yeah, it was pretty challenging at dinner. (ie) I orderd a beef dish, sauce on the side, and asked for it to be served with steamed veggies instead of the pasta it came with. What happened? it came covered with sauce and served on pasta, then she gave me an extra dish with the veggies, but I could see they were cooked in oil. They don't make it easy for you and you don't want to be a pain in the butt and send it back.
I'm just glad I'm back and back on my routine. I still haven't seen my collarbone yet... waiting for it to emerge.
ooops, you guys, I took 2 metformin by mistake this morning. I took one when I got up and then I went to take a vitamin and I was daydreaming I guess, and I opened the metformin bottle again. Will I be okay??
THIN . . . keep a close eye on your glucose levels today . . . check them at the slightest 'funny feeling'. Metformin is not supposed to cause lows, but who knows what could happen when you double-dose? Hopefully the worst thing you might experience is a bad gas attack or an episode of "runny-tummy". . .
Things are relatively cool around nothern Nova Scotia this morning, but it is very overcast and pretty humid. Wouldn't be surprised to see some thunderstorms this afternoon. My BGL has taken a downward turn, too. It was 4.7 before brekkie and 4.3 before lunch (85 and 77). Although I always feel pretty good at numbers like that, I'd just as soon be a little higher. When you are under 5.0 (90) it's too easy to go really low in the blink of an eye.
All's pretty quiet on the kitten front. Tomorrow morning they go to the vet for the little 'operations'. Imagine things will be pretty quiet around here for a couple of days after that.
Here's a cute little FFFF to start the week . . .
Why do pregnant women often crave pickles . . . because of the increased need for salt. Although we are constantly warned to watch our salt intake, a pregnant woman needs to make approximately 40% more blood than normal to feed the placenta and the fetus and, believe it or not, salt is a key ingredient to being able to maintain the higher level of blood volume.
Anyway, hope everybody has a great day planned. Keep things moving and shaking and I'll see you again really soon . . .

Well gang . . . finally cleaned up the 100 or so pictures my 12 year-old GD took early last month . . . most of them went bye-bye, unfortuntely. She took a lot of cat pictures and they were almost all too close-up to be recognizeable. Unfortunately there are none of her (since she was doing the taking) and none of her Mother. Thought I would post these three so you could see that there is a little family resemblance.
That's the four-year-old GD, my eldest son, and me -- too bad I can't blame the double, turkey-wattle, chins on Becky's photographic skills. Oh well. No that is not one of my cats -- it's Angelia's favourite toy.
