kflunk6113 and Ophelia - I just did my first DietBet weigh in yesterday (the first month of a 6-monther) after joining up, after hearing you two discuss it!! All accepted, so just waiting to hear the payout (which won't be much but still an exciting landmark for me!!)
AdorableBookworm Welcome! This is a good thread to start with because you can post your weight every day if you want, or not, or chat, or not; so settle in and feel comfortable with however you want to do it. Great work on making a start and setting a goal! Getting your brain in gear to want to start is totally the hardest part.
Ophelia Thank you! I am about 1 lb. away as well. I am going to be really strict this weekend and make sure I do everything I can to make it!! We are back on similar monthly cycles and I have been bouncing around like crazy this week. That isn't uncommon for me during ovulation week though, it just sucks that this time I have been behaving 100%. I hope next week we both see our whooshes!!
Clarita That is what I was thinking! This is the 15th month that I have been actively trying to lose, and the ONLY month that I had a double digit loss was the very first month!
bookworm Hi! Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it here! There have been a few forums where I just read for years and it was a huge step outside of my comfort zone to start posting, but now its second nature and I forget all about my shyness. I can relate to a lot of what you posted. I wish you lots of success on your journey!!
Ange That is awesome that you joined a diet bet!! I am currently in one that will be done next week so I should go on and plan out the next one. With the 6 month bet what % loss is needed to win?
I love seeing so many new people posting on here!!! Good luck to everyone!

Wow, thank you all for such a warm welcome. It is really nice to have found a group of people who are so supportive and kind. I'm looking forward to try to get to know you guys a bit better, and hopefully I can help provide support for you, too.
I have been working on trying to consistently exercise every other day. This has been working really well for me so far. I like working out - I like running on a treadmill and outside, when it's nice. (I also like walking uphill on it and watching shows that I wouldn't normally watch.) I really like lifting weights and I used to be pretty serious about bodybuilding. I also really like kickboxing, and my new bag stand is coming today so I'm excited to set that up and get punching and kicking again.
My issue is always just eating too much. I have trouble being able to tell when I'm full, so I have to be very careful. I've been trying to do between 1400-1600 calories a day.

ange82much: That's awesome. I've never done a 6-month one...please keep us updated on how that works out for you!
kfunk: I hope so, too!!!
SantaClaritaDiet: I'm right there with you today...hoping it's just water rentention for me, as well. Here's to lower numbers for us both tomorrow! Haha.
AdorableBookworm: The fact that you love being active and working out will help immensely, but I agree that the diet is the actual hard part! They always say that "you can't out-train a bad diet", so I hope that you are able to find that balance. Being here and posting has always helped kept me accountable -- not just with others, but to myself -- so I think it's great that you are here now.

Well, I moved a little finally....but, it was in the wrong direction! Weigh-in was up a bit to 193.2 today. I think I'm going to cut my experiment of increasing my cals in general, and go to my plan B of cycling in a higher day once a week or so. This is what I was afraid might happen. Higher cals every once in awhile = good, increase in daily cals = plateaus and slowly starting to creep back up. Oh well! It's a learning process, and now I know my body doesn't like the higher range every day. Now, I hope I can readjust and get things moving back in the right direction for the rest of the month!

WELCOME AdorableBookworm and WELCOME BACKto all those returning! This group has been very supportive for me and I hope you all feel comfortable among us!
Last night my kids wanted wings and I ended up getting fried catfish and fries. I did go over by 300 calories and I am surprised I didn't go up, but I started the day planning to get back on track and i've done well. Unfortunately this week has been very challenging healthwise for me. Tuesday I had my health screening at work and they said my blood pressure is high. I went right to my dr and while it was still a bit high it wasn't as high as at the hospital. She ordered that I start checking my BP daily and it's been high everyday so far. If that wasn't enough she did labwork and today she called me to say I am diabetic! I am just over the minimum that declares me diabetic, so she is giving me 3 months of continuing my healthy eating and exercise plan to, hopefully, get it down. Then I won't need to start medication. This is what i'm praying for. I did sign up for diabetes education classes so I can have a better idea of what exactly i'm supposed to eat/limit. Just saying "limit carbs" is not a number to stay below and forget that "plate method". I cannot estimate to save my life so I don't want to rely on that. Checking blood sugars is the worst part and though i've been a nurse for 21 years my 13 year old daughter had to push the button to stick me. This is going to be a real challenge but even more motivation to stay on track.
